Gunther Starts the Show, Liv Morgan VS Bayley

This year’s special edition of WrestleMania Raw kicked off with Gunther in the ring cutting a promo on “Main Event” Jey Uso! This was supposed to be an interview segment conducted by Michael Cole, but Gunther didn’t care about Cole’s questions one bit as the World Heavyweight Champion seethed over the idea of losing his Title to someone like Uso! However, Gunther made it clear that he cannot wait to destroy Jey once and for all at WrestleMania, and his phone call after the weekend is over with his Mom is going to be so satisfying! Gunther was incredibly fired up here, you could tell there was an even bigger edge to him than normal this week, and The Ring General knows it’s on him to deliver the goods on Saturday!

After a Bianca Belair promo, it was time for the first match of the night as Liv Morgan took on Bayley! This was sort of a prelude for the upcoming WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships Match that will take place at WrestleMania, and I thought this was a good opening contest! Bayley has now had another really strong showing, but that shouldn’t be too much of a surprise whilst Liv Morgan continues to thrive! Raquel Rodriguez and Lyra Valkyria also got involved here, with Lyra’s influence proving to be more effective as it allowed Bayley to sneak away with a roll-up win!

Rey Mysterio VS Julius Creed, AJ Styles VS Karrion Kross

Rhea Ripley got her own video promo saying she’s taking back what she never should’ve lost before Rey Mysterio was ready to have a match with Julius Creed! This was another decent match, Julius Creed is so good at what he does, he should be doing more post-WrestleMania, and Rey Mysterio is always at his best when he’s facing bigger/stronger opponents! Every member of American Made and The LWO were sent to the back after jumping onto the apron, but that wouldn’t stop El Grande Americano from making an appearance towards the end of the contest. Now, Rey was still able to get the win over Julius Creed, but it was El Grande who stood tall following another diving headbutt to Mysterio!

The War Raiders cut a promo saying that WrestleMania is now going to be a War after The New Day tried to end Erik’s career last week, and this led to a promo segment from Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods who said they’re bringing home the World Tag Team Championships! Karrion Kross’ old entrance then made its return as Kross was set to go one-on-one with AJ Styles! This was a solid match, it was more focused on the psychology side of Professional Wrestling as Karrion tried to get into the head of AJ, even getting his gear made by the same person who makes Styles’! After Kross got a cheap shot in following faking an injury, this really fired AJ up as The Phenomenal One got into a flurry before he nailed Kross with the Phenomenal Forearm to get the win! However, the really interesting thing about this is Karrion Kross probably could’ve reversed this, but he chose not to, putting both of his hands behind his back! After the match, Logan Paul came out to make everyone watch a video package highlighting how great he is, and then a fight broke out in the ring between Styles and Kross, allowing Logan to nail AJ with both the One Lucky Punch and the Paulveriser to stand tall! I actually think AJ-Logan should be really good!

Jey Uso Speaks, Finn Balor VS Penta

Jey Uso was out next as he made his way down to ringside in a very serious manner whilst the entire WWE Universe “Yeeted” around him! Jey was talking about the importance of winning on Saturday, but I think it became pretty clear to Uso that for him to win the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41, he’s going to need an entire army behind him which is why he too started to YEET! Whilst the more serious promo that “Main Event” Jey Uso cut last week was better, I don’t have a problem with this segment because Jey needs the crowd on his side!

Bron Breakker was in the middle of cutting a promo when he was attacked by The Judgment Day backstage, and this led into the Main Event match of the night as Finn Balor clashed with Penta! This was a decent encounter, it flowed pretty well, and these matches are always interesting to me because the winner is almost guaranteed to lose at WrestleMania! However, in this instance, there wasn’t a winner or a loser as Bron Breakker ran down and wiped Finn out with a clothesline before he delivered a double Spear to both Balor and Dominik Mysterio! However, it was Penta who ended up standing tall as he wiped everyone out with a dive! I still think Dominik will win the Intercontinental Championship at Mania this weekend, but we’ll have to wait and see!

Roman Reigns, CM Punk, and Seth “Freakin” Rollins Close the Show

After an Iyo Sky video promo, Roman Reigns arrived at the arena to see Paul Heyman hanging out with CM Punk! Roman then stormed down to the ring and asked Paul why he betrayed him, saying he doesn’t owe anyone anything, and Paul made it clear that this wasn’t a betrayal, but instead him giving back a favour that he owed! This brought out Seth “Freakin” Rollins who said that if Roman wins on Saturday, we will get many more years of people just showing up when they want which will result in Wrestling dying! If CM Punk wins, we’ll get a lot more people growing up to be CM Punk, and that too will mean that Wrestling will die! Because of this, Seth Rollins has to win on Saturday because the company will thrive off having more people that put everything on the line like he does, and then Seth pointed out to Roman that Paul Heyman made his choice to side with Punk over his Tribal Chief! Reigns agreed with Rollins which is when he decked The Visionary with a clothesline, but he also shoved his Wiseman over too, leading to CM Punk running down to try and make the save! However, Roman would then deliver a Spear to Punk, shortly followed by a chair shot to the back from Rollins (Shield style) before Seth delivered a Stomp to both Roman and Punk to end WrestleMania Raw standing tall! This was another fantastic segment involving Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Seth “Freakin” Rollins, and Paul Heyman! I think this has been the best feud heading into WrestleMania this year, and the match on Saturday could honestly go a number of different ways!
