West Ham VS Brentford
West Ham United suffered a defeat to Arsenal in their Premier League return and they currently sit 16th in the table. Brentford played alright against Tottenham but they let a 2-goal lead slip. The Bees currently sit in 10th place. In their only two previous Premier League meetings, Brentford managed to pick up all 6 points Bryan Mbeumo scored in both. For West Ham, this is really a game they should and need to win. The Hammers are ranked 17th in GPG (0.8) and they haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their previous 8 games. As for Brentford, they’ll have the belief that they can take all 3 points off of their London rivals. The Bees sit 8th in GPG (1.6), but they haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their previous 9 games. This is going to be close.
My Prediction: 1-2
Liverpool VS Leicester
Liverpool returned to the Premier League in good style by beating Aston Villa away from home (1-3). They come into this game in 6th place. Leicester didn’t return in good style though as they were thrashed at home by Newcastle United (0-3). The Foxes currently sit 13th in the table. In their previous 19 meetings, Liverpool won out 11 times compared to Leicester’s 5. For Liverpool, this is a game they should win pretty comfortably. They are ranked 4th in GPG (2.1) and they are also ranked 2nd in big chances created (so far this season). As for Leicester, they can’t afford to go through another thrashing. The Foxes currently sit 8th in GPG (1.6) and they are unbeaten in their last 4 away games which is pretty decent.
My Prediction: 4-1
Wolves VS Manchester United
Wolverhampton Wanderers got off to the perfect start under Julen Lopetegui as they scored a last-minute winner to beat Everton at Goodison Park. Wolves currently sit 18th in the table. Manchester United looked pretty decent in a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest and they currently sit in 5th place. In their previous 16 meetings, Manchester United have won 50% of the time compared to Wolves’ 25%. For Wolves, they will be looking to continue their good start under their new manager, but it’s going to be tough. Wolves are still ranked bottom in GPG (0.6) and they have the second-worst home record in the league. As for Manchester United, they won’t be happy with anything other than a win here. United are ranked 10th in GPG (1.5) and they have the 5th best away record in the league.
My Prediction: 1-2
Bournemouth VS Crystal Palace
Bournemouth came out second best at Stamford Bridge (2-0 loss) but they still sit in a solid 14th place. Crystal Palace were awful on their return to the league and they were stuffed by Fulham as a result of it. Palace currently sit 11th. In their last 11 meetings, Palace have won 4 times, Bournemouth have won 2 times and there has been 5 draws. For Bournemouth, they need to take advantage of Palace’s struggles in this game. The Cherries are currently ranked 13th in GPG (1.1) and 14th in the home league table. As for Crystal Palace, they need to improve if they are to win this game. Palace are currently ranked 15th in GPG (1.0) and they have the 12th-best away record in the league.
My Prediction: 2-0
Fulham VS Southampton
Fulham kickstarted their second half of the season by going to Selhurst Park and thrashing London rivals Crystal Palace 3-0. Fulham currently sit 9th in the table, just 3 points off of the top 6. Southampton were beaten comfortably at home by Brighton and Hove Albion and the Saints currently sit bottom of the Premier League table. In their last 10 meetings, Southampton have won six times whilst Fulham have only won once. For Fulham, this is another good opportunity to pick up another 3 points. They are ranked 6th in GPG (1.7) and goalkeeper Bernd Leno is ranked second in saves per match (4.2). As for Southampton, they don’t look like a very good football team right now. They are ranked 16th in GPG (0.9) and they are ranked 18th in GCPG (1.9).
My Prediction: 3-0
Manchester City VS Everton
Manchester City did a good job away from home against Leeds United (3-1 win) and they currently sit in second place. Everton conceded late at home to Wolves and they currently sit 17th in the table, just a point above the drop zone. In their previous 27 meetings, City have come out on top 16 times whilst Everton have picked up 6 victories. Man City have won all ten of their previous matches. For City, this is a game they should really be winning big. They are currently ranked 1st in GPG (2.9) and they have the joint-best home record in the league. As for Everton, not many people will have Everton getting a result in this game. The Toffees are currently ranked 18th in GPG (0.8) and they haven’t won an away game in any of their last 5 attempts.
My Prediction: 4-0
Newcastle VS Leeds
United battles United as Newcastle welcome Leeds to St. James’ Park. Newcastle returned to the Prem with a bang last week (3-0 win at Leicester) and they currently sit third in the table. Leeds weren’t particularly impressive in their 3-1 defeat to Manchester City and they currently sit 15th as a result. In their previous 8 meetings, both teams have picked up 3 wins. For Newcastle, they will want to extend their winning run in the league to 7 games. The Magpies have the third-best home record in the league and they have kept the most clean sheets over the course of the season so far (8). As for Leeds, they know this game will be tough. They haven’t managed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 12 games and they have the second-worst away record in the league.
My Prediction: 2-0
Brighton VS Arsenal
The Seagulls host the Gunners in the final Premier League game of 2022. Brighton were impressive in their 3-1 win away to Southampton and they currently sit in 7th place. Arsenal were also impressive in their 3-1 win at home to West Ham and they currently lead the Premier League by 5 points. In their previous 13 meetings, both teams have won 5 times and in the Carabao Cup in November, Brighton won 3-1 at the Emirates. For Brighton, they will definitely believe they can get a result in this game. The Seagulls are currently ranked 7th in GPG (1.7) and they also have the 7th-best defense in the league too (1.3). As for Arsenal, they will really want to end 2022 on a high. They are currently ranked 2nd in GPG (2.4) and they also have the best away record in the league.
My Prediction: 0-1
Tottenham VS Aston Villa
Tottenham host Aston Villa in the first Premier League game of 2023. Tottenham did a decent job to earn a point after being two-nil down away to Brentford and they currently sit 4th in the league table. Aston Villa came out on the losing end at home to Liverpool (1-3) and they currently sit in 12th place as a result of it. In their previous 20 meetings, Spurs have won a whopping 85% of the time compared to Villa’s 10%. For Tottenham, this is a good opportunity for them to get back to winning ways. Spurs are currently ranked 3rd in GPG (2.1) and they have the 4th best home record in the league. As for Aston Villa, it would be a big upset if they were able to win this game. They are ranked 14th in GPG (1.1) and they are only ranked 16th in the away league table.
My Prediction: 3-1
Nottingham Forest VS Chelsea
Nottingham Forest were comfortably second best at Manchester United and they currently sit 19th in the table. Chelsea got back to winning ways last week (2-0 vs Bournemouth) and they currently sit in 8th place. Chelsea have won all three of their recent meetings by an aggregate score of 9-1. For Nottingham Forest, it’s very unlikely that they are able to pick up a result in this game. They are currently ranked 19th in GPG (0.7), but they are unbeaten in their previous 5 home games which is quite promising. As for Chelsea, this is a game they should be winning. However, they are only ranked 12th in GPG (1.3) and they haven’t scored in their last 2 away games.
