Reacting to My ABB FIA Formula E Season 10 Predictions

Yes, Season 10 of ABB FIA Formula E has finally come to a close which means it’s time for me to look back at Predictions that prove why I actually have no idea what I’m talking about! Or at least that’s how it usually goes, so who knows, maybe this time will be different (fingers are very much crossed)?!

P22: Sergio Sette Camara

Okay, this isn’t a terrible start as Sergio Sette Camara managed to finish 20th in the Championship with 11 points to his name. I didn’t expect much from Sette Camara and ERT, and there weren’t really any good results to talk about in the second half of the year, with Sergio’s best result being a P6 in the second Race at Misano (Round 7). Still, at least I had Sette Camara to lose to his teammate!

P21: Oliver Rowland

To be honest, this could be one of the worst Predictions I’ve ever made! Oliver Rowland absolutely smashed all my beliefs and expectations as he managed to score 156 points on his way to 4th in the Championship! Rowland won 2 E-Prix’s this year, picked up another 5 Podiums, and scored a ridiculous 130 points more than his Nissan teammate (who we’ll get to later)! And just when you think my Prediction can’t get any worse, Ollie Rowland missed the entire Portland E-Prix Weekend which probably cost him a spot on the Championship Podium!

P20: Nico Muller

This is another Prediction where I’m absolutely nowhere as Nico Muller had a great season that saw him end up 12th in the Standings! Nico finished P4 in the second Misano Race, and he finished no lower than P6 in each of the last 4 Races of the Season which is absolutely incredible! Oh, and Muller also missed 2 Races to boot!

P19: Dan Ticktum

My first correct Prediction is here as Dan Ticktum did in fact finish P19! I haven’t really got much to say on Dan Ticktum’s season because it wasn’t exactly the best, but I do like how his only points-scoring finish of the Season was P4 in Misano (Saturday).

P18: Lucas di Grassi

2024 did not go to plan for Lucas di Grassi as he managed to finish an “amazing” 23rd in the Championship! To be fair to Lucas, he did have quite a few P11 finishes, but he actually only managed to squeeze into the points on 3 occasions and that’s why he’s ultimately finished as low as he did (and made me lose my winning streak quickly)!

P17: Sacha Fenestraz

This is the worst correct Prediction I will ever get! Sacha Fenestraz did indeed finish 17th in the Championship with 26 points, but he was actually pretty terrible this year as he failed to score any points in each of the last 7 Races and he finished 130 points behind his teammate Oliver Rowland despite me saying that Fenestraz was Nissan’s best driver! My oh my!

P16: Jake Hughes

I wasn’t a million miles away with this Prediction as Jake Hughes ended up 14th with 48 points! Jake struggled for a lot of the season, but in fairness to him, Hughes did manage to achieve his first-ever Podium in the series with a P2 in the second Race in Shanghai, and he also managed to pick up 2 Pole Positions which is pretty good going!

P15: Edoardo Mortara

I was close here as Edoardo Mortara finished just behind in P16! Edo Mortara was very much hindered by the fact that Mahindra were not very good this year, but Mortara did manage to take Pole in Berlin and he also finished P4 in Portland (and P5 in London) which is pretty strong! It’s also worth mentioning that Edo did beat his teammate so I was wrong about that!

P14: Jehan Daruvala

I didn’t expect much from Jehan Daruvala in 2024, he was the only Rookie on the Grid after all, but even I overestimated him (clearly) as Daruvala ended up a shocking 21st in the Championship! Daruvala was terrible this year, he achieved just 2 points scoring finishes all season whilst his Maserati MSG teammate ended up 13 places higher in the Standings. So overall, both my Prediction and Jehan Daruvala’s season were pretty poor!

P13: Nyck de Vries

2024 just didn’t go to plan for Nyck de Vries as he ended up finishing 5 places lower than I expected in P18! De Vries really struggled in the first half of the year before he missed Berlin for WEC, but Nyck did return with a P7 finish in Shanghai before he ended his season strong with a P4 in the first London E-Prix! Now whilst this Prediction was again wrong and Nyck de Vries’ season didn’t go particually great, I do think he’ll do better next year, and I also think Mahindra let him down a little!

P12: Sam Bird

I nearly got this one right as Sam Bird ultimately finished one place lower (in P13). Sam Bird started the season amazingly, winning the Sao Paulo E-Prix (Round 4), but after that, Bird only finished in the points 3 more times and only finished 1 other Race which isn’t exactly the best record! Still, at least my Prediction was close!

P11: Robin Frijns

Robin Frijns actually did better than I expected as he made a Top 10 appearance, ultimately finishing in 9th! Whilst the middle part of the season wasn’t easy, Frijns was still able to secure 3 second-place finishes in 2024, including 2 in Portland! That’s not bad going from Robin, and he also beat his teammate which is something I didn’t expect!

P10: Stoffel Vandoorne

My second correct Prediction sees Stoffel Vandoorne rightly come home in P10! Stoffel Vandoorne actually did alright this year, coming home in the points in 11 of the 16 Rounds, but just 1 Podium for Stoffel seems a bit disappointing given he’s the Season 8 Champ! However, Vandoorne will be hoping for more when he joins a new team next year, and I’m very pleased with myself for getting this one right!

P9: Antonio Felix da Costa

Antonio Felix da Costa’s season was very much one of two halves, but he ultimately did better than I expected to finish P6 in the Standings! Da Costa had a pretty difficult start to the year, not helped by the fact that he lost his Misano win (and 25 points) through no fault of his own. However, when DAC got going, DAC really got going as he won 4 in 5 (including both Races in Portland) to give himself a small shot at winning the Drivers’ Title in London which is actually pretty impressive (even if he didn’t actually manage it). So yeah, a positive year overall for Antonio Felix da Costa!

P8: Sebastien Buemi

I overestimated Sebastien Buemi a bit this year as the Swiss driver ultimately dropped out of the Top 10 to a P11 finish! Sebastien Buemi picked up 2 Podiums this year, a P2 in Mexico City, and a P3 in London, but the 13 Races between those 2 Rounds were actually pretty meh! In fact, Buemi scored 27 of his 53 points in the final weekend of the year so I should be thankful as otherwise, this Prediction would look a lot worse!

P7: Norman Nato

Nope, I was nowhere with this one! I expected a lot of big things out of Norman Nato after a strong Season 9 in a weaker team, but it didn’t pan out that way at all as Nato finished only P15 in the Standings with just the one Podium to his name (P3 in Shanghai)! Whilst Andretti weren’t as good this year as Season 9, Norman still should’ve done a lot better than this, and he’s ultimately going to lose his seat as a result!

P6: Maximilian Gunther

I was just a little bit off with this one as Maximilian Gunther ended up in a respectful 8th place! I labelled Max Gunther as the one to watch in my Predictions article, and that was looking to be the case earlier on in the year after he won in Tokyo and followed it up with a P3 in Misano. Unfortunately, Gunther only managed to add 10 points to his tally in the remaining 10 Rounds and that’s meant he’s finished lower than I anticipated!

P5: Jean-Eric Vergne

I’m clearly just a genius when it comes to predicting DS Penske right! Whilst Jean-Eric Vergne didn’t manage to win a Race in Season 10, he did pick up 3 Podiums and he only missed out on points in 2 Races which is really good going! I rate JEV highly, and I’m not surprised he did this well, I’m just glad I got another Prediction right!

P4: Pascal Wehrlein

The man I thought would finish 4th ultimately went on to become a World Champion! Pascal Wehrlein had an amazing year, finishing in the points in 14 of the 16 Rounds, winning 3 Races, and also picking up another 2 Podiums! My only saving grace with this Prediction was I said Wehrlein is the first driver that I think could win the Title, so at least I had him in the conversation!

P3: Mitch Evans

Both me and Mitch Evans came close to glory as The Kiwi ended up second in the Championship! Mitch was super strong this year, making 6 appearance to the Rostrum (including 2 wins) and he ended up finishing just 6 points off the Title! At the end of my Prediction about Evans, I said that he’d just miss out on the Title again and it would be cruel! Safe to say that that was very true!

P2: Jake Dennis

It just wasn’t meant to be for Jake Dennis as he finished a lot lower down in 7th! Jake had a great start to the year, he was looking well in the fight to go back-to-back, but after being taken out in Monaco, Dennis failed to reach the Podium again and finished out of the points as many times as he finished in them! I do think you have to give the Season 9 Champion a little leeway as Andretti clearly weren’t as strong and it’s very difficult to retain the Title in this series, but yeah, it just wasn’t a great year for the talented Brit!

P1: Nick Cassidy

I honestly think I need to apologise to Nick Cassidy after what went down at the end of this Championship! Nick Cassidy was amazing for so much of Season 10, winning 2 Races and finishing on the Podium another 6 times! However, everything went wrong for Cassidy in the final two weekends as he scored just 9 points in the entirety of the last 4 Rounds to end up just third in the Championship! I said at the start of the year that I’d be worried if I was a Nick Cassidy fan given I predicted him to win the whole thing, and that proved to be totally correct!

Note: Thank you for reading this article, I appreciate it, and I look forward to returning to Formula E with my Season 11 Predictions towards the end of the year (yes, the end of the year)!
