NFL Week 14 Preview and Predictions: Part 1

Teams on a Bye Week:

Washington Commanders (7-5-1)

Green Bay Packers (5-8)

Atlanta Falcons (5-8)

Indianapolis Colts (4-8-1)

New Orleans Saints (4-9)

Chicago Bears (3-10)

(5-7) Las Vegas Raiders @ Los Angeles Rams (3-9)

The Los Angeles Rams lost the lead to the Seattle Seahawks with under 30 seconds to play in the game. That loss means they are on a 6-game losing streak. As it stands, the Rams sit bottom of the NFC West and if the season ended today, only 1 team would finish below them in the NFC rankings. As for Las Vegas, they picked up an important win over the Los Angeles Chargers meaning they come into this game on the back of 3 successive victories. As it stands, the Raiders sit third in the AFC West and if the season ended today, they would still be a little bit behind the teams in the playoffs. Overall, I am going with the Raiders. Both teams have had really disappointing seasons but at least the Raiders are trying to fix it. From a Raiders point of view, this would be a terrible game to lose.

(7-5) New York Jets @ Buffalo Bills (9-3)

The Buffalo Bills picked up a massive victory last time out against the New England Patriots (24-10). As it stands, the Bills sit atop of the AFC East and if the season ended today, they would take the number 1 seed meaning they would get a bye straight into the divisional round. As for New York, they came close to picking up a major win in Minnesota but it just wasn’t meant to be (22-27). As it stands, the Jets sit third in the AFC West and if the season ended today, the Jets would just make it into the playoffs as the 7th seed. Overall, I am going with the Bills. I think the Jets can make a good game out of this but I don’t see them quite having enough to topple the Bills. Whatever happens, it’s going to be good.

(5-7) Cleveland Browns @ Cincinnati Bengals (8-4)

The Cincinnati Bengals showed everyone that they are the real deal by once again beating the Kansas City Chiefs (27-24). As it stands, the Bengals sit second in the AFC North and if the season ended today, they would be the number 5 seed. As for Cleveland, they also managed to pick up a victory, theirs being against the Houston Texans (27-14). As it stands, the Browns sit third in the AFC North and if the season ended today, they wouldn’t make the playoffs. Overall, I am going with the Bengals. The Bengals come into this game on a 4 match winning streak whilst the Browns are on a 2 game winning streak but for me, the Bengals are so much better. Cincinnati will look to expose Deshaun Watson this Sunday.

(1-10-1) Houston Texans @ Dallas Cowboys (9-3)

Somehow, the Dallas Cowboys managed to score 33 points in the final quarter and they also stopped the Colts from scoring anything too (54-19 in the end). As it stands, the Cowboys sit second in the NFC East and if the season ended today, they would be taking the number 5 seed. Would not want to play them. As for Houston, they suffered a 27-14 loss against the returning Deshaun Watson (returning in more than one term). As it stands, the Texans sit bottom of the AFC South and if the season ended today, they would take the number 1 pick in the draft. Overall, the Cowboys are winning this game big. This is a Texas VS Texas matchup but the difference in quality between the teams is ridiculous.

(10-2) Minnesota Vikings @ Detroit Lions (5-7)

The Detroit Lions destroyed the Jacksonville Jaguars last week (40-14) and their current run is as good as the top teams in this league. As it stands, the Lions sit second in the NFC North and if the season ended today, they would miss out on the playoffs but the 9th best team in the NFC is a decent effort. As for Minnesota, they picked up an important victory over the New York Jets to move them one step closer to being the first team to guarantee themselves a place in this years playoffs. As it stands, the Vikings sit top of the NFC North and if the season ended today, the Vikings would take the number 2 seed in the NFC. Overall, I am going to go with the Vikings. Both teams are 4-1 in their last 5 games and you can’t count out the Lions from pulling off a big upset. I think it will be close but the Vikings should just have enough.

(4-8) Jacksonville Jaguars @ Tennessee Titans (7-5)

The Tennessee Titans are struggling to win at the moment. They were stuffed 35-10 by the Philadelphia Eagles just a week after the Bengals. Yes they are tough teams but these are the types of teams the Titans are going to have to beat if they want to win the Super Bowl. As it stands, they still sit comfortably top of the AFC South and if they season ended today, they would only be ranked as the number 4 seed which really isn’t the place you want to be. As for Jacksonville, they were absolutely humiliated by the Detroit Lions last week (40-14). As it stands, the Jags sit third in the AFC South and if the season ended today, they would finish as the third worst team in the AFC. I thought this season was going to be a bit better for them. Overall, I am picking the Titans. Even if they are struggling, they should have more than enough to get the win here. If anything, it’s very important that they win this game big.
