NFL Week 9 Preview and Predictions: Part 1

Teams on a Bye Week:

Dallas Cowboys (6-2)
New York Giants (6-2)
San Francisco 49ers (4-4)
Denver Broncos (3-5)
Cleveland Browns (3-5)
Pittsburgh Steelers (2-6)

(7-0) Philadelphia Eagles @ Houston Texans (1-5-1)

The Houston Texans suffered their fifth defeat of the season last week against the Tennessee Titans. They are currently bottom of the AFC South and only one team has a worse record than them right now. As for Philadelphia, they made it 7 wins from 7 in a comfortable way against the Pittsburgh Steelers (35-13). They are currently top of the NFC East as the only unbeaten team left in the league. Overall, I am going with the Eagles. If this game was being played on Madden, I could see the Texans winning it. That’s not how it works though and realistically, Philly should destroy Houston.

(4-3) Los Angeles Chargers @ Atlanta Falcons (4-4)

The Atlanta Falcons managed to get themselves a big victory against the Carolina Panthers last week. They probably should have lost that game, but you need that sort of luck if you are to compete for a spot in the playoffs. The Falcons currently sit atop of the NFC South. As for Los Angeles, they spent their bye week trying to work out how they can beat the Kansas City Chiefs to the AFC West title. They currently sit second, just 1 win behind Kansas. Overall, I am going with the Chargers. I think the Chargers will really benefit from having last week off as it allowed them to strategize to their fullest potential.

(5-3) Miami Dolphins @ Chicago Bears (3-5)

The Chicago Bears defense got pummelled in Dallas. The offense scored a pretty good 29 points, but the defense managed to concede a whopping 49. It was a pretty bad day for them as they still find themselves in 3rd spot in the NFC North. As for Miami, they managed to pick up an important win away to the Detroit Lions (31-27). The Dolphins currently sit third in the AFC East but if the season ended today, they would be the number 6 seed (in the AFC). Overall, I am picking the Dolphins to win and I will summarise it in 4 words. Tua plays, Tua wins!

(2-6) Carolina Panthers @ Cincinnati Bengals (4-4)

The Cincinnati Bengals good run of form ended with a comfortable defeat in Cleveland (32-13). The loss means they stay second in the AFC North, but they are now a win behind the Ravens in first. As for Carolina, they suffered a narrow loss in Atlanta (37-34). It’s a game that will really hurt them as they missed a field goal to win the game on two separate occasions. They currently sit bottom of the NFC South. Overall, I am going with the Bengals. This is a game that they should be breezing through, but you just never know anymore given how crazy this season has been.

(3-5) Green Bay Packers @ Detroit Lions (1-6)

The Detroit Lions played alright last week but they ended up coming short against the Miami Dolphins (31-27). They are currently bottom of the NFC North on a 5-match losing streak. In fact, they have the worst record in the entire league. As for Green Bay, they suffered a 10-point loss against the Buffalo Bills. It wasn’t a terrible loss, but that comment is pretty concerning when talking about the Green Bay Packers. They currently sit second in the NFC North after 4 defeats in a row. Overall, I am going with the Packers. Despite their struggles, they should still be winning this game.

(3-4-1) Indianapolis Colts @ New England Patriots (4-4)

The New England Patriots bounced back with a massive win in New York against division rivals the Jets. They are still bottom of the AFC East but the 4-4 record means they are currently ranked 8th in the AFC. As for Indianapolis, they suffered a terrible 16-17 loss at home to the Washington Commanders. The loss means they drop back under .500 but they still sit second in the AFC South due to the lack of decent teams. Overall, I am going with New England to win this one. They are the much better side and it would be really disappointing if they lost this one. (I also said the same thing about their matchup with the Bears and they ended up getting thrashed in that one so yeah!)

(6-1) Buffalo Bills @ New York Jets (5-3)

The New York Jets suffered their first defeat since Week 3 last time out against division rivals the New England Patriots (22-17). They still sit second in the AFC East. As for Buffalo, they breezed through the Green Bay Packers on last week's Sunday Night Football (27-17). They currently sit top of the AFC East and they have the best record out of any team in the AFC. Overall, I am going with the Bills. This would be some win if the Jets could pull it off, but it feels like they would have a better chance at Orchard Park. They are 1-3 at home this season whilst they have won all 4 of their games on the road. This game will definitely test the Bills, but right now, they are just too good.
