Women’s United States Championship: Chelsea Green VS Sol Ruca

After a recap of last week’s historic NXT Roadblock, NXT kicked off this week with the Women’s United States Championship on the line as Chelsea Green defended against Sol Ruca! This match was mixed, it had some pretty good moments, but there were also a few too many sloppy moments too, particularly on Sol’s side! Alba Fyre made her presence known, but she was taken out by Zaria before Piper Niven took care of her, only for Ruca to wipe out Niven with a Moonsault! However, this distraction cost Sol as Chelsea was able to target the already-injured knee before Ms. Green hit the Unprettiher to get the win and retain her US Title!

Stephanie Vaquer Promo, Hank and Tank VS Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura, The D’Angelo Family VS The Culling

Je’Von Evans told Trick Williams that they need to be working together in order to take out the new faction that’s been causing chaos recently, but Trick told Je’Von that they’re not on the same level (for some reason)! Lexis King also tried to disrespect Evans which didn’t work before Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo made the call for Tony D’Angelo to stay in the back for The D’Angelo Family’s 6-Person Mixed Tag Team Match! Stephanie Vaquer was then out next as the brand-new NXT and NXT Women’s North American Champion wanted to speak about her history-making moment from NXT Roadblock! Stephanie said that whilst English isn’t her first language, Wrestling is, and she has well and truly shown that she is La Primera! Jordynne Grace then interrupted this segment to talk about her big victory over Roxanne Perez last week, but she was quickly taken out by Jaida Parker who cut a really good promo on Vaquer that resulted in an NXT Women’s Championship match being booked for next week! I thought this was a good segment, I thought both Stephanie and Jaida did well!

After a backstage segment, Hank and Tank were ready to take it to the extreme in their match against Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura! This was a solid match, I really like Hank and Tank, and I think Briggs and Inamura work really well together! The story of this was simple, Hank and Tank continued to try and go extreme after their interaction with The Hardy Boyz a couple of weeks ago, but the problem with that is it doesn’t suit their wrestling style! Because of that, Briggs and Inamura were eventually able to take advantage and get the win!

Eddy Thorpe seemed to find himself an acquaintance in the form of Ridge Holland before The Culling made their in-ring debut as a trio when they took on The D’Angelo Family! This was good I thought, I like Brooks Jensen and Izzi Dame, but I have to say that I was particularly impressed by Adrianna Rizzo here, she was really on it! This match could’ve gone either way, with both teams looking strong, but backstage, Tony D’Angelo was attacked by the new PC faction which distracted The Family, allowing Niko Vance to hit his finisher to get the win!

Jacy Jayne VS Karmen Petrovic, Ridge Holland VS Ricky Saints

Stephanie Vaquer was speaking to Ava in her office before Fallon Henley walked in demanding her rematch for the NXT Women’s North American Championship! Ava rejected Fallon’s request, but Stephanie said she’d be happy to face Henley next week (on the same night she’s defending her NXT Women’s Title against Jaida Parker) before it was time for Jacy Jayne to go one-on-one with Karmen Petrovic! This was a pretty even match, both women got their offense in, and it could’ve gone either way. However, after being hit in the back with a steel chair a month ago, Ashante “Thee” Adonis handed one to Karmen to try and get some revenge, but Petrovic refused to! This distraction ultimately cost Karmen as Jacy Jayne hit the Rolling Encore to get the 3 count!

Hank and Tank were disappointed with themselves for losing another match before Wes Lee came in to talk down to them! Jaida Parker then cut another promo saying she’s walking out next week as the new NXT Women’s Champion before Ricky Saints made his singles debut against Ridge Holland! This was fine for what it was, there isn’t much to note, nothing went wrong which is good, but there also wasn’t really anything that stood out! The thing that is worth mentioning, though, is Ricky Saints was able to get the win as he continues to build momentum!

Eddy Thorpe VS Trick Williams: NXT Underground

After “Darkstate” said their night wasn’t over and Ricky Saints had another interaction with The Culling, it was Main Event time as Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe collided in NXT Underground! I’ve never been a particularly big fan of NXT Underground, I don’t really enjoy the concept, but this didn’t really feel like an Underground Match, more like a normal match with no rules. Trick and Eddy brawled on the outside, they threw each other into the Performance Center athletes, and they both tried to make their opponents tap out! However, Trick Williams then decided that he’d just deliver a Trick Shot plus a couple of punches and that was enough for him to win the match, like it really was that easy! After the match, Williams called out Oba Femi who stormed down to the ring, but this is when Darkstate appeared in the crowd! Je’Von Evans then showed up to try and get Trick and Oba to work together to help take out Darkstate, but that didn’t work so Evans floored Femi with a Cutter to prove a point! I’m actually not against a Triple Threat match at NXT Stand and Deliver, that could be quite interesting! As for the match itself, it was very short!
