Premier League Preview: Gameweek 34

Crystal Palace VS West Ham

Crystal Palace suffered a 2-0 loss away to Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out and they currently sit 12th in the table. West Ham lost 2-1 at home to Liverpool and they currently find themselves in 15th place. In their previous 21 meetings, Palace have won 6 times whilst West Ham have won 7 times. For Crystal Palace, one more win and you’d have to say that they’ll definitely be playing Premier League football next season. The Eagles are ranked 15th in GPG (0.9) and they also have the 15th-best home record in the league. As for West Ham United, two more wins from their remaining 6 league games should be enough to see West Ham stay in the Premier League. The Hammers are ranked 13th in GPG (1.1) and they’re unbeaten in their last 4 away games (in all competitions).

My Prediction: 1-1

Brentford VS Nottingham Forest

Brentford picked up a good 2-0 win away to Chelsea midweek and they currently sit 9th in the table. Nottingham Forest picked up a brilliant 3-1 win at home to Brighton last time out and they currently sit 17th, just a point above the relegation zone. In their previous 15 meetings, Brentford have won 8 times whilst Notts Forest have won 4 times. Their only ever Premier League meeting finished 2-2 earlier in the season. For Brentford, they’ll be looking to see out the rest of the season in a strong manner. The Bees are ranked 7th in GPG (1.5) and they have the 8th-best home record in the league. As for Nottingham Forest, they’re going to have to play really well in their remaining 5 games if they are going to remain a Premier League side. Forest are ranked 17th in GPG (0.9) and they have the worst away record in the league.

My Prediction: 3-1

Brighton VS Wolves

Brighton suffered a really disappointing 3-1 loss away to Nottingham Forest in their last match and they currently find themselves in 8th. Wolverhampton Wanderers picked up a good 2-0 victory at home to Crystal Palace last time out and they currently sit 13th. In their previous 17 meetings, Brighton have won 6 times, Wolves have won 3 times and there have been 8 draws. For Brighton and Hove Albion, they need to get back to their best if they want to end the season in the European places. The Seagulls are ranked 6th in GPG (1.8) and they’ve also conceded more penalties than any other team in the league this season (8). As for Wolverhampton Wanderers, they’ll want to make sure that they finish as high up in the table as possible. Wolves are ranked 17th in GPG (0.9), but they haven’t won any of their last 5 away games (2D,3L).

My Prediction: 3-2

Bournemouth VS Leeds

Bournemouth host Leeds in an important game for both clubs. Bournemouth picked up a good 1-0 win away to Southampton last night and they currently sit 14th in the table. Leeds United drew 1-1 at home to Leicester and they currently find themselves in 16th place. In their previous 5 meetings, Bournemouth have won just once whilst Leeds have won 4 times. That win for Bournemouth came all the way back in 2014. For AFC Bournemouth, they are close to ensuring their stay in the Premier League for another season. The Cherries are ranked 14th in GPG (1.0), but they have the 4th worst home record in the league. As for Leeds United, they need to turn their poor run of form around quickly. Leeds are ranked 12th in GPG (1.3) and they have the second-worst away record in the league.

My Prediction: 2-0

Fulham VS Manchester City

Fulham lost 1-0 away to Aston Villa during the week and they currently sit 10th in the table. Manchester City thrashed Arsenal by four goals to one in their last match and they currently sit 2 points behind the league leaders with two games in hand. In their previous 16 meetings, Fulham haven’t won once whilst City have won 14 times. Fulham’s last win against Man City actually came back in 2009 (they won 3-1 away). For Fulham, it’s all about ending the season positively now. The Cottagers are ranked 10th in GPG (1.4) and they also have the 10th-best home record in the league. As for Manchester City, they’ll be aiming to keep their amazing run of form going. City are ranked 1st in GPG (2.6) and their unbeaten run is now up to 17 games (14W,3D).

My Prediction: 1-3

Manchester United VS Aston Villa

Manchester United host Aston Villa in a game that could have huge implications on who qualifies for Europe at the end of the season. Manchester United drew two each with Tottenham last night and they currently find themselves in 4th. Aston Villa picked up a decent home victory against Fulham last time out (1-0) and they currently sit 6th in the table. In their previous 22 meetings, Man United have won 15 times whilst Villa have won just twice. Interestingly, those two wins for Villa have come in 2 of the last 3 league meetings between the two sides. For Manchester United, they need to start playing better football because they’ve been struggling a little bit recently. United are ranked 8th in GPG (1.5) and they have the third-best home record in the league. As for Aston Villa, they’ll definitely fancy their chances in this one. Villa are ranked 9th in GPG (1.4) and they’re currently on a 10-game unbeaten run (8W,2D).

My Prediction: 1-2

Newcastle VS Southampton

Newcastle United put 4 past Everton in a brilliant performance last night and they are currently third in the league. Southampton lost 1-0 at home to Bournemouth and they remain bottom of the table, now six points off safety. In their previous 21 meetings, Newcastle have won 10 times whilst Southampton have won 6 times. For Newcastle, they’re getting closer to finding themselves back in the Champions League! The Magpies are ranked 5th in GPG (1.8) and they have the 6th best home record in the league. As for Southampton, they really need to make this match worthwhile for their fans that are attending this game. The Saints are ranked 19th in GPG (0.8) and they haven’t won any of their last 8 matches (3D,5L).

My Prediction: 5-1

Liverpool VS Tottenham

Liverpool host Tottenham in a match that could have big European implications. Liverpool won 2-1 at West Ham midweek and they currently sit 7th in the table. Tottenham drew two each with Manchester United yesterday and they currently sit 5th. In their previous 28 meetings, Liverpool have won 15 times compared to Tottenham’s 5. Spurs actually haven’t beaten Liverpool since 2017 (they won 4-1 at home). For Liverpool, they’ll be hoping to keep this good run of form up for the rest of the season. The Reds are ranked third in GPG (1.9) and they have the 4th best home record in the league. As for Tottenham, they need to start winning again if they’re going to qualify for Europe come the end of the season. Spurs are ranked 4th in GPG (1.8) and they haven’t won any of their last 7 away games (in all competitions).

My Prediction: 4-1

Leicester VS Everton

Leicester welcome Everton to the King Power Stadium for a huge relegation six-pointer. Leicester drew 1-1 away to Leeds last time out and they currently find themselves inside the relegation zone (18th). Everton were thrashed 4-1 by Newcastle last night and they also find themselves in the relegation zone (19th). In their previous 20 meetings, Leicester have won 8 times whilst Everton have won 7 times. For Leicester City, they have to win this game. The Foxes are ranked 11th in GPG (1.3) and they have the second-worst home record in the league. As for Everton, they’ll be in deep trouble if they lose this game. The Toffees are ranked 20th in GPG (0.8) and they have the third-worst away record in the league.

My Prediction: 2-0

Arsenal VS Chelsea

Arsenal host Chelsea as both teams look to get back to winning ways. Arsenal were thrashed 4-1 by Manchester City the other day and their lead at the top of the Premier League is now only 2 points (and they’ve played two games more). Chelsea lost yet again last time out (2-0 at home to Brentford) and they currently find themselves in 11th place. In their previous 37 meetings, Arsenal have won 13 times whilst Chelsea have won 15 times. For Arsenal, they pretty much need to win every game for the rest of the season if they are going to have a chance at winning the Premier League title. The Gunners are ranked 2nd in GPG (2.4), but they haven’t won any of their last 4 games (3D,1L). As for Chelsea, they cannot wait for the season to end! The Blues are ranked 16th in GPG (0.9) and they’ve lost all 5 games since Frank Lampard returned as Chelsea manager.

My Prediction: 3-0
