WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2024 Review

Women’s WarGames Match: Liv Morgan, Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton, Candice LeRae and Raquel Rodriguez VS Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Bayley, Iyo Sky, and Naomi

WWE Survivor Series 2024 kicked off with the Women’s WarGames Match as Team Liv took on Team Rhea! It was Bayley and Nia Jax who started off the match, with Ripley’s Team having the advantage meaning it was soon 2-on-1 and so on! Unfortunately, in my opinion, this wasn’t very good at all, it was really messy, the timing was off, and some of the weapon shots were awful! I thought Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton did well, but the rest just weren’t at it (minus maybe Candice LeRae)! Most of the Superstars were able to get their big moves in, but in the end, it was Rhea Ripley who picked up the win for her team after sending Liv Morgan crashing through a table with the Riptide!

United States Championship: LA Knight VS Shinsuke Nakamura

It was then time for the first Championship match of the night as LA Knight put his United States Title on the line against Shinsuke Nakamura! This was a fine match, it felt like a pretty bog-standard TV match which just happened to be taking place on a Premium Live Event! However, this wasn’t completely pointless as after a brilliant move from Shinsuke to drop LA Knight onto the steel in between the two rings, Nakamura nailed Knight with a Kinshasa to the back of the head to pick up the win and be crowned as the brand-new United States Champion! It’s about time Shinsuke got some Gold, I’m super happy for him!

Intercontinental Championship: Bron Breakker VS Ludwig Kaiser VS Sheamus

It was then time for a Triple Threat Match as Bron Breakker put his Intercontinental Championship on the line against both Ludwig Kaiser and Sheamus! This was definitely the best match up to this point, I thought all three guys did a really good job, and I think any of them winning here would’ve been a good thing! Bron Breakker continues his terrific 2024, Ludwig Kaiser is just so underrated, and we all know how great Sheamus is! There was actually a great near-fall following a Brogue Kick when Ludwig pulled the referee out of the ring, but in the end, a wicked Spear from Breakker onto Kaiser followed by another one to The Celtic Warrior meant The Badass retained his IC Title!

World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther VS Damian Priest

Credit: Wrestlezone

In a rematch from Summerslam, Gunther and Damian Priest collided with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line! The story of this match was that Damian Priest injured his shoulder early on, and that became a target for Gunther throughout! I thought the story that was being told here was good, and I thought they had some really good moments too! However, it was a bit too slow at times, particularly after the match that came before it! Still, Gunther and Priest are so, so good that they still managed to make it work, and the ending was really good too! See, after both men took a nasty landing, Finn Balor arrived to give a nasty Coup de Grace to Damian Priest! However, this angered Gunther who wrecked Balor with a big boot before The Ring General dropped Priest with his second Powerbomb of the night to finally get the win! I could very much see a Triple Threat on the first Netflix show after this!

Men’s WarGames Match: The O.G. Bloodline and CM Punk VS The Bloodline and Bronson Reed

And in the Main Event of Survivor Series: WarGames 2024, The Original Bloodline and CM Punk teamed up to take on the current Bloodline and Bronson Reed inside of WarGames! There was already a great story before the match even began because whilst The Bloodline all came out together, Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Jimmy Uso, Sami Zayn, and Jey Uso all had their own separate entrances! The match started off with Jey Uso and Tama Tonga before Bronson Reed came in and wreaked havoc! Jimmy Uso was then in to give us a proper Usos reunion before Jacob Fatu arrived and made the match a whole lot better! CM Punk was then aiming to come out next, but Roman Reigns denied him in a great moment (as Sami Zayn went out) before Tonga Loa had trouble getting into the actual cage (poor guy)! Punk then returned the favour to Reigns by walking out of the cage before him before Solo Sikoa came out and locked the door, meaning there was no way for The Head of the Table to get in! However, Roman did manage to get in as the match finally began after Paul Heyman arrived to tell Reigns and Punk that they have to get along! We then got plenty of crazy spots, including a missed super TSUNAMI followed by Jimmy Uso diving from the top of the cage to send Jacob Fatu flying through a table with an Uso Splash! Also, with CM Punk saving Roman Reigns from Bronson Reed’s Tsunami, Reigns finally started to trust The Second City Saint as all 5 men surrounded Solo Sikoa! Solo refused to back down, but all that meant was he got met by all of the good guys’ finishers before Roman picked up the pinfall following a Spear! This was great, this was just so well done! Everything between Roman and Punk was terrific, they told that story so well, I thought Bronson Reed looked great yet again, and my goodness me was Jacob Fatu amazing, definitely my MVP for the night!
