Drew McIntyre Starts the Show, Alba Fyre VS Iyo Sky VS Natalya: Women’s Intercontinental Championship Tournament (Round 1)
Drew McIntyre arrived to kick off this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw as The Scottish Psychopath talked about a family member recently passing away and that the real villains of WWE are Roman Reigns and CM Punk! That’s why if you’ve aligned yourself with either of those two men recently, Drew is coming for you before Sami Zayn interrupted him to put his points across. Sami said he could relate to Drew on multiple things, but he’s sick and tired of McIntyre blaming everyone but himself which is why he’d be happy to fight him tonight! A brawl then broke out between the two men, but Jey Uso quickly made his return to the show to help Zayn drop McIntyre to the outside! This was a fine way to start the show which included some good lines and points!

After Adam Pearce rejected Sonya Deville’s request to be added to the Women’s Intercontinental Championship Tournament, Kairi Sane’s replacement was revealed to be none other than Iyo Sky as Iyo, Natalya, and Alba Fyre battled in the final First Round matchup in the Women’s IC Title Tournament! This was a decent match, it got enough time for things to happen, and I will happily watch Iyo and Alba fight because they’re both great! There was also a story surrounding Natalya as she wanted to join the list of Family members who have held the Intercontinental Championship, but in the end, it wasn’t meant to be for Nattie as she was pinned by Iyo Sky following Sky hitting Over the Moonsault!

Akira Tozawa VS Chad Gable, Damian Priest VS Dominik Mysterio, Dexter Lumis VS The Miz, The New Day Speak
The Judgment Day were once again struggling in their Clubhouse as Liv Morgan and Finn Balor continue to dislike each other before Jey Uso agreed to let Sami Zayn fight Drew McIntyre! Akira Tozawa was then out next to take on his old mentor Chad Gable, but this match really didn’t go on for too long as Gable dominated Tozawa, delivering 3 German Suplexes and a Powerbomb before he locked in an Ankle Lock which forced Tozawa to tap! After the match, Master Gable refused to break the hold which is when Otis jumped into the ring, but The Creed Brothers made sure that nothing else happened!
Grade: C
Even Dominik Mysterio was disgusted by The New Day’s actions which is pretty hilarious before “Dirty” Dom headed to the ring to clash with Damian Priest! Damian dominated this match, but Dominik made it clear earlier in the show that he had a plan! That plan was for JD McDonagh to dress up as Santa Claus and for Carlito to hide under the ring, but those guys were both as useless as ever which is when Finn Balor took out Priest to cause the DQ! The Judgment Day then tried to beat up their former member, but The War Raiders arrived to even the odds as Priest dropped Balor with a South of Heaven to end the segment!

Seth “Freakin” Rollins had a sit-down interview where he talked about his disdain for CM Punk and how their match on January 6th is going to be a fight before The Miz had a fight on his hands when he went one-on-one with Dexter Lumis! This was fine, it was a pretty basic Wrestling match, but the thing that bothered me the most was for the second straight match, it ended with a Disqualification as The Final Testament arrived and took out Lumis! This then brought out The Wyatt Sick6 as they started a brawl which ended up seeing Erick Rowan Powerbomb Nikki Cross onto everyone! The ending of this was very unnecessary!
Grade: C
Damian Priest told The War Raiders that he’d happily go to War with them against The Judgment Day before The New Day came out to a chorus of boos! Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods took shots at Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett before Kofi went mad at the crowd for booing him given his mother had flown 20 hours to come and see him! I thought that was a terrific line, and it then got better when Mrs. Kingston walked out on her son as Kofi looked devastated! This was another great segment involving The New Day, what a terrific end to the year they’ve had!

Drew McIntyre VS Sami Zayn
After another backstage segment involving The New Day (this time with Rey Mysterio), it was Main Event time as Sami Zayn once again clashed with Drew McIntyre! This match got a good amount of time which makes sense, and it was the best match of the night which also makes sense! The story throughout was that Drew is 9-0 against Sami, but because it’s the Christmas episode, I very much thought Zayn would finally get his win here! However, that did not happen as McIntyre nailed Zayn with a Claymore to get the win before he continued to beat down Sami which is when Jey Uso made the save and dropped Drew with a Spear! However, this is when The Bloodline made a surprise Raw appearance to take out both Jey and Sami as Drew looked on with a gleeful smile on his face! So, not a happy Christmas ending at all!
