NXT Review: 24/12

Cora Jade VS Stephanie Vaquer

Credit: Gerweck

A very special Christmas Eve edition of NXT kicked off with Cora Jade taking on Stephanie Vaquer! I thought this was a good Wrestling match, I really rate Stephanie Vaquer, I think she’s been the best addition to the NXT Women’s Division this year whilst I also like Cora Jade, I think she has the potential to be special (if she can unlock it)! It was pretty smooth throughout, with some pretty good takedowns and submissions, and in the end, Vaquer was able to drop Jade with her finishing move to get the win! After the match, Kelani Jordan arrived to attack Cora with a kendo stick from behind, but Stephanie pulled Lani away!

NXT Heritage Cup: Charlie Dempsey VS Lexis King, Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn VS Fatal Influence

The D’Angelo Family talked about their history on Christmas and how they want to earn their way back to the NXT Tag Team Championships before Mr. Regal joined Lexis King as The King clashed with Charlie Dempsey with the NXT Heritage Cup on the line! The first couple of rounds were pretty even, with Charlie targeting the back of Lexis before Round 3 took place in the ad break! In Round 4, Wren Sinclair decided to jump into the ring which gifted Mr. Regal the opportunity to give King a pair of Brass Knuckles! However, Lexis refused to take them which is when Regal floored The King, but this then led to the referee thinking that Dempsey had used brass knuckles which saw him get disqualified meaning Lexis King is now the NXT Heritage Cup Champion! This was a very odd way to get there, but the more I’ve thought about it, the more I like it! Regal ultimately cost his son the Cup which is a good storyline, and The King lucked out whilst also winning the way he said he would, and that’s without cheating!

OTM talked about why they don’t like Christmas before Kelani Jordan got annoyed at Lola Vice and Stephanie Vaquer for telling her to calm down despite the way those two have acted in the past! It was then time for some Tag Team action as Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn made their returns to NXT to take on Fatal Influence! I thought this was another good match, I really rate Alba and Isla as a duo, and Jacy Jayne and Jazmyn Nyx also click together! There was also a lot going on around ringside as Gigi Dolin, Shotzi, and Tatum Paxley all showed up wearing pretty cool matching outfits whilst Katana Chance and Kayden Carter also appeared after originally being up in the crowd! All of this kafuffle on the outside ultimately played into the finish as The KC’s got into an argument with Fallon Henley and The N.Y.X. which allowed Gigi to push Jacy off the top rope, allowing the Unholy Union to hit their finisher for the win!

Ashante “Thee” Adonis VS Dion Lennox, Hank and Tank VS The D’Angelo Family VS OTM VS No Quarter Catch Crew: NXT Tag Team Championships Number 1 Contender’s Christmas Chaos

No Quarter Catch Crew were preparing for the Christmas Chaos Fatal 4-Way before Izzi Dame told Zaria that it’s better for her to not have friends than to align herself with Sol Ruca! Dion Lennox then made his way down to the ring as he went one-on-one with Ashante “Thee” Adonis! This was an okay match, it was pretty standard stuff, and it was more about Nikkita Lyons who appeared at ringside to try and “cheer” Ashante on. In the end, Lyons would put Adonis’ foot on the rope before The Music Man picked up the win with a roll-up as Nikkita celebrated with him! Fair enough!

Hank and Tank were feeling very festive in a video promo before Meta-Four got into arguments with both The KC’s and the trio of Gigi, Shotzi, and Pax! We then got a really good video package showcasing the year of The Prodigy before Lexis King wanted some time alone after finally winning a Championship! Ethan Page then had a great video promo of his own where he put over some great points as to why he did what he did before we headed into the Main Event match of the evening which was a Christmas Chaos Fatal 4-Way! The name was apt, it was Christmassy, and it was chaos! The Family were throwing snowballs, the No Quarter Catch Crew were unwrapping kendo sticks and using them as weapons, OTM were breaking candy canes, and Hank and Tank were throwing Christmas Trees! Towards the end, Hank and Tank were taken out of the contest by Tyson Dupont and Tyriek Igwe whilst Santa Claus dropped Tony D’Angelo! This allowed OTM to take advantage and pick up the win, making themselves the new Number 1 Contender’s for the NXT Tag Team Championships whilst Santa revealed himself to be none other than Ridge Holland! Just complete and utter chaos!

The NXT Championship Match Gets Set

Trick Williams came out to cut a promo at the end of this week’s NXT, but he was quickly interrupted by both Oba Femi and Eddy Thorpe! Oba rightly pointed out that he had earned a match for the NXT Championship, but Eddy also put over the fact that he was screwed last week (which is kind of true)! This annoyed Trick so he said he’d fight both of them in a Triple Threat Match at NXT New Year’s Evil, but this just annoyed Femi even more because this is a smart way for Williams to retain his Title! Ava then arrived to confirm the match for New Year’s Evil before The Ruler dropped both men to stand tall! Like I said last week, there was no need whatsoever to do this, NXT had the biggest match possible on their hands, and instead, they’ve decided to go this way!
