WWE Friday Night SmackDown Review: 18/10

The Bloodline Start the Show, DIY VS The Street Profits VS Pretty Deadly: WWE Tag Team Championships Number 1 Contender’s Qualifying Match

Friday Night SmackDown kicked off this week with The Bloodline as Solo Sikoa demanded acknowledgment from the WWE Universe! Solo then said that Roman Reigns has to acknowledge him personally by the end of the night before Jey Uso made a surprise appearance to have a chat with his “little bro”! Jey told Sikoa that he can take the power if he wants it, but he can't keep tearing his family apart in the process! Solo clearly didn’t have any interest in listening to what his brother had to say which is when we got a great bit where Jey threatened to drop Jacob Fatu! Uso then left, but made it clear that when he sees Sikoa again, it’s going to be a lot different to this! This was cool!

It was then time for the opening match of the night as The Street Profits, Pretty Deadly, and DIY fought for the opportunity to head to next week’s Number 1 Contender’s Match! This was a decent little match, all 3 teams are very talented, and I’m never going to complain when I get to see DIY and old PD face off! Montez Ford was also doing plenty of dives because of course he was, and overall this was alright! However, I really liked the ending as after Ford and Dawkins delivered their Tag Team finisher to Elton Prince, Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano hit Meet in the Middle onto Kit Wilson which is when the referee counted to 3! Now, both teams thought they’d won, but the result was indeed handed to DIY as Wilson was the legal competitor, not Elton! I thought that was pretty cool given most of the time the referees don’t seem to have a clue as to what’s going on!

Lash Legend VS Piper Niven, Cody Rhodes Promo, A-Town Down Under VS Los Garza VS Motor City Machine Guns: WWE Tag Team Championships Number 1 Contender’s Qualifying Match, Nia Jax and Candice LeRae VS Bayley and Naomi

Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso arrived at the arena to stand face-to-face with Jey Uso! Whilst Roman told his cousin that he was proud of him, Jey wanted nothing to do with his former Tribal Chief! Nia Jax was then asking for her Tag Team match to get cancelled because Tiffany Stratton was unavailable, but Aldis rejected the request before he booked Candice LeRae as her replacement (because Candice was bragging about becoming the inaugural Women’s Speed Champion)! Lash Legend then made her Main Roster singles debut as she went one-on-one with Piper Niven! This was a pretty short match, but I enjoyed it! Lash’s power game is so impressive, she’s really good to watch, and I really like Piper Niven, she’s incredibly underrated! Chelsea Green did her best to interfere, but she was taken out by Jakara Jackson before Legend dropped Niven with a nice move to score the 3 count!

Roman Reigns told Jimmy Uso that it’s time to fix things his way before Cody Rhodes came out to talk about the inaugural Crown Jewel Championship! Cody said he wants to win it so his name will be in history forever, and then he invited Gunther to appear on SmackDown next week! This was honestly all that happened here, I’m just not convinced by any of this!

Kevin Owens sent a video in where he called WWE unfair for stopping him from coming to the shows and that he really questions his value to the company! Randy Orton then told Nick Aldis that he wants to get his hands on KO, but Aldis said he couldn’t give him that because “the powers above” have already said no! It was then time for the Motor City Machine Guns to make their WWE debuts when they took on A-Town Down Under and Los Garza! To be fair, the MCMG looked pretty decent, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley are highly-touted names, and this was a good start for them! Of course, it helps when you have strong sellers in A-Town Down Under and Los Garza in there, but that’s always the case! Of course, it was Sabin and Shelley that picked up their win following a nice double team!

Andrade and Carmelo Hayes got into a brawl backstage before the Main Event match of the night saw Nia Jax team up with Candice LeRae to take on the duo of Bayley and Naomi! This was a fine match, it wasn’t special by any means, but it was nice to see Candice LeRae in this spot! In fact, Candice played a much bigger role in this than Queen Nia herself, and after some interference from Indi Hartwell, LeRae delivered a lovely moonsault onto Bayley to score the shock win! I mean, even the WWE Women’s Champion was stunned, but I think this could be the start of another fascinating story surrounding Jax and her Title!

Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa Come Face-to-Face

After Nick Aldis announced LA Knight as the Special Guest Referee for Part 7 of Andrade VS Carmelo Hayes, Roman Reigns headed down to the ring for a face-to-face confrontation with Solo Sikoa! Roman questioned Solo’s belief that the family is stronger than ever, and he’ll do whatever it takes to get The Bloodline back to the promise lands! Solo’s response to this was that Roman needed to acknowledge him, but he wasn’t impressed by his cousin's original response so he demanded to be acknowledged as The Tribal Chief! However, Reigns wasn’t having any of this which is when the rest of The Bloodline arrived with a decimated Jimmy Uso! The Head of The Table then did his best to fight off the four Bloodline members, but he had little chance and the show went off the air with Solo Sikoa standing tall after two Samoan Spikes to his former leader! Reigns is going to have to call Sami Zayn soon!
