Jey Uso VS Grayson Waller

Monday Night Raw, live from Madison Square Garden, kicked off this week with Jey Uso heading through the crowd to take on Grayson Waller! It’s rare that an episode of Raw starts with a match, but it was nice to see it, and I thought this was decent! Both men are good in the ring, I particularly enjoy watching Grayson perform, and Jey is just so over! Of course, Austin Theory kept trying to interfere to help his A-Town Down Under buddy come out victorious, but in the end, Uso was able to deliver a Spear and an Uso Splash to get the win before Gunther arrived and choked out his WrestleMania opponent to end the segment!

Logan Paul Arrives, The New Day VS The LWO, Cody Rhodes Promo

After a video package highlighting the rivalry between CM Punk and Seth “Freakin” Rollins, the Alpha Academy went to check on Jey Uso! Logan Paul’s music then hit as The Maverick made it clear that he had no intention of being called out by AJ Styles which is why he’s here first! Logan then started to go after actor Andrew Schulz before AJ Styles ran down to the ring and scared Paul off to make the save! Logan Paul’s delivery here was pretty good, but there wasn’t much of note!

We then went straight into the next match as The New Day and The LWO collided in a Tornado Tag Team Match! This was fun, it was very chaotic, but that’s how these types of matches work! Dragon Lee was particularly impressive, he’s very talented, and I also laughed when Oba Femi (who was sitting in the crowd) started to trash-talk Xavier Woods! Towards the end of the match, a masked luchador came out of nowhere and beat up Rey Mysterio before he ran off, leaving Kofi and Xavier to hit their Tag Team finisher to get the win! I had no problem with this ending because it meant that The New Day won!

Carlito wasn’t listening to Finn Balor in The Judgment Day Clubhouse before Dominik Mysterio came in to tell Finn that he’d gotten him a match against Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Championship next week! Balor hugged Dom which was quite nice before Cody Rhodes made his way down to the ring to talk a bit more about John Cena! Cody said that Cena still isn’t around to explain his actions, but that he will be on the show in Brussels next week! Rhodes also then went on to say that he’s the Captain of the company now, and he will prove why he is the Undisputed WWE Champion! This promo wasn’t as good as Cody’s from Friday, and that’s mainly because nothing here really added to the story. However, Rhodes’ delivery was still good!

Raquel Rodriguez VS Bayley, Iyo Sky’s Championship Interview Gets Interrupted

Bayley was then out next as she was ready to go one-on-one with Raquel Rodriguez! They kept saying on commentary that the winner of this match would be Lyra Valkyria’s next challenger for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, and yet none of the graphics ever said that this was a Number 1 Contender’s Match! In terms of the action itself, it was fine, there was some decent moments, but the crowd seemed completely disinterested! Towards the end of the match, Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio made their presence felt, opening the door for Raquel to drop Bayley onto the announce table before Rodriguez floored The Role Model with the Tejada Bomb to get the win! Whilst Bayley losing again is a bit surprising, it made sense for Raquel to win here!

Cathy Kelley wanted Chad Gable to admit that he was the man in the Luchador mask, but Chad denied it! A guy in said Luchador mask was then dragged out of the arena, so Gable is clearly innocent! Michael Cole was then supposed to interview Iyo Sky about her capturing the Women’s World Championship last week, but that interview didn’t last long as Cole then brought out Bianca Belair to ask how why she was at ringside last week! Rhea Ripley then interrupted to say the exact same thing as both Ripley and Belair got into one another’s faces, but they disrespected Iyo so she slapped them both to end the segment! A lot of this was pretty missable, there were some decent lines, but I don’t think the delivery was particularly great! However, I did like Iyo in this segment!

CM Punk VS Seth “Freakin” Rollins: Steel Cage Match

And in the Main Event, CM Punk and Seth “Freakin” Rollins clashed inside of a Steel Cage in Madison Square Garden! The match started with punches because both guys can't stand each other, and they kept playing with the idea of letting the other person escape the cage as a sign of them quitting. The interesting thing about that is both men could’ve and would’ve won had they not hated each other so much! Both guys hit their finishers at different points, but I fully bought Punk winning with a third GTS so Seth kicking out was great! Rollins also delivered a Stomp of his own for a great near-fall, and the ending of this match was terrific! See, Roman Reigns made his first appearance since the Royal Rumble to drag Seth Rollins out of the ring, meaning Seth beat CM Punk before Reigns beat up Rollins with a Spear and a Stomp of his own! Roman then looked into the ring to see Paul Heyman checking on CM Punk, and this only angered The Tribal Chief further as he got into the ring and dropped Punk with a Spear to end the show standing tall! The fact that Roman helped Seth win is brilliant, it’s so clever, and that Reigns took both guys out is exactly how it should be! The match was great, and the ending was superb!
