WWE Money in the Bank 2024 Review

Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Credit: Forbes

This year’s Money in the Bank kicked off with the Men’s Ladder Match as Drew McIntyre, Jey Uso, Chad Gable, Carmelo Hayes, Andrade, and LA Knight all looked to move one step closer to Championship glory. This was such a great match, everyone showed out and then some. Master Gable did some amazing suplexes, Knight was well over with the crowd, and Andrade and Melo were absolutely superb! Some of the spots between El Idolo and HIM were quite incredible, and we also got an amazing moment where Gable suplexed Knight to the outside and through a ladder! It then looked like Jey Uso was about to win before Drew McIntyre launched a ladder at him, and this allowed McIntyre to climb up and grab the briefcase to become the new Mr. Money in the Bank! So, so good, and very well deserved for McIntyre!

Intercontinental Championship: Sami Zayn VS Bron Breakker

The next match-up saw Sami Zayn put his Intercontinental Championship on the line against Bron Breakker! This was a good match, both guys had good showings, but I do feel like it could’ve been better had the pace of the match been quicker. Even still, the Canadian crowd were always going to be behind Sami no matter what, and to my surprise, it was Zayn who actually managed to pick up the win following a Helluva Kick!

World Heavyweight Championship: Damian Priest VS Seth “Freakin” Rollins

After John Cena made a surprise appearance to announce his “Retirement Tour”, it was World Title time as Damian Priest looked to retain his World Heavyweight Championship over Seth “Freakin” Rollins. I thought the action here was good, both guys are talented competitors, and you could also tell that both men were being a bit cautious due to a certain Money in the Bank holder “looming in the shadows”. After a weird moment where the ref didn’t count to 3, Drew McIntyre’s music hit as The Scottish Psychopath cashed in to make it a Triple Threat Match. This looked to be working for Drew until CM Punk arrived and laid him out with the World Heavyweight Championship before Damian Priest took advantage and hit the South of Heaven to score the win and retain his World Title (and also his spot in The Judgment Day). I’m very pleased that Priest retained, I think this Punk-McIntyre feud is amazing, and the fact that Seth “Freakin” Rollins was furious with CM Punk after the match only made all of this feel like the biggest thing going!

Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match

It was then time for one of Iyo Sky, Lyra Valkyria, Naomi, Tiffany Stratton, Chelsea Green, and Zoey Stark to climb the ladder of success in the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match! This was a complete car crash, and in the best possible way! There were so many mental ladder spots that looked absolutely horrific to take, but that only made this match better and better and better! It was also amazing to see all six women shine to the point where there probably wasn’t a standout performer (or certainly not to the extent of the men’s) and every single competitor was involved in at least one (if not 2) crazy spots! Towards the end of the contest, Iyo Sky and Zoey Stark took each other with a ridiculous Falcon Arrow onto a ladder before it looked like Chelsea Green was going to pick up a massive win! However, Tiffany Stratton then pushed Ms. Green to the outside through two tables before Stratton grabbed the briefcase to become Miss “Tiffy in the Bank”! We’d better be getting that pink briefcase!

Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens, and Randy Orton VS The Bloodline

Credit: WrestleTalk

And in the Main Event, Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens, and Randy Orton all teamed up to take on the “newly-formed” Bloodline. This match started off at a slower pace, with KO and Tama Tonga particually getting worked over until a ref bump led to all sorts of chaos! Randy Orton was RKO’ing everyone, Cody was hitting all of his big moves too, but it was Jacob Fatu who made the real difference as he wiped out all of them (including the referee) before Solo Sikoa delivered a Samoan Spike to Rhodes before he pinned the Undisputed WWE Champion for the 3 count! This was a good match, but there is no way that this should’ve Main Evented!
