WWE Friday Night SmackDown Review: 13/12

Jimmy Uso Starts the Show, Tiffany Stratton VS Michin: Women’s United States Championship Tournament (Semi-Finals)

Friday Night SmackDown kicked off this week with a surprise appearance from Jimmy Uso as “Big Jim” talked about how much WarGames took out of him, but that he’s super proud of his Family! Jimmy then said that 2025 has to be a big year for him which is why he’s shooting straight for the top before Uso turned around and got wrecked by a Drew McIntyre Claymore! Drew then walked off very amused with himself as The Scottish Psychopath continues to wreak havoc on the ones who stood by Roman Reigns!

After Nia Jax talked to Tiffany Stratton and Naomi told Nick Aldis that she’d be Bianca Belair’s Tag Team partner going forward after Aldis said he’d have to strip Belair of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles, it was time for the first match of the night as Michin and Tiffany Stratton collided in the first Semi-Final in the Women’s United States Championship Tournament! This match was alright, they did some decent stuff, I think this was a weird match to have at this stage of the Tournament honestly, but it is what it is! Ultimately, despite connecting with the Prettiest Moonsault Ever in some fashion, it was Michin who nailed Stratton with Eat Defeat to score the win and send herself to the Final!

Carmelo Hayes VS ?, LA Knight VS Solo Sikoa, Bayley VS Chelsea Green: Women’s United States Championship Tournament (Semi-Finals)

DIY cut a great video promo talking about their actions and why they’re the Best Tag Team in the World before we got a dramatic video from Roman Reigns where he talked about his difficult year, but that he will get all of his power back on the first Raw on Netflix as he challenged Solo Sikoa to Tribal Combat! Legado Del Fantasma then threatened Nick Aldis with moving over to Monday Night Raw before Carmelo Hayes headed down to the ring to take on his mystery opponent! That mystery opponent was none other than Braun Strowman, and despite Melo giving it a good go, Braun literally needed two moves to win it after hitting a Running Powerslam! I don’t know how I feel about all of this honestly!

Grade: C+ (Because of Melo’s acting)

LA Knight cut a fun promo backstage saying this whole Bloodline mess is a waste of his time before The Megastar went one-on-one with Solo Sikoa! The crowd were into this which helped it from being more than just a standard TV match, but there really isn’t much to write home about! What I will say though is after LA originally caught out Jacob Fatu, The Samoan Werewolf got back onto his feet and destroyed Knight, causing the DQ before Solo Sikoa made light work of Andrade and Apollo Crews!

Grade: C+

Pretty Deadly tried and failed to get Braun Strowman to sign up for their Musical before A-Town Down Under had better success at getting Braun on The Grayson Waller Effect! It was then time for the other Semi-Final in the Women’s United States Championship Tournament as Bayley took on Chelsea Green! This match was actually a little underwhelming given the talent involved, it didn’t really click, and it seemed like WWE cared more about advertising the new Mufasa Movie than anything else! Piper Niven was able to make her presence known a couple of times, but she didn’t really do too much, but despite that, it was Ms. Green who scored the win with the Unpretti-her! Chelsea VS Michin at Saturday Nights Main Event for the right to be crowned as the inaugural Women’s United States Champion is certainly an interesting one!

Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens Come Face-to-Face

After video promos for Motor City Machine Guns, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Candice LeRae getting herself and Nia Jax a WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match for next week, the final segment of the show saw Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens come Face-to-Face! However, as per usual, Kevin Owens appeared in his car via satellite as KO told Michael Cole to ask Cody why he decided it would be okay for him to team with Roman Reigns! As per usual, Rhodes ducked this question as he went and found Owens before a big brawl broke out, resulting in KO standing tall after nailing The American Nightmare with his Undisputed WWE Championship! I really hope KO wins tonight, but I don’t think it’s going to happen!
