NXT Review: 22/10

Damage CTRL VS Meta-Four

NXT kicked off this week with the return of Kairi Sane and Iyo Sky as Damage CTRL took on Meta-Four! This was a decent match, Iyo and Kairi are so damn good, and it was so cool to see them back on NXT! Of course, they also did a good job of making Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson look strong, and Lash is simply a lot of fun to watch! Once again in WWE, a Women’s Tag Team match didn’t end with a proper finish, but interestingly this time, it was because both teams were wiped out by Chelsea Green and Piper Niven! That was definetly a bit of a surprise to me, but I liked it, there’s a lot of teams looking to get their hands on the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships!

Grade: C+

Jaida Parker VS Tatum Paxley, Oba Femi VS Luca Crusifino, Trick Williams and Ethan Page Come Face-to-Face

Hank and Tank were having fun with 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Champion Cole Custer before Ashante “Thee” Adonis continued to try and impress Karmen Petrovic. Karmen turned Adonis’ offer down, but she then got annoyed at Sol Ruca for getting involved! It was then time for the first singles match of the night as Jaida Parker clashed with Tatum Paxley! This match was totally fine, there wasn’t much to it, but I do enjoy watching Tatum! Unfortunately for Paxley, she was no match for Jaida who scored the win with a Hypnotic before Miss Parker got into an argument with Lola Vice on the outside! Oh, and after this, Wendy Choo kidnapped Tatum Paxley!

Grade: C

Lexis King praised his and Charlie Dempsey’s facial hair (which made me laugh) before Lexis asked for a shot at the NXT Heritage Cup! Surprisingly, Dempsey was more than happy to accept The King’s challenge! Wendy Choo was still pushing Tatum Paxley around in a box before Nathan Frazer got a little hot-headed when talking to Je’Von Evans! This led to Evans slapping Frazer before Je’Von bumped into Wes Lee who gave some questionable advice of his own! Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer then got their own video promos before Adrianna Rizzo was found laid out in the back! This then led into the next match as Luca Crusifino faced the difficult task of trying to take down Oba Femi! To be fair to Luca, he actually did a lot better than I expected him to, he got a lot more offense in than most people do, but he was still ultimately no match for The Ruler! Of course, Oba Femi got the win, but it was the aftermath that was more interesting as Oba beat up Crusifino and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo before Tony D’Angelo ran down to make the save. However, Femi then tied D’Angelo’s hand to the ring post as he forced The Don to watch as he destroyed both Luca and Stacks! This was effective!

Grade: C+

We officially got confirmation of the debut of “ZARIA” before Andre Chase cut a video promo where he said he’s going to put an end to Ridge Holland this weekend in an Ambulance Match! Trick Williams and Ethan Page were then out next to get in their last words before their upcoming NXT Championship Match at NXT Halloween Havoc! Ethan Page questioned Trick’s backstory to get here, and that he hasn’t got enough grit or edge to win inside of the Devil’s Playground! Williams fired back saying he showed he could go to war against the likes of Carmelo Hayes and Ilja Dragunov, but this is when Page said they’re both lesser men compared to him! The segment then ended with Ethan saying he has the devil inside of him whilst Trick said we’ll find out this Sunday! This segment was fine, I thought both men delivered their promos well, but the actual things that were being said didn’t exactly add to the story that much!

Grade: C+

Karmen Petrovic VS Sol Ruca, Hank and Tank VS OTM

Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez were chatting backstage before Fatal Influence showed up to say they’ll take care of Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer tonight! Kelani Jordan then interrupted all 5 of them to question them all before Karmen Petrovic went one-on-one with Sol Ruca. This was a pretty even match, but if I had to say one person was more in control, I’d probably say Karmen. However, Petrovic couldn’t help herself as she continuously got distracted by Ashante “Thee” Adonis being in the crowd with a women, and this ultimately opened the door for Ruca to deliver an amazing Sol Snatcher for the 3 count!

Grade: C+

Nikkita Lyons was talking to Tyson Dupont and Tyriek Igwe about having to seize their opportunities which is when Oba Femi handed Nikkita Lyons her coat and said “Thank you”! Cole Custer was then back as he accompanied Hank and Tank down to the ring for their match with OTM! As always, Hank and Tank are a lot of fun to watch, their energy is unmatched, but they were taken down a lot by Bronco Nima and Lucien Price. However, after Jaida Parker was looking to wipe out Tank Ledger, Lola Vice ran down to take her out before the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series Champion got involved by hitting OTM with a helmet which allowed Hank Walker to hit his move to score the win! After the match, Custer, Hank and Tank, and Lola Vice all danced for some reason!

Grade: C+

Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer VS Fatal Influence

After Nathan Frazer got mad at Ava, Lexis King asked Ava to give him a corner man for next week’s NXT Heritage Cup Match, and Ridge Holland and Tony D’Angelo cut separate promos, it was Main Event time as Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer teamed up for the first time to take on Fatal Influence! Both Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer looked good here, and that’s all NXT could of asked for! It helps that Jacy Jayne and Fallon Henley are good sellers, but yeah, I thought this was a good Main Event! Jazmyn Nyx did her best to help out her partners, but she was ultimately dealt with by Kelani Jordan before Vaquer hit her finisher onto Jayne to score the win! After the match, Giulia and Stephanie had a tense face-off with Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade before Jacy Jayne spun the wheel to reveal that the NXT Women’s North American Championship match this weekend will be contested under “Spinner’s Choice”! Oh, and ZARIA then showed up to end the show which was pretty cool!

Grade: B-

Note: I’m sorry that this Review didn’t come out yesterday, but technical difficulties meant I was only able to watch the show this morning!
