WWE Friday Night SmackDown Review: 25/10

Randy Orton Starts the Show, Andrade VS Carmelo Hayes – Game 7

Friday Night SmackDown kicked off this week with Randy Orton as The Viper demanded Triple H come down to the ring to admit that the reason why he won’t give him a match with Kevin Owens is because Hunter is protecting KO! However, Triple H came out to say he was actually protecting Randy, cause this is a much different Kevin Owens, and he doesn’t want to see Orton on the shelf again! However, Randy wasn’t taking this as an answer so after some more persuading, Triple H gifted Orton his match with Owens, and yeah, that was the segment! It was alright, it didn’t do much for me, but Hunter’s point about KO being different this time is certainly an interesting one!

After a great video package, it was time for Game 7 in the series between Andrade and Carmelo Hayes! LA Knight was the Special Guest Referee, and he made sure to get involved as much as possible as he wouldn’t allow either man to really do anything. Things then got worse as after Melo nailed Knight with a Superkick, the United States Champion dropped Hayes before he also floored Andrade to leave the final match as a no contest! I know why this was booked this way, but it was a bit silly!

Candice LeRae VS Naomi, Cody Rhodes and Gunther Come Face-to-Face, DIY VS Motor City Machine Guns: WWE Tag Team Championships Number 1 Contender’s Match

Tiffany Stratton was back this week as she offered to help Nia Jax with whatever she needed, but Nia said she’d already found someone in the form of Candice LeRae! LA Knight then got into a heated backstage discussion with Nick Aldis which resulted in Aldis booking a Triple Threat Match for the United States Championship at Crown Jewel before it was time for Candice LeRae to go one-on-one with Naomi. This contest was totally fine, I thought they did some decent moves, and I always enjoy watching Candice wrestle. Towards the end, Indi Hartwell tried to make her presence known, but she was taken out by Bayley which allowed Naomi to pick up the win with an innovative roll-up!

It was then time for the arrival of two Champions as Gunther and Cody Rhodes came Face-to-Face! Cody wanted to know the reason why Gunther wants to walk out of Crown Jewel as the standing Champion, and Gunther’s response was that he’s doing it for him because he knows he’s the Best Wrestler in the entire company! The Ring General then called The American Nightmare “gutless” after throwing more shots at the Undisputed WWE Champion which is when Rhodes started a brawl, only for Ludwig Kaiser to arrive to give the World Heavyweight Champion the numbers advantage! This was definetly the best segment between these two yet, Gunther was brilliant here!

Nick Aldis, Ava, and Adam Pearce announced a Fatal 4-Way Match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships at Crown Jewel before DIY clashed with the Motor City Machine Guns for the right to fight for the WWE Tag Team Championships! This was a good match, you could tell both teams have so much respect for each other, and it was fun to watch! Both teams definetly could’ve won this one, but after a miscommunication between Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley hit their Tag Team finisher to score the win!

The Bloodline VS Motor City Machine Guns: WWE Tag Team Championships

The Bloodline were out next to introduce themselves to the Motor City Machine Guns, and after some fighting talk, we got an impromptu WWE Tag Team Championships match! However, the match itself here wasn’t that important, it was everything that happened on the outside! See, Jimmy Uso arrived to try and take out Solo Sikoa, but that didn’t exactly work! However, Roman Reigns’ music then hit as The Head of The Table started a brawl with Jacob Fatu as all four men headed to the back. We then got a ref bump which allowed The Bloodline to grab a pair of chairs, but this is when Tonga Loa was dropped by a Superkick and Tama Tonga was floored by a Spear as “Main Event” Jey Uso made his presence known! All of this madness then led to the Motor City Machine Guns hitting “Skull and Bones” onto Tonga to pick up the win and be crowned as the brand-new WWE Tag Team Champions! The show wasn’t done there though as finally, Jimmy and Jey Uso embraced as Roman Reigns watched from the ramp! This was a wild last 10 minutes!
