WWE Monday Night Raw Review: 09/09

American Made VS The Wyatt Sick6: Street Fight

Monday Night Raw kicked off this week with an 8-person Mixed Tag Team Street Fight as American Made looked to finally get the best of The Wyatt Sick6! With no commercial breaks, this was a pretty hectic start to the show as so many weapons were used that it looked like a car crash at ringside! Tables, Stairs, and Kendo sticks were all used, but the best part was when Erick Rowan kicked down the barricade and used that as his own personal battering ramp! Everyone here looked good, selling how much this match took out of them, but in the end, after Uncle Howdy got involved, The Wyatt Sick6 hit their finisher onto Chad Gable to score the victory which will surely see the end of this feud!

Finn Balor Calls Out Damian Priest, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill VS Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn: WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, Bret “The Hitman” Hart Appears, Dominik Mysterio VS Dragon Lee

Finn Balor was out next as he cut straight to the chase and called Damian Priest out. Finn said that Priest turned his back on The Judgment Day before Damian came out and said he wants to get his hands on him. This led to a match being set up for Bad Blood before the rest of The JD attacked The Archer of Infamy. Rhea Ripley did her best to make the save, but Liv Morgan was able to target Rhea’s bad knee before Priest sacrificed his own health to protect his Terror Twin, and he got destroyed for it! Jey Uso did run down to make the save which was an interesting choice, but other than that, this was effective for everyone involved, especially Priest and Balor!

Braun Strowman had an interesting interaction with Bron Breakker backstage before Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill put their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships on the line against Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn. There isn’t honestly much to talk about here as it was mostly just the same action we’ve seen for months now. Alba and Isla get a little joy teaming up on Belair, but then Cargill get’s the hot tag and does her thing. Fyre and Dawn did hit their finishing move which didn’t result in a victory before the Tag Champs hit their finishing move to score the victory!

The Judgment Day interrupted The LWO’s backstage interview to set up a match between Finn Balor and Rey Mysterio before Bret “The Hitman” Hart made an appearance in front of the Canadian crowd! Before Bret could say much, Gunther came out and disrespected both The Hitman and the Canadian crowd before Sami Zayn arrived to a massive ovation! Sami made it clear that he still wants a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship, but Gunther refuses to give it to him because he doesn’t think he’s worthy. However, some shots fired from Bret Hart to The Ring General and a brawl afterwards (with Sami) might ultimately change the Champions' mind.

Bron Breakker questioned Pete Dunne’s persona before Sheamus tried to attack Dunne with a shillelagh! Dominik Mysterio was out next as he was ready to take on a former foe in Dragon Lee! This was a decent contest, both guys can go in the ring, and they both know each other well from past feuds on NXT. There was also a lot going on outside the ring between the rest of The Judgment Day and The LWO, and in the end, all of that distracted the referee to the point where Liv Morgan was able to take out Lee before Dominik hit both the 619 and a Frog Splash to score the 3 count!

The Pure Fusion Collective VS Lyra Valkyria, Zelina Vega and ?, Drew McIntyre Promo, Finn Balor VS Rey Mysterio

After a backstage interaction between Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, and Damage CTRL, The Pure Fusion Collective headed to the ring to take on Lyra Valkyria, Zelina Vega, and a mystery partner. That mystery partner was none other than Natalya who made her return in her hometown, and she alongside Lyra and Zelina looked pretty convincing against Sonya Deville, Shayna Baszler, and Zoey Stark. In the end, Natalya got the win after making Zoey tap out, and I get why she won. However, this was a poor look for PFC, and I just don’t get why you’d make them look like this!

Grade: C-

Natalya had a nice moment with her Uncle backstage before Drew McIntyre came out to say that he’s officially done with CM Punk after last week’s destruction! However, Drew was more frustrated and annoyed at Wade Barrett’s interference in his business last week, and McIntyre made it clear to Wade that there’ll be consequences if he does it again. This brought out Adam Pearce to stop anything serious from happening before Pearce confirmed to The Scottish Psychopath that he will face CM Punk one more time at Bad Blood, in Hell in a Cell! We kind of knew this was coming, but it’s still a big deal, and I’m very excited to see what they have planned! As for this segment, it was perfectly fine, and I liked the bit between Drew and Wade Barrett.

Karrion Kross tried to get into the head of The Miz before The New Day talked about getting a World Tag Team Title opportunity next week! Speaking of Tag Team Champions, Finn Balor arrived as he was ready to go one-on-one with Rey Mysterio. This wasn’t really a match, it was more of a statement from Finn Balor! See, Finn got disqualified after refusing to let go of a submission, and whilst that’s not always the best way to go, I felt it worked in this situation because Balor is a bit insane! It also got more insane when Balor delivered a wicked basement dropkick to Mysterio onto the ring apron on the outside, and yeah, this was a really good look for The Prince!

Intercontinental Championship Number 1 Contender’s Match: Braun Strowman VS Jey Uso VS Pete Dunne VS Ilja Dragunov

After a brilliant Judgment Day promo, it was Main Event time as Braun Strowman, Jey Uso, Pete Dunne, and Ilja Dragunov collided for the opportunity to face Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Championship. What I liked about this Main Event was all four men got different moments to shine, and that makes sense as they’ve all been Champions in the past (most of them have been World). Braun Strowman was probably the one who got the most offense in, but that got ruined when he got floored through a table by the returning Bronson Reed, a man that is continuing to become a bigger and bigger deal with every appearance he makes! This left the match to a Triple Threat, and Pete Dunne nearly stole the win following a Jey Uso Spear. However, after Ilja Dragunov wrecked Dunne with a H-Bomb, Uso delivered a Superkick to The Mad Dragon followed by a Frog Splash to The Bruiserweight to score the win and book a date with The Badass! This was very much expected, but I think it’s a good test for both men!
