Exactly one year ago today, I uploaded an article where I predicted every WWE Superstar’s 2023 in “3 Words or Less”. I’m not going to react to every single one of my Predictions as that would take forever, but I am going to highlight my 10 best and 10 worst Predictions. The format is pretty simple, 1 Bad Prediction followed by 1 Good Prediction.
My 10th-worst Prediction was that Odyssey Jones would have a Big Singles Push. That really didn’t happen as Odyssey was barely featured on NXT before he was called up to the Main Roster only to do absolutely nothing!
My 10th-best Prediction was Carmelo Hayes would become NXT Champion. This happened at NXT Stand and Deliver, but I also don’t feel too proud of this Prediction as it felt like it was Melo’s destiny,
My 9th-worst Prediction was that Charlotte Flair would return and win the 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble. The funny thing about this Prediction is less than two days after I uploaded my original Predictions article, Charlotte returned and dethroned Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown Women’s Championship!
My 9th-best Prediction was Edge would Wrestle his final Mania Match. Whilst we don’t know if this will stay true forever, I’m taking this as a small win considering Edge is no longer in the company.
My 8th-worst Prediction was Becky Lynch would Main Event WrestleMania 39. Becky did appear on the show, but she certainly didn’t Main Event it and honestly, I don’t really know who I thought she was going to face!
My 8th-best Prediction was Seth “Freakin” Rollins would be the Wrestler of the Year. This is a rather subjective Prediction so I can’t fully say it’s correct, but he’s certainly up there!
My 7th-worst Prediction was that Charlie Dempsey would receive a large push! Other than a couple of Championship opportunities and joining Drew Gulak’s faction, Dempsey really hasn’t done much in 2023.
My 7th-best Prediction was Austin Theory would beat John Cena. I’m happy with this one, even though it was a moment that was expected.
My 6th-worst Prediction was I said that Von Wagner “would still suck”. I must apologise to Von because he’s actually had a pretty decent year and not many things have made me laugh more in 2023 than Wagner’s visit to Mr. Stone’s house!
My 6th-best Prediction saw me say that Lyra Valkyria would have a Breakout Year. Winning the NXT Women’s Championship shows that that did happen.
My 5th-worst Prediction was Gunther would battle Roman Reigns. This didn’t happen in any way shape or form, but there’s always next year (there really isn’t)!
My 5th-best Prediction was Montez Ford would turn Heel. It’s safe to say I got this one right and I’m overall pretty happy with it (even though it didn’t happen the way I expected it to).
My 4th-worst Prediction was Javier Bernal would have a Breakout Year! If anything, Big Body Javi went backwards in 2023 which is a shame as he’s fun to watch.
My 4th-best Prediction was Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn would team up. I remember feeling confident about this Prediction and it’s proved to be correct!
My 3rd-worst Prediction was Blair Davenport would become the Women’s Champion of NXT Europe. The reason this isn’t the worst Prediction is Blair’s actually had a decent year in NXT, but this still isn’t a very good one considering NXT Europe still hasn’t even happened yet!
My 3rd-best Prediction was Drew Gulak would start a Faction and Damon Kemp would join it. If anything, I actually got two Predictions correct here which is why it’s so high up on my list (even if it’s not that important).
My 2nd-worst Prediction was Cody Rhodes would return the Night after WrestleMania. This absolutely didn’t happen as Cody returned and won the Men’s Royal Rumble before he faced Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the Main Event of WrestleMania!
My 2nd-best Prediction was Kevin Owens would feature in a major WrestleMania match. This very much happened as KO Main Evented Night 1 (for the second year running) in a Tag Team match with Sami Zayn against The Usos.
My single worst WWE Prediction of 2023 was Karrion Kross would lose to Roman Reigns in a match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. My oh my! First of all, Karrion’s barely been on TV all year and he’s certainly not been anywhere near Championship contention. Second of all, Roman’s barely been around to defend his Title other than when he’s faced the industry's top stars.
My Best Prediction when it came to WWE in 2023 was LA Knight would become a Massive Babyface. Given the crowd reactions that Knight receives plus the opportunities he’s been given in 2023, I think it’s fair to say that this Prediction was a major W!
