WWE Crown Jewel 2024 Review

Roman Reigns and The Usos VS The Bloodline

Credit: WWE

WWE Crown Jewel 2024 kicked off with Roman Reigns and The Usos reuniting to take on The (new) Bloodline! Straight away, Jey Uso getting his own entrance after Roman Reigns was great, it really showed that he is his own man nowadays! The match itself I thought was really good, it was a lot quicker-paced than normal matches involving Roman Reigns, and I thought everything was done in a really strong manner! The Bloodline are so good; Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga are all great whilst Roman Reigns and The Usos are just top-tier! Of course, we got a ref bump, but amazingly, this led into Jacob Fatu destroying Roman, Jimmy, and Jey before Solo delivered a couple of Samoan Spikes onto Reigns to pin The Head of the Table! This was a massive shock, and so was what came after the match as when it looked like Jey Uso was about to be finished off by The Bloodline, Sami Zayn arrived to make the save and take out Solo and his crew, but interestingly, after Sikoa got out of the way, Sami nailed Roman in the head with a Helluva Kick! Of course, this was portrayed as an accident, but was it really?

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships: Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill VS Damage CTRL VS Meta-Four VS Chelsea Green and Piper Niven

Credit: WWE

The first Championship match of the night saw Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill put their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships on the line in a Fatal 4-Way against Damage CTRL, Meta-Four, and Chelsea Green and Piper Niven! I thought this was a good match, I think it was well structured, I thought Damage CTRL were particually good, but everybody played their part! Lash Legend looked great, as did Jakara Jackson, whilst Chelsea Green and Piper Niven are always a lot of fun! However, despite some great high-flying offense from all, it was Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill who retained their Women’s Tag Team Titles after pinning Piper Niven!

Bronson Reed VS Seth “Freakin” Rollins

Before the match could even begin, a massive brawl got underway between Bronson Reed and Seth “Freakin” Rollins before the match started with Bronson delivering a Tsunami and Seth hitting a Stomp! The match then very much calmed down, but I still thought it was pretty decent, I like both men a lot, so I was still able to enjoy it! Interestingly though, Bronson was in control of this contest, but Seth was smart enough to get Reed into position to deliver a Stomp onto the steel steps before Rollins delivered another two Stomps to pick up the victory!

Women’s Crown Jewel Championship: Liv Morgan VS Nia Jax

It was then time for Liv Morgan and Nia Jax to collide for the right to be crowned the inaugural Women’s Crown Jewel Champion! This match was slightly disappointing for me, it’s the Women’s World Champion VS the WWE Women’s Champion, but it just didn’t click. Nia dominated Liv, but Tiffany Stratton then arrived to cash in her Money in the Bank Briefcase, and this distracted Jax before Raquel Rodriguez arrived to take out Stratton! This then opened the door for Dominik Mysterio to distract the referee with Tiffany’s MITB Briefcase which allowed Raquel to take out Queen Nia, opening the door for Morgan to win with ObLIVion! Like I said, it was disappointing to me, but it’s a great moment for Liv!

United States Championship: LA Knight VS Andrade VS Carmelo Hayes

Credit: WWE

After Kevin Owens-Randy Orton turned into a massive brawl, the next match saw the United States Championship on the line as LA Knight defended against both Andrade and Carmelo Hayes! This was very much a strong showing for Carmelo Hayes, who very much proved that he is definetly a future Champion on the Main Roster, but Andrade also deserves praise because he is so good! In terms of the match, I actually thought it was the best one of the night in-ring-wise, and the finish was great as LA Knight caught Melo mid-air with a BFT to pick up the win and retain his US Title!

Men’s Crown Jewel Championship: Gunther VS Cody Rhodes

Credit: Wrestling Observer

And in the Main Event, Gunther and Cody Rhodes collided for the right to be crowned the inaugural Men’s Crown Jewel Champion! This was a hard-hitting contest, both men were getting into it, and it was pretty decent! Gunther is so damn good, he’s just brilliant, and Cody Rhodes was very much holding his own here! Both men came close to winning, but it was Gunther who looked the closest to winning after locking in a sleeper hold. However, the Undisputed WWE Champion rolled through brilliantly to pin the World Heavyweight Champion to be crowned the Men’s Crown Jewel Champion! Personally, I would’ve had Gunther win this match, but I understand why they did it!
