NFL Week 8 Preview and Predictions: Part 1

Teams on a Bye Week

Kansas City Chiefs: 5-2

Los Angeles Chargers: 4-3

(4-3) Baltimore Ravens @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-4)

Is it time to panic if you are a supporter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It’s hard to say because they suffered a second successive poor loss expect this time, they were absolutely thrashed by the Carolina Panthers (21-3). However, it’s not all bad for the Bucs because they still lead the NFC South. As for Baltimore, they got back to winning ways last time out against the Cleveland Browns (23-20). The win means they stay atop of the AFC North (for now). Overall, I am going with the Baltimore Ravens to win this one. Jackson VS Brady should always be a fun contest to watch but in my opinion, it’s clear to see which team is playing better football right now.

(2-5) Denver Broncos @ Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5)

Jacksonville Jaguars can’t win a football game right now. Hosting the Giants was always going to be tough, but it doesn’t change the fact that the Jags (once again) aren’t good enough. They currently sit third in the AFC South. As for Denver, they also lost at home to a highflying team from New York (the Jets). They are currently bottom of the AFC West. Overall, I’m picking the Broncos to win. Both teams are coming into this game on a 4-game losing streak and if I’m being honest, neither team is particularly good. I’ve gone with the Broncos, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the Jaguars get the W in their return to London.

(2-5) Carolina Panthers @ Atlanta Falcons (3-4)

The Atlanta Falcons were blown away in Cincinatti last week (35-17) and know just how important this game is. They currently sit second in the NFC South, level on wins with the Bucs. As for Carolina, they may have just resurrected their season after they stuffed division rivals the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (21-3). They currently sit third in the NFC South. Overall, I am going with the Atlanta Falcons. Despite their tough starts to the season, both teams are well within the fight for a playoff spot due to fellow NFC South teams struggles. This is one of those games that both teams need to be winning and the home crowd could play a big part. That’s why I’m going with the Falcons.

(3-4) Chicago Bears @ Dallas Cowboys (5-2)

The Dallas Cowboys got back to winning ways last week as they breezed past the Detroit Lions (24-6) in Arlington. They are still sitting third in the NFC East, but I doubt that they’re too concerned about it. As for Chicago, they finally remembered how to play good football. They went to New England and destroyed the Patriots 33-14. They currently sit third in the NFC North and will be looking to continue their form this weekend. Overall, I am picking the Dallas Cowboys to win this game. As well as Chicago did last week, it’s no guarantee that they will perform that well again this week whilst with Dallas, they’ve continued to show their quality since they lost in Week 1.

(4-3) Miami Dolphins @ Detroit Lions (1-5)

After a week off, the Detroit Lions returned and got thrashed by the Dallas Cowboys (24-6). They sit bottom of the NFC North and are without a win since Week 2. As for Miami, Tua Tagovailoa returned and that meant the Miami Dolphins returned to winning ways. The Dolphins currently sit third in the AFC East. Overall, I am going with the Miami Dolphins. Why, 2 reasons. Firstly, Detroit are pretty rubbish and second of all, Tua’s playing. He’s becoming the 2017-21 Jimmy G.

(3-4) Arizona Cardinals @ Minnesota Vikings (5-1)

The Minnesota Vikings return to action after a bye week. They still sit first in the NFC North and since they’ve been gone, their gap to the rest of the division has actually grown. As for Arizona, they earnt themselves a really important win against the New Orleans Saints on last week’s Thursday Night Football. They are currently still bottom of the NFC West, but they are within a win off top spot. Overall, I expect the Minnesota Vikings to get the W. They are the better team and they come into this weekend fresher than before. The one thing I will say is from an Arizona point of view, a loss wouldn’t be the end of the world, but a win could be huge come the end of the season.

(2-4) Las Vegas Raiders @ New Orleans Saints (2-5)

The New Orleans Saints are having a horrendous season. I put the Saints in the same category as the Eagles this season in that they could have a great season, but it’s only happened for one of them. The loss last week against the Cardinals means they have only managed 2 wins in 7 attempts. They are also bottom of the NFC South but are within a game off of first due to their rivals struggles. As for Las Vegas, they got an important win last time out at home to Houston (38-20). The win means they are now up to 3rd in the AFC West. Overall, I am picking the Raiders to comfortably win this game. Despite their tough start to the season, I have a lot more faith in this Raiders team than I do the Saints.

(3-4) New England Patriots @ New York Jets (5-2)

The Jets made it 4 wins in a row last time out when they went to Denver and conquered the Broncos. Their amazing start to the season means they are currently 2nd place in the AFC East. As for New England, their good run of form was ended when they got thrashed by the Chicago Bears on their home turf! They currently find themselves bottom of the AFC East. Overall, I am going with the Jets in this one. With how well they are doing, it would be harsh to bet against them. Also, this is a game that the Patriots can’t afford to lose.
