WWE Friday Night SmackDown Review: 08/11

Roman Reigns Starts the Show, Bayley VS Candice LeRae

After a recap of Crown Jewel, this week’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown kicked off with Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso as Roman wanted to talk about what happened in Saudi Arabia. However, before Reigns could say anything, Jey Uso interrupted him to say that he should hear Sami Zayn out which is when Sami arrived to talk about how the four of them reuniting would be special. However, for that to happen, Roman needed to apologise to Jey Uso for his actions. Of course, Reigns didn’t do this as he blamed Jey for wasting his time before The Head of the Table called out Solo Sikoa. However, Jacob Fatu then appeared on the screen to say that Solo will come out when he wants to, not when Roman demands it which obviously ticked off The OTC! This was a good segment, Sami and Roman were particually good!

Roman Reigns got angry again at Jey Uso backstage over him caring about Sami Zayn which is when Jey warned Roman that if he gets like this again, he’s out! Jimmy Uso also wasn’t impressed with his cousin before Bayley took on Candice LeRae in the opening match of the night. Both of these women are veterans so they knew what they were doing, and I thought it was decent enough! The finish was also an interesting one as Candice pulled out her usual trick of feigning an injury, but Bayley was to wise for this and picked up the win via roll-up! I’m not sure whether this was good or bad, but it was certainly something different!

DIY VS Pretty Deadly, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill VS Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton, Motor City Machine Guns VS A-Town Down Under

Johnny Gargano was having a friendly conversation with the Motor City Machine Guns, but Tommaso Ciampa wasn’t impressed with this at all! Randy Orton then stormed to the ring to call out Kevin Owens which KO answered as a brawl started which ended with Owens giving Orton a Piledriver! Randy was then stretched out of the arena and into an ambulance, and yeah, this was wild! Anyway, it was then time for a Tag Team Match as DIY took on Pretty Deadly. However, it wasn’t really a Tag Team Match as Tommaso Ciampa absolutely wrecked Kit Wilson and Elton Prince before he just won with the Fairytale Ending! On the one hand, this wasn’t a good look for Pretty Deadly, but on the other, Ciampa looked awesome here!

Candice LeRae and Tiffany Stratton had a heated conversation backstage before Tiffany teamed up with Nia Jax to take on Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill! This was a pretty standard match, there isn’t much to shout about, but I was glad that Nia stood tall in her exchange with Cargill. Interestingly, Candice LeRae arrived to try and help the Heels, but Tiffany Stratton was far too stubborn to win this way which cost them as Naomi took out LeRae before Belair dropped Stratton with the K.O.D. to get the 1.2.3!

It as then time for more Tag Team action as the Motor City Machine Guns took on A-Town Down Under! This was the best match of the night for me, it was pretty evenly contested between two really good teams! The MCMG’s are very impressive, and have been a great addition to WWE whilst Austin Theory and Grayson Waller are both very underrated! In the end, it was the WWE Tag Team Champions who picked up the victory courtesy of Skull and Bones!

Solo Sikoa’s Undisputed Tribal Chief Acknowledgement Ceremony

After Tommaso Ciampa got even angrier and Nick Aldis announced the brand-new Women’s United States Championship, the last segment of the show saw The Bloodline arrive for the Undisputed Tribal Chief Acknowledgement Ceremony! Before Solo could say much though, Roman Reigns arrived to say that he will never Acknowledge his cousin which is when Sikoa challenged Reigns to WarGames! Interestingly, Solo seemed to believe that Sami Zayn would be the 5th man on his team which is when The Bloodline attacked Reigns, leading to a big brawl with The Usos. Solo then demanded Sami come down to the ring and kick Roman in the head, but Zayn instead nailed Sikoa with a Helluva Kick before The O.G. Bloodline all united in what was a pretty cool moment!
