Premier League Preview: Gameweek 27

Nottingham Forest VS Newcastle

Nottingham Forest host Newcastle in a big match for both sides. Nottingham Forest lost 3-1 away to Tottenham Hotspur in their last game and they currently find themselves 14th in the table. Newcastle were able to win 2-1 at home to Wolves last Sunday and they currently sit in 5th place. In their previous 6 meetings, both sides have won 3 times. For Nottingham Forest, they need to win to try and move further away from the relegation zone. Forest are ranked 16th in GPG (0.8) and they haven’t won any of their last 5 games. As for Newcastle, they need to be winning these types of games if they want to finish inside the top 4 come the end of the season. The Magpies are ranked 8th in GPG (1.5), but they haven’t scored in any of their last two away games.

My Prediction: 1-3

Aston Villa VS Bournemouth

Aston Villa picked up a point away to West Ham United in their last game and they currently sit 11th in the Premier League. Bournemouth picked up a brilliant 1-0 victory over Liverpool last time out and they currently sit 18th in the table. In their previous 6 meetings, Villa have won twice whilst Bournemouth have won 4 times (in a row). For Aston Villa, they need to win this game if they are going to keep up their outside shot at finishing in the European places. Villa are ranked 11th in GPG (1.2) and they have the 12th-best home record in the league. As for Bournemouth, can they move themselves out of the relegation zone with a result in this game? The Cherries are ranked 14th in GPG (1.0) and they have the 4th worst away record in the league.

My Prediction: 2-0

Brentford VS Leicester

Brentford suffered a 2-0 loss away to Everton last weekend, but they made up for it with a 2-0 win away to Southampton on Wednesday. Brentford currently sit 8th in the table. Leicester City suffered a 3-1 loss at home to Chelsea last time out and they currently sit in 16th place. In their previous 5 meetings, Brentford haven’t won whilst Leicester have won 4 times. For Brentford, this is a great opportunity for them to move closer to a place in Europe. The Bees are ranked 6th in GPG (1.6) and they also have the 6th best home record in the league. As for Leicester, they really need to sort out their problems and fast. The Foxes are ranked 10th in GPG (1.4) and they’re currently on a 5-game losing streak.

My Prediction: 4-1

Southampton VS Tottenham

Southampton picked up a solid point last weekend at Manchester United before they lost 2-0 at home to Brentford midweek. Southampton currently sit bottom of the Premier League. Tottenham Hotspur managed to beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 at home last time out and they currently sit 4th in the table. In their previous 23 meetings, Southampton have won 4 times compared to Spurs’ 15. For Southampton, they just can’t seem to pick up any sort of momentum. The Saints are ranked 18th in GPG (0.7) and they have the worst home record in the league. As for Tottenham, they should win this game comfortably. Spurs are ranked 3rd in GPG (1.8), but they’ve lost each of their last 4 away games (in all competitions).

My Prediction: 1-3

Wolves VS Leeds

Wolves host Leeds in a match that could have huge implications in the fight for survival. Wolverhampton Wanderers lost 2-1 away to Newcastle last Sunday and they currently sit 13th in the table. Leeds United picked up a pretty decent point at home to Brighton last time out (2-2) and they currently sit 19th in the table. In their previous 17 meetings, Wolves have won 47% of the time compared to Leeds’ 41%. For Wolverhampton Wanderers, they should win this game. Wolves are ranked 18th in GPG (0.7) and they have the 5th worst home record in the league. As for Leeds United, they can’t afford to lose this one. Leeds are ranked 12th in GPG (1.2) and they haven’t won away from home in the league since October.

My Prediction: 2-0

Chelsea VS Everton

Chelsea picked up a good 3-1 win away to Leicester City last weekend and they currently sit 10th in the table. Everton picked up a really good 1-0 win at home to Brentford last time out and they currently sit in 15th place. In their previous 30 meetings, Chelsea have won 14 times compared to Everton’s 9. For Chelsea, this is a chance for them to continue their good run of form. The Blues are ranked 13th in GPG (1.0) and they are currently on a 3-game winning streak (6-1 on aggregate). As for Everton, can they pull themselves further from the relegation zone? The Toffees are ranked 18th in GPG (0.7) and they haven’t won an away game since October.

My Prediction: 3-0

Arsenal VS Crystal Palace

Arsenal thrashed Fulham 3-0 in their last Premier League game, but they were knocked out of the Europa League on penalties by Sporting last night. Arsenal are currently still 5 points clear at the top of the Premier League. Crystal Palace lost 1-0 at home to Manchester City last weekend before they lost 1-0 away to Brighton midweek resulting in Patrick Viera getting sacked (literally today). Palace currently sit 12th in the table. In their previous 19 meetings, Arsenal have won 10 times whilst Crystal Palace have won just 3 times. For Arsenal, they’ll want to extend their lead over Manchester City to 8 points going into the international break. The Gunners are ranked 2nd in GPG (2.3) and they’ve kept the most clean sheets in the league this season (12). As for Crystal Palace, let’s see how they get on without Patrick Viera in charge. The Eagles are ranked 16th in GPG (0.8) and their winless run is now up to 12 games.

My Prediction: 4-0
