Women’s World Championship: Rhea Ripley VS Nia Jax
After Joe Tessitore kicked off the broadcast, Saturday Night’s Main Event kicked off with Rhea Ripley defending her Women’s World Championship against Nia Jax! I thought this was a really good Wrestling match, probably Rhea’s best since WrestleMania last year, and Nia Jax continues her run of putting on strong matches! Some of the feats of strength and power from both women were impressive, and Nia hitting an Annihilator to the back of Ripley was definitely a cool spot though. Unfortunately, the only thing that held this match back was how obvious the result was as Rhea eventually pinned Queen Nia following a Riptide! Still, this was a strong start to the show!

Intercontinental Championship: Bron Breakker VS Sheamus
After Jesse “The Body” Ventura joined commentary, it was time for the second match of the night as Sheamus looked to finally capture the Intercontinental Championship off Bron Breakker! This was another decent match, it was hard-hitting throughout which you always come to expect whenever Sheamus is wrestling, and the one Spear that Bron delivered on the outside in mid-air was absolutely insane! Towards the end of the match, Sheamus thought he’d got the victory with a Brogue Kick, only for Breakker to put his foot on the rope before The Badass managed to nail The Celtic Warrior with another Spear to get the win and retain his IC Title! Sheamus should never be allowed to fight for that Title again!

Undisputed WWE Championship Contract Signing
Shawn Michaels was out next for a big hometown pop as The Heartbreak Kid moderated a Contract Signing between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens for next week’s Undisputed WWE Championship Ladder Match at the Royal Rumble! Kevin quickly tried to say something, but he was cut off by Cody before Rhodes signed the contract. However, Owens kept going at Rhodes about how he betrayed their friendship and he will take everything from Cody next week! Shawn Michaels then called KO jealous which only angered Owens more before The Prizefighter finally signed the contract as both men handed over their respective Championship Titles. However, before the segment could end, Kevin Owens tried to deliver a package piledriver to Shawn Michaels, but Cody Rhodes broke that up before HBK delivered a little Sweet Chin Music to KO! This was fine for what it was, Kevin Owens was once again the best thing about it.

Braun Strowman VS Jacob Fatu
The next match was all about the “Clash of the Titans” as Braun Strowman went one-on-one with Jacob Fatu. Braun got the initial advantage, sending Jacob flying both into the barricade and over the announce table. However, this just ticked Fatu off who started to destroy Strowman with multiple attacks in the corner to the point where the referee had to intervene. This just led to Jacob chucking the referee out of the ring which forced the DQ finish, but this didn’t stop The Samoan Werewolf from continuously assaulting The Monster of All Monsters before Fatu delivered not 1, not 2, but 3 Moonsaults before Tama Tonga finally calmed him down! Whilst having a DQ finish is never satisfying, this did a great job of showcasing just how much of a threat Jacob Fatu truly is!

World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther VS Jey Uso
And in the Main Event of this edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, Gunther put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against “Main Event” Jey Uso! This was another strong match on this show, with Gunther and Jey Uso working as well as they have done in the past, and we honestly need to see this more from Jey because then he absolutely would be a shoo-in to be a World Champion one day! Gunther of course is superb, and he put in arguably his best display since winning the World Heavyweight Championship, and him kicking out of a Superkick-Spear-Uso Splash combo is very impressive indeed! However, just like the opening match of the night, I couldn’t buy into that near-fall because the Championship was never going to change hands here, and in the end, The Ring General delivered a pair of Powerbombs to Uso to get the win! I’m very intrigued to see where Gunther goes next!
