Premier League Preview: Gameweek 33

Wolves VS Crystal Palace

Wolves suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss away to Leicester City on the weekend and they currently sit 14th in the table. Crystal Palace drew 0-0 with Everton last time out and they currently sit 12th. In their previous 12 meetings, Wolves have won 4 times whilst Palace have won 7 times. Palace have won each of the last 4 games between the two sides. For Wolverhampton Wanderers, they need to make sure that they don’t drop back into the relegation scrap. Wolves are ranked 17th in GPG (0.8) and they have the 12th-best home record in the league. As for Crystal Palace, a win here would pretty much secure them a spot in the Premier League for next season. The Eagles are ranked 14th in GPG (1.0) and they have the 9th-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 1-2

Aston Villa VS Fulham

Aston Villa host Fulham in what is a big game for both teams’ European dream. Aston Villa drew 1-1 with Brentford in their last game and they currently sit 6th in the table. Fulham picked up a positive 2-1 win against Leeds last time out and they currently sit 9th. In their previous 18 meetings, Villa have won 5 times whilst Fulham have won 9 times. For Aston Villa, they’ll expect to win this game. Villa are ranked 9th in GPG (1.4) and they’re unbeaten in 9 games (7W,2D). As for Fulham, they need to win this game if they want to end the season in the European places. The Cottagers are ranked 10th in GPG (1.4) and they have the 7th-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 3-2

Leeds VS Leicester

Leeds host Leicester in a massive relegation six-pointer. Leeds United lost 2-1 away to Fulham in their last game and they currently sit 16th in the table, just a point above the relegation zone. Leicester picked up a really good 2-1 win at home to Wolves last time out and they currently sit 17th, outside of the relegation zone on goal difference. In their previous 15 meetings, Leeds have won 3 times whilst Leicester have won 8 times. For Leeds United, they need to win this game. Leeds are ranked 12th in GPG (1.3) and they’ve lost their last 3 games by an aggregate score of 13-3. As for Leicester City, they’ll be disappointed with anything other than the win tomorrow night. The Foxes are ranked 11th in GPG (1.3) and they have the 15th-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 1-4

Nottingham Forest VS Brighton

Nottingham Forest suffered a 3-2 loss away to Liverpool last time out and they currently sit 19th in the table. Brighton beat Chelsea 2-1 in their last league game before they lost in the FA Cup Semi-Final to Manchester United on penalties. Brighton currently sit 8th in the table. In their previous 13 meetings, Notts Forest have won 3 times whilst Brighton have won 5 times. For Nottingham Forest, they can’t afford to become desperate because they’re still just a point away from safety. Forest are ranked 19th in GPG (0.8) and they haven’t won any of their last 11 matches (3D,8L). As for Brighton and Hove Albion, they really should be winning this game. The Seagulls are ranked 4th in GPG (1.9) and they also have the 4th best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 0-3

Chelsea VS Brentford

Chelsea lost against Brighton in their last league game (1-2) before they suffered a 2-0 loss against Real Madrid in the Champions League. Chelsea currently sit 11th in the Premier League. Brentford drew one each with Aston Villa last time out and they currently sit 10th in the table. In their previous 7 meetings, Chelsea have won 4 times whilst Brentford have won just once. That win came here in the league last season when Brentford thrashed Chelsea 4-1. For Chelsea, a loss here and they probably aren’t finishing in the top half of the table this season. The Blues are ranked 16th in GPG (1.0) and they’ve lost all four games under Frank Lampard so far (1-7 on aggregate). As for Brentford, a win here would be exactly what they need right now. The Bees are ranked 7th in GPG (1.5), but they haven’t won any of their last 6 games (3D,3L).

My Prediction: 1-1

West Ham VS Liverpool

West Ham picked up a brilliant 4-0 win away to Bournemouth in their last game and they currently sit 13th in the table. Liverpool beat Nottingham Forest 3-2 at Anfield to move up into 7th place. In their previous 25 meetings, West Ham have won 24% of the time whilst Liverpool have won 60% of the time. For West Ham United, they’re playing their best football of the season right now so they’ll fancy their chances in this one. The Reds are ranked 3rd in GPG (1.9) and they have the 10th-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 2-1

Manchester City VS Arsenal

Manchester City welcome Arsenal to the Etihad Stadium for the biggest game of the 2022/23 Premier League season. Manchester City beat Leicester 3-1 in their last league game, drew 1-1 away to Bayern Munich in the Champions League before they won their FA Cup Semi-Final match against Sheffield United 3-0. City currently sit second in the table with two games in hand over their opponents. Arsenal drew three each with Southampton in their last game and they currently sit top of the Premier League by 5 points. In their previous 35 meetings, Man City have won 20 times whilst Arsenal have won 9 times. City have won each of the last 7 matches between the two sides. For Manchester City, a win here and they’ll definitely be favourites for the title. City are ranked 1st in GPG (2.6) and they’re unbeaten in their last 16 games (13W,3D). As for Arsenal, they cannot afford to lose this game. The Gunners are ranked 2nd in GPG (2.4) and they have the best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 4-2

Everton VS Newcastle

Everton host Newcastle in a big game for both clubs. Everton drew 0-0 away to Crystal Palace in their last game and they currently sit inside the relegation zone (18th). Newcastle decimated Tottenham 6-1 yesterday and they are currently third in the league. In their previous 23 meetings, Everton have won 12 times whilst Newcastle have won 8 times. For Everton, they really need to start picking up some victories. The Toffees are ranked 20th in GPG (0.8) and they haven’t won any of their last 5 games (3D,2L). As for Newcastle United, they really should be winning this game. The Magpies are ranked 6th in GPG (1.7) and they have the third-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 2-1

Southampton VS Bournemouth

Southampton host Bournemouth in a big game for both clubs in their fight for survival. Southampton drew 3 each away to Arsenal last time out, but they still sit bottom of the Premier League and 4 points from safety. Bournemouth were shockingly thrashed 4-0 at home by West Ham yesterday and they currently sit 15th in the table. In their previous 16 meetings, Southampton have won 10 times whilst Bournemouth have only won twice. For Southampton, they have to win this game. The Saints are ranked 17th in GPG (0.8) and they have the worst home record in the league. As for Bournemouth, they need to try and bounce back after a terrible result against West Ham. The Cherries are ranked 14th in GPG (1.0) and they also have the 14th-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 1-1

Tottenham VS Manchester United

Tottenham host Manchester United in a big game for both teams’ UEFA Champions League aspirations. Spurs were humiliated in a 6-1 defeat away to Newcastle last time out and they currently sit 5th in the table. Manchester United beat Notts Forest 2-0 in their last game, were knocked out of the Europa League at the hands of Sevilla (3-0) before they beat Brighton in the FA Cup Semi-Final on penalties. Man United currently sit fourth in the league. In their previous 27 meetings, Tottenham have won 7 times whilst Man U have won 15 times. United have won each of the last 4 games between the two sides. For Tottenham Hotspur, a loss here and they’re definitely not playing in the Champions League next season. Spurs are ranked 5th in GPG (1.8) and they also have the 5th best home record in the league. As for Manchester United, this is a great opportunity to start playing at their best again. United are ranked 8th in GPG (1.5) and they have the 5th-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 0-0
