Premier League Roundup: 2022/23 Season Awards

After a long season which saw it basically get split into two with the World Cup, the Premier League Season is finally over which means it’s time for my final Premier League Roundup of the Season, the 2022/23 Season Awards. There are a total of 11 awards up for grabs with 6 nominees in each category. Some of the categories are self-explanatory whilst “Breakout Player of the Season” is an award given to someone you may not have heard of before the season whilst “Most Underappreciated Player of the Season” is an award for players that haven’t made other categories and deserve a mention. Also, I will give my winner at the end of each category whilst there will also be a poll for you to vote who you would choose out of the nominees and the writing may be repeated if a player is a nominee for multiple awards. Let’s get started, shall we?

Goalkeeper of the Season Nominees:

David De Gea

We start with the man who won this season’s Golden Glove, David De Gea. David De Gea kept 17 clean sheets in 38 league games which is a pretty decent record and he also conceded (on average) the 4th least amount of goals between the 20 starting keepers this season. However, his other stats aren’t the greatest. De Gea is ranked 9th in Save percentage (70.1%) and he’s conceded 1.5 goals more than he should’ve according to the Goals prevented stat (11th overall). A decent year for De Gea, but also not amazing.

Nick Pope

It’s fair to say that Nick Pope has had a successful first year at Newcastle United. Nick Pope kept 14 clean sheets in 37 league games (4th best) and most importantly, Nick Pope averaged the joint-best record when it came to GCPG (0.9). Pope also ranked 4th in Save percentage (73.1%) and 7th in goals prevented (+0.2) which is all pretty good. What a signing by Newcastle this was!

Alisson

Whilst this nomination may be a bit surprising, Alisson Becker’s had a much stronger year than people have really given him credit for. Alisson kept 14 clean sheets in 37 league games (joint 2nd best) and the Brazilian Keeper was ranked 2nd in Goals prevented with a massive +8.5. Alisson also ranked 7th in both Save percentage (71.5%) and GCPG (1.2). A good year for Alisson (personally).

Emiliano Martinez

Emiliano Martinez definitely proved why Aston Villa made a great move in signing him a few years ago. Emi Martinez kept 11 clean sheets in 36 league games (7th best) and he ranked 3rd in GCPG (1.1) which is very impressive. Martinez also ranked 5th in Save percentage (72.1%), but he only ranked 8th in Goals prevented with a negative grade which does hurt his chances of winning this award a bit (-0.9). Despite this, it’s still been a great year for the man that won the World Cup in December.

David Raya

David Raya had by far the best year of his career this season. David Raya kept 12 clean sheets in 38 league games (5th best), but his big stat is he had the best Save percentage in the league this season (77%). Raya also ranked 8th in GCPG (1.2) and 5th in Goals prevented (+2.8). No wonder some of the “big boys” want him.

Bernd Leno

Bernd Leno was always a pretty decent Goalkeeper at Arsenal and he continued to show that in his first season at Fulham. Bend Leno may only have kept 8 clean sheets in 36 league games (11th best), but he topped the Goals prevented chart with a massive +9.5 which is absolutely extraordinary. Leno also ranked 2nd in Save percentage (73.8%), but he was only 12th in GCPG (1.4). Still, a good season for the German keeper.

Defender of the Season Nominees:

Nathan Ake

Whilst Nathan Ake had a couple of decent seasons at Manchester City, his third year in light blue was by far the best. Nathan Ake actually only featured in 26 Premier League games this season (started 22) and trust me when I say he was crucial to Manchester City’s success this season. With Defenders, it’s quite hard to talk about stats in the same way as other positions, but Ake was a part of the joint-best defense in the league so that counts for quite a lot.

William Saliba

William Saliba finally got his opportunity at Arsenal and he proved why he probably should’ve been playing for the first team sooner. William Saliba also struggled with injuries this season which meant he only played 27 league games over the course of the season (he started in all of them) and those injuries potentially/probably cost Arsenal the title. In the 11 games Saliba didn’t feature in, Arsenal dropped 15 points which showed just how great and crucial he truly is/was.

Kieran Trippier

Kieran Trippier proved his ability in so many different ways this season. Kieran Trippier played and started every Premier League game this season and from an attacking point of view, Trippier got 1 goal and 7 assists. From a defensive point of view, Trippier was a part of the joint-best defense in the league which shows he can kind of do it all. Finally, he’s Captained Newcastle United to great heights not just because of his footballing ability, but also his excellent leadership skills.

Sven Botman

Kieran Trippier isn’t the only Newcastle Defender that deserves praise as 23-year-old Sven Botman had a really good first year with the club. Sven Botman featured in 36 league games over the course of the season (started 35) and he managed to guide Newcastle United to the joint-best defensive record in the league. I always rated Botman when he was at Lille, but he’s proven himself this year to be one of the best centre-backs in the whole of the Premier League.

Fabian Schar

Why mention two Newcastle Defenders when you can mention three? Fabian Schar played and started 36 games in Premier League this season and he was a big reason why Newcastle United were so good at the back (joint-best defensive record). Schar also managed to get 3 assists to his name which is quite impressive for a centre-back (he also got 1 goal) and whilst he’d had previous seasons where he’d played quite well, this year he really proves his worth and ability to a growing Newcastle side.

Thiago Silva

Whilst Chelsea had a pretty terrible season, Thiago Silva continues to prove why he’s still an incredibly good central Defender, even at 38 years of age. Thiago Silva only featured in 27 league games over the course of the season (started 26) and that probably didn’t help Chelsea. I think the biggest positive I can say about Thiago Silva is that Chelsea should completely rebuild their side around the Brazilian star.

Midfielder of the Season Nominees:

Kevin De Bruyne

Even when he’s not always at his best, Kevin De Bruyne always produces incredible numbers. Kevin De Bruyne featured in 32 league games this season (started 28) and in that time, De Bruyne scored 7 goals and picked up 16 assists. De Bruyne was top of the Assists chart for this season and he was 6th for Goals and Assists combined. Not bad at all from KDB!

Rodri

Whilst most Midfielders are rated on their Assists and sometimes Goals, no one can deny just how good Rodri has been for Manchester City this season. Rodri featured in 36 league games this season (started 34) and during that time, Rodri scored 2 goals and picked up 6 assists. However, the role that Rodri plays means goals and assists don’t matter too much (unless it’s in the Champions League Final) and you have to focus more on his defensive and passing abilities which he is superb in both.

Martin Odegaard

Martin Odegaard really proved his talent this season (if he hadn’t already in the past). Martin Odegaard featured in 37 league games over the course of the season (started all of them) and in that time, Odegaard scored 15 goals and picked up 7 assists. Odegaard ranked 9th in Goals and Assists combined in the league and he was also Arsenal’s joint-top scorer in the Prem this season. Finally, it’s worth mentioning that Odegaard is a terrific Captain.

Bruno Guimaraes

I’m really quite surprised that people haven’t raved about Bruno Guimaraes more this season. Bruno Guimaraes featured in 32 league games over the course of the season (started all of them) and in that time, Bruno scored 4 goals and picked up 5 assists. Again, for the position that Bruno plays, goals and assists don’t matter too much and the biggest positive that I can say about Guimaraes is that he is critical to Newcastle United’s success.

Alexis Mac Allister

2022/23 will always be the season that Alexis Mac Allister truly broke out as one of the best Midfielders in the Premier League. Alexis Mac Allister featured in 35 league games this season (started 31) and in that period, Mac Allister scored 10 goals and picked up 2 assists. Whilst stats are always important, it’s also worth mentioning just how critical Mac Allister has been to the rise of Brighton and Hove Albion this year and he will be greatly missed by the club (he’s going to Liverpool).

James Maddison

Even though Leicester City had a terrible season, that doesn’t mean that star man James Maddison wasn’t doing everything he could. James Maddison only featured in 30 league games over the course of the season (started 28), but in that time, Maddison scored 10 goals and picked up 9 assists which is pretty good. Maddison was comfortably Leicester’s best player this season and he also ranked 13th overall in Goals and Assists combined (3rd best midfielder). I definitely think Maddison should be playing for a good Premier League club next season.

Attacker of the Season Nominees:

Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland arrived in England and took the Premier League by storm in just his first season. Erling Haaland featured in 35 league games over the course of the season (started 33) and during that time, Haaland scored 36 goals and got 8 assists. Erling also won the Premier League Golden Boot and he comfortably topped the Goals and Assists combined list (by 11). Haaland also had the best “Goals per 90” average at 1.17, but the only negative you could say about the Norwegian is he missed the most “Big Chances” this season (28). I think it’s pretty fair to say that Erling Haaland is only getting started in the Premier League.

Bukayo Saka

Bukayo Saka proved this season why he’s one of the best players in the entire league. Bukayo Saka featured in every Premier League game this season (started 37) and during that time, Saka scored 14 goals and got 11 assists. Saka was ranked 5th in Assists this season and 4th in Goals and Assists combined which is pretty good. However, the most impressive part of that stat is the fact that he was ahead of all of his Arsenal teammates. A great season for the 21-year-old and he’s only getting started.

Callum Wilson

It’s fair to say that Callum Wilson had a very good 2022/23 season. Callum Wilson featured in 31 league games over the course of the season (only started 21) and during that time, Wilson scored 18 goals and got 5 assists. Wilson also finished 5th in the Top scorer charts, 7th in Goals and Assists combined and he ranked 2nd in “Goals per 90” (0.86). Had Wilson featured more often, Newcastle probably would’ve finished 3rd which is a credit to him.

Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah continues to have really strong seasons even when it feels like he’s not playing at his best. Mohamed Salah featured in all 38 league games over the course of the season (started 37) and during that time, Salah scored 19 goals and got 12 assists. Salah finished 4th in the Top scorer charts, 2nd in the Assists chart and 3rd in Goals and Assists combined which is pretty great. However, Mo Salah was only ranked 18th in “Goals per 90” (0.52). However, that shouldn’t take away from what has been another really good season for the Egyptian King.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane has had a pretty crazy season when you think about it. Harry Kane played and started in all 38 Premier League games this season and during that time, Kane scored 30 goals and got 3 assists. Kane finished second in both the Premier League Top Goalscorer and Goals and Assists combined charts whilst he ranked 4th in “Goals per 90” with an average of 0.79. Another great season for Tottenham’s main man.

Ivan Toney

Brentford’s Ivan Toney continued to show why he’s one of the best goal-scorers in the whole of the Premier League. Ivan Toney featured in 33 league games over the course of the season (started all of them) and during that time, Toney scored 20 goals and got 4 assists. Toney ended up finishing as the third-highest scorer in the Prem this season and he was ranked 5th in Goals and Assists combined. Ivan Toney will definitely be a big miss for Brentford for the first half of next season.

Biggest Overachiever Nominees:

Arsenal: 2nd, 84pts

Despite Arsenal falling short of their first Premier League title in 20 years, just them being there shows how well they truly did. The Gunners were expected to be in a fight for a Champions League place and quite a few people expected them to miss out. However, that didn’t happen as they finished 2nd and they were just 5 points off top spot come the end of the Season. There’s no way that people can say Arsenal didn’t both overperform and have a really good season.

Newcastle: 4th, 71pts

Who thought that Newcastle would finish in the top 4 this season because I don’t know anyone that did. The Magpies would’ve hoped that they could challenge for a spot in Europe, but for them to secure themselves a place in next season’s Champions League was something only Newcastle fans could dream about. However, it happened and they fully merited it.

Brighton: 6th, 62pts

Brighton came into this season after the best season in their history and I don’t think many people thought they’d do even better the following season. The Seagulls were probably expected to finish around midtable and at best, they would’ve hoped that they could challenge for a place in the Europa Conference League. However, for Brighton to secure Europa League football and have two different managers during the season is a credit to the football club.

Aston Villa: 7th, 61pts

Aston Villa were probably expected to finish in the lower half of the table under manager Steven Gerrard, but Unai Emery came in and turned the ship around completely. Aston Villa completely played above expectations and after a really positive run of form, Villa were able to book their place in next season's UEFA Europa Conference League.

Fulham: 10th, 52pts

Fulham had become a bit of a “Yo-yo” club in recent seasons as they were too good for the Championship but not good enough for the Premier League. Many people expected this to continue this season, but the opposite happened as Marco Silva brilliantly guided Fulham to a top-half finish with over 50 points. Very well done to them.

Bournemouth: 15th, 39pts

I think it’s time everyone praises Bournemouth for just how well they’ve done this season. Bournemouth were probably the favourites to get relegated at the start of the season, but they pulled through superbly to end up 15th and 5 points clear of the relegation zone. The question now is can the Cherries build from this next season?

My 2022/23 Biggest Overachiever: Fulham

  • 0%Newcastle (4th, 71pts

  • 0%Brighton (6th, 62pts)

  • 0%Aston Villa (7th, 61pts)

Biggest Underachiever Nominees:

Liverpool: 5th, 67pts

What happened to Liverpool this season is a mystery not too many people have been/will be able to solve. Liverpool were expected to once again challenge Manchester City for the Premier League trophy, but they ended up finishing 22 points away from the Champions and worst of all, outside the Champions League places. I think Liverpool are going to need to make a few changes to their team for next season.

Tottenham: 8th, 60pts

Tottenham Hotspur had a genuine outsiders chance at winning the Premier League this season due to having Antonio Conte as manager. However, even one of the best managers in the world couldn’t save Spurs and they ended up sacking him after he said some harsh but true comments about them after a 3-all draw away to Southampton. Spurs’ season then continued to get worse as they then sacked Christian Stellini and they ended up finishing outside the European places entirely. A dismal season for Tottenham.

Chelsea: 12th, 44pts

Are there any positives that can be said about Chelsea’s 2022/23 campaign because I can’t find any. Chelsea entered the season with a shot at winning the Premier League, but they quickly sacked Thomas Tuchel and they eventually sacked replacement Graham Potter whilst they were still in the Champions League! Chelsea then brought in Frank Lampard (who’d already been sacked by Everton earlier in the season) and they just continued to get worse as they finished 12th. To sum up how bad Chelsea’s season truly was, they were 5 points closer to the relegation zone than Brentford in 9th!

West Ham: 14th, 40pts

West Ham United have had a pretty weird season when you think about it. West Ham had finished inside the top 7 in the previous two league campaigns and they were certainly expected to at least challenge again this season. However, that didn’t happen as they spent most of the season in a relegation fight which they ended up getting clear of due to a decent run at the end of the campaign. However, Hammers fans probably won’t care because they won the Europa Conference League which has earnt them a spot in Europe anyway.

Everton: 17th, 36pts

Everton had a pretty terrible 2021/22 season and it was expected that they would at least improve the following season. However, they arguably got worse and it was only because of the appointment of Sean Dyche (who replaced Frank Lampard in early February) that they were able to stay in the league. I have no idea what Everton are playing at, but one more season like this and their luck’s going to run out and so is their stint in the top flight of English football.

Leicester: 18th, 34pts

Just what went wrong for Leicester City this season? After Leicester City incredibly won the Premier League in 2016, they’d only finished outside the top 10 once (12th the following season) and they made themselves a mainstay in the fight for Champions League football. The Foxes were certainly expected to fight for a spot in Europe again, but instead, they had one of their worst seasons in a very long time and it ended up with relegation. Unfortunately, that’s what happens when you bring in Dean Smith at the end of the season.

Biggest Breakout Player Nominees:

Kaoru Mitoma

Unless you’re an avid fan of the Belgium Pro League, I don’t think many people knew who Kaoru Mitoma was at the start of the season. However, it’s fair to say that most Premier League fans are happy when he’s not playing against their team due to his incredible speed and agility. Mitoma featured in 33 league games this season (started 24) and during that time, Mitoma scored 7 goals and got 5 assists (3rd in both categories for Brighton). I particularly remember the Wolves-Brighton game at the Molineux back in November as Mitoma went on to give the Wolves defenders nightmares for quite some time! A really good footballer.

Moises Caicedo

Whilst Moises Caicedo did a decent job when he returned to Brighton in January 2022, he really showcased his quality in his first full season in the Premier League. Moises Caicedo featured in 37 league games (started 34 of them) and whilst he only got 1 goal and 1 assist, that doesn’t really showcase anything because Caicedo was so influential for the Seagulls this year. The biggest positive I can say about Moises Caicedo is back in January, league leaders (at the time) Arsenal tried to buy the Ecuador international, but Brighton rejected offers that went up to £70 million because they rate him so highly. Expect Caicedo to only get better as he’s only 21!

Julio Enciso

I might have to rename the “Biggest Breakout Player” to the “Brighton and Hove Albion Award” at this rate! Julio Enciso moved from Paraguay at the start of the season and went on to feature in 20 Premier League games over the course of his first season (only started 7 of them). Enciso may only have managed 4 goals and 2 assists, but he always contributed to the team well when he was given the opportunity. Given the fact that Enciso’s only 19 and Brighton are expected to lose a few players in the summer, expect the Paraguayan international to become a crucial part of this team going forward.

Evan Ferguson

It’ll now be impressive if a Brighton player doesn’t win this award as Evan Ferguson enters the conversation. Evan Ferguson got his first real chance for Brighton and Hove Albion this season as he featured in half of Brighton’s Premier League fixtures (started 10) and during that time, Ferguson scored 6 goals and got 2 assists. The most impressive stat for Ferguson this season is he averaged 0.57 in the “Goals per 90” category which was the 12th best in the league and better than the likes of Julian Alvarez, Marcus Rashford and Mohamed Salah. I definitely think it’s fair to say that Evan Ferguson’s career is just getting started.

Joao Palhinha

Finally, we have a different player from a different club and Fulham’s Joao Palhinha definitely deserves a lot of praise. Joao Palhinha moved from Sporting CP in the summer and featured in 35 league games for Fulham over the course of the season (started all of them). Palhinha managed to get 3 goals to his name, but Palhinha’s influence came on the defensive side of things as he proved to be a bit of rock that opposition sides struggled to break through. Expect Palhinha to be on the radar of the “big boys” sooner rather than later.

Lewis Hall

Whilst nearly everything has been bad regarding Chelsea this season, Lewis Hall showcased why he could be a key player for the Blues in the future. Lewis Hall featured in 9 league games for Chelsea over the course of the season (started 8 of them) and he looked pretty good when it came to both areas of the pitch. Hall also started and played nearly every minute of the last 4 games of the season and whilst it might be difficult for him to start for Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino right away, the 18-year-old certainly deserves a place in the matchday squad.

Most Underappreciated Player Nominees:

Pascal Gross

Whilst plenty of Brighton players have rightly gotten praise for their performances over the course of the season, Pascal Gross is a player that deserves just as much praise as the rest (but isn’t getting it). Pascal Gross featured in 37 league games over the course of the season (started all of them) and during that time, Gross netted 9 times and also got 8 assists (a total of 17 was higher than any other Brighton player). When it comes to the rest of the Premier League, Gross was ranked 10th in Assists and he got more Goals and Assists combined than the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Heung-Min Son and Phil Foden which is pretty impressive.

Solly March

Solly March is another Brighton and Hove Albion player that deserves more praise than what he is receiving. Solly March featured in 33 league games over the course of the season (started 31) and during that time, March netted 7 times and he also got 7 assists. The reason this is so impressive is March is a versatile footballer who can play either on the wing or in a full-back/wing-back role. I definitely think this season was by far March’s best one.

Bryan Mbeumo

Whilst Ivan Toney rightly gets a lot of praise for his performances at Brentford, it would be unfair if people continue to overlook Bryan Mbeumo. Bryan Mbeumo featured in every Premier League game this season (started 36) and during that time, Mbeumo netted 9 times and got 8 assists. He was Brighton’s second top scorer and highest assister and he was also the 15th best player in the league when it came to Goals and Assists combined. I genuinely believe that whilst Brentford will miss Ivan Toney for the first half of the season, the Bees will be alright because Mbeumo is a talented footballer.

Willian

Willian made his return to the Premier League after a year in Brazil and he made the decision to stay in London as he signed for Fulham. Willian may have only featured in 27 league games over the course of the season (started 25), but the Brazilian managed 5 goals and 5 assists during that time and he really proved why he’s still such a good footballer. Willian was also arguably Fulham’s best player over the course of the season and he will continue to be that if he stays with Fulham in the future.

Eberechi Eze

If you’ve read any of my Premier League Roundups when Crystal Palace have (mostly) won, you know just how much of a fan I am of Eberechi Eze. Eberechi Eze featured in every Premier League this season (started 30) and during that time, Eze netted 10 times and got 4 assists. Eze was the only Crystal Palace player to reach double figures when it comes to goals in the Premier League this season and his influence when he plays is clear for everyone to see. Eberechi Eze definitely deserves to be playing for a top 6 club soon (he probably does now).

Marcus Tavernier

Whilst Philip Billing, Jefferson Lerma and even Dominic Solanke deserve praise for helping keep Bournemouth in the Premier League this season, I definitely think Marcus Tavernier has been the biggest driving force for the Cherries over the campaign. Marcus Tavernier only featured in 23 league games over the course of the season (started 19), but he managed to net 5 goals and also get 4 assists. I’ve always been impressed by Tavernier’s pace and skills when I watch the highlights of Bournemouth matches for my Roundup and I definitely think the 24-year-old could move up the table in the next couple of seasons (whether that’s with Bournemouth or another team).

Young Player of the Season Nominees:

Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland arrived in England and took the Premier League by storm in just his first season. Erling Haaland featured in 35 league games over the course of the season (started 33) and during that time, Haaland scored 36 goals and got 8 assists. Erling also won the Premier League Golden Boot and he comfortably topped the Goals and Assists combined list (by 11). Haaland also had the best “Goals per 90” average at 1.17, but the only negative you could say about the Norwegian is he missed the most “Big Chances” this season (28). It feels ridiculous that Haaland’s on the Young Player of the Season Nominees list!

Gabriel Martinelli

Someone that hasn’t yet been mentioned but deserves to be is Gabriel Martinelli. Gabriel Martinelli featured in 36 league games over the course of the season (started 34) and during that time, Martinelli scored 15 goals and got 5 assists. Martinelli was ranked joint-7th in Goals this season and 11th in Goals and Assists combined. Another great season for the 21-year-old Brazilian.

William Saliba

Another Arsenal player! William Saliba finally got his opportunity at Arsenal this season and he proved why he probably should’ve been playing for the first team sooner.

Sven Botman

23-year-old Sven Botman has had a really good first year at Newcastle United. Sven Botman featured in 36 league games over the course of the season (started 35) and he managed to guide Newcastle United to the joint-best defensive record in the league. I always rated Botman when he was at Lille, but he’s proven himself this year to be one of the best centre-backs in the whole of the Premier League.

Bryan Mbeumo

I fully believe that Bryan Mbeumo deserves to be recognised as one of the best young players in the whole of the Premier League. Bryan Mbeumo featured in every Premier League game this season (started 36) and during that time, Mbeumo netted 9 times and got 8 assists. He was Brighton’s second top scorer and highest assister and he was also the 15th best player in the league when it came to Goals and Assists combined. A really good season for the 23-year-old.

Manager of the Season Nominees:

Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola once again proved why he is probably the greatest manager of all time as he guided Manchester City to a third consecutive Premier League title (the 3rd time Pep’s done that in his career). The biggest praise you can have for Guardiola is he creates new and unique ways to play football and that was particularly on show this season as he started playing without any full-backs. Pep Guardiola also guided City to 12 consecutive league wins when they really needed them the most.

Mikel Arteta

Whilst Arsenal may have lost out on the title at the end, you can’t deny that Mikel Arteta showcased how good of a manager he is this season. Arteta managed to take a team that was 24 points behind in the 21/22 season to just 5 points this season as he used the young players he had as well as bringing in some really talented players (Jorginho, Trossard, Jesus). He probably would’ve/should’ve won this award had Arsenal held on to their lead.

Eddie Howe

Eddie Howe was widely regarded as a talented manager after his time at Bournemouth, but he’s only gone on to grow his reputation at Newcastle United. After guiding Newcastle from a relegation fight to 11th the season prior, Eddie Howe took Newcastle beyond the Europa Conference League and the Europa League as he managed to guide them to a 4th-place finish and a spot in the Champions League for next season. Well done Sir!

Roberto De Zerbi

Roberto De Zerbi had only won two (minor) trophies as a manager in the past, but he arrived at Brighton in September and went on to be one of the managers of the season. De Zerbi was able to guide Brighton and Hove Albion to a record-breaking 6th place finish and the Seagulls will now play Europa League football as a result. Talk about a breakout season!

Unai Emery

Unai Emery started the season managing Villarreal in Spain, but he signed for Aston Villa in November and you already knew he was going to do well there after a 3-1 win at home to Manchester United in his first game in charge. Villa then went on to massively climb up the table in the second half of the season and it resulted in them finishing 7th on 61 points which earnt them a place in the Europa Conference League for next season. They’re probably going to do even better next year which feels crazy to write!

Marco Silva

Marco Silva was probably expected to be sacked by Fulham at some point this season before the club went on to once again get relegated back down to the Championship. However, none of that happened as Marco Silva showed why he’s a really good manager by not only keeping Fulham up but by guiding them to a top-half finish! Nobody expected that and you have to praise Marco Silva immensely for that!

Player of the Season Nominees:

Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland arrived in England and took the Premier League by storm in just his first season. Erling Haaland featured in 35 league games over the course of the season (started 33) and during that time, Haaland scored 36 goals and got 8 assists. Erling also won the Premier League Golden Boot and he comfortably topped the Goals and Assists combined list (by 11). Haaland also had the best “Goals per 90” average at 1.17, but the only negative you could say about the Norwegian is he missed the most “Big Chances” this season (28). Simply amazing!

The best thing I can say about Nathan Ake is I’m not sure Manchester City would’ve won the Premier League/treble without him.

Finally, Odegaard is a terrific Captain and an even better footballer.

Kieran Trippier

Kieran Trippier proved his ability in so many different ways this season and he fully merits his place as a contender for Premier League Player of the Season.

Even though Tottenham weren’t very good at all this season, Kane was good enough to get himself on this list.
