My ABB FIA Formula E Season 10 Predictions

Updated: Mar 30

For the first time in 2024, I make my Predictions for an upcoming Motorsport Season. In less than two days, Season 10 of ABB FIA Formula E will go green in Mexico City and it’s time for me to make some terrible Predictions before I get to laugh at myself after the season’s over!

Credit: VelocityNews

P22: Sergio Sette Camara

Credit: Autosport

In my opinion, Sergio Sette Camara is one of the least exciting drivers on the Formula E Grid. The 25-year-old Brazilian racing driver is driving for ERT Formula E Team in 2024 and his highest-ever Championship finish was P4 in the 2019 FIA Formula 2 Championship. When it comes to Formula E, Sette Camara has been on the Grid for about 3 and a half seasons and his highest Championship finish was only 20th (in both Season 8 and 9). Overall, I don’t rate Sergio Sette Camara particularly highly, nor do I rate ERT very highly.

P21: Oliver Rowland

Credit: Oliver Rowland on X

After an unsuccessful stint at Mahindra, Oliver Rowland returns to Nissan for another crack at Formula E. The 31-year-old British racing driver is driving for Nissan Formula E Team in Season 10 and his highest-ever Championship finish came in 2015 when he won the Formula Renault 3.5 Series. When it comes to Formula E, Rowland has driven in 64 E-Prix’s, winning one of them (Berlin 2020) and Oliver’s highest Championship finish in the series was P5 in Season 6 (2020). Still, I don’t think Rowland’s the best of drivers and I’m honestly confused that he’s found his way back onto the grid considering he was dropped mid-season last year.

P20: Nico Muller

Credit: ABT Sportsline

Nico Muller will be hoping to build off an okay first season with ABT CUPRA. The 31-year-old Swiss racing driver is driving for ABT Cupra in 2024 and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2009 Swiss Formula Renault 2.0 Championship. When it comes to Formula E, Muller has competed in 2 and a half seasons and his highest Championship finish was P19 last year. I don’t necessarily think Nico Muller’s a poor driver, but ABT CUPRA certainly aren’t great.

P19: Dan Ticktum

Credit: Motor Sport Magazine

Dan Ticktum is back for another season in Formula E. The 24-year-old British racing driver is driving for ERT Formula E Team in Season 10 and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he finished runner-up in the 2018 FIA Formula 3 European Championship (behind Mick Schumacher). When it comes to Formula E, Ticktum has driven in two full seasons and his highest Championship finish was P17 last year. Dan Ticktum actually did a decent job at times last year, but I can’t see him finishing much higher than this unless ERT come out of the blocks firing.

P18: Lucas di Grassi

Credit: Formula E

Lucas di Grassi returns to ABT looking to have a much stronger year than Season 9. The 39-year-old Brazilian racing driver is driving for ABT CUPRA in 2024 and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the Formula E Championship in Season 3 (2017). When it comes to Formula E, Di Grassi has competed in every season of F3 and he’s a 13-time E-Prix winner as well as a Formula E Champion. However, Lucas had by far his worst year in the series last season and I really think ABT CUPRA aren’t quick enough for di Grassi to achieve much.

P17: Sacha Fenestraz

Credit: Motorsport.com

Sacha Fenestraz is looking to build off of a decent Rookie season. The 24-year-old French-Argentine racing driver is driving for Nissan Formula E Team in Season 10 and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2017 Formula Renault Eurocup Championship as well as the 2019 Japanese Formula 3 Championship. When it comes to Formula E, Fenestraz did a decent job in his Rookie season last year and he ultimately finished 16th in the Standings. Overall, I like Sacha Fenestraz and I expect him to beat his teammate. However, I don’t think he’ll be able to achieve too much with Nissan.

P16: Jake Hughes

Credit: Formula E

Jake Hughes is looking to improve on his Rookie season with NEOM McLaren. The 29-year-old British racing driver is driving for NEOM McLaren in 2024 and his highest-ever Championship finish came back in 2013 when he won the BRDC Formula 4 Championship. When it comes to Formula E, Hughes finished 12th in the Championship in his Rookie season after a pretty decent showing. However, I don’t expect as much out of Jake in his second year.

P15: Edoardo Mortara

Credit: Formula E

Edoardo Mortara is back for another year in Formula E, but this time with Mahindra Racing. The 36-year-old Swiss-Italian-French racing driver is driving for Mahindra Racing in Season 10 and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2010 Formula 3 Euro Series (a series that Valtteri Bottas competed in ) whilst it’s also worth mentioning that Edo Mortara is a master of Macau. When it comes to Formula E, Mortara’s driven in FE for 6 years and his highest Championship finish in the series came in Season 7 (2021) when he finished as the runner-up. However, it’s worth mentioning that Edoardo Mortara had a pretty poor 2023 season and the fact that he may miss a weekend to prioritise WEC has forced me to put him lower than I may have originally thought.

P14: Jehan Daruvala

Credit: Formula E

A lot of eyes will be on Jehan Daruvala as he enters Season 10 as the only Rookie on the Grid. The 25-year-old Indian racing driver is driving for Maserati MSG Racing in 2024 and his highest-ever Championship finish was P2 in the 2016 Toyota Racing Series (Lando Norris won the Title). Whilst Daruvala is a Rookie on the Formula E Grid, Jehan has driven FE machinery in the past so he should be able to get up to speed relatively quickly. However, I think Jehan Daruvala has a lot to prove after not having the most splendid of junior careers.

P13: Nyck de Vries

Credit: EverythingF1

Nyck de Vries returns to the Formula E Grid after a rather unsuccessful “stint” in Formula 1. The 28-year-old Dutch racing driver is driving for Mahindra Racing in Season 10 and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and Formula Renault 2.0 Alps Championships (both in 2014), the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2019, and also when he became the inaugural Formula E World Champion in 2021 (Season 7). When it comes to Formula E, de Vries has driven in three full seasons and he’s a 4-time E-Prix Winner as well as a former Champion. I’m personally really excited to see what Nyck can do after a pretty tough run with Alpha Tauri in Formula 1, but I can’t place him any higher due to both his car and the fact that de Vries may miss the Berlin weekend as well.

P12: Sam Bird

Credit: Formula E

After three years with Jaguar, Sam Bird embarks on a new challenge with NEOM McLaren! The 37-year-old British racing driver is driving for NEOM McLaren in 2024 and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2015 World Endurance Championship (LMP2 Class) with Roman Rusinov and Julien Canal. When it comes to Formula E, Bird has competed in every season and his highest Championship finish was P3 in Season 4 (2018). Personally, I don’t rate Sam Bird as highly as most other people do and the fact that he’s driving for McLaren has ultimately meant he’s only P12 in my Predictions.

P11: Robin Frijns

Credit: E-Formula.news

After a terrible year with ABT CUPRA, Robin Frijns is back at Envision Racing. The 32-year-old Dutch racing driver is driving for Envision Racing in Season 10 and Robin has won plenty of Championships, including Formula BMW Europe, Formula Renault 3.5 Series, the Blancpain GT Cup, as well as the 2021 World Endurance Championship (in LMP2 Class). When it comes to Formula E, Frijns has competed in 7 of the 9 Seasons and his highest Championship finish was 4th in 2019 (Season 5). Whilst Robin Frijns is a pretty consistent driver, he was very poor last year, but his car and the fact that he broke his wrists on the opening lap of the season certainly didn’t help his cause. Ultimately, the fact that Robin is more likely to prioritise WEC over FE is why I have him just outside the Top 10.

P10: Stoffel Vandoorne

Credit: Formula E

Stoffel Vandoorne will be hoping for a much better second year with DS Penske than his first. The 31-year-old Belgian racing driver is driving for DS Penske in 2024 and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2010 FR Eurocup 1.6 Championship, the 2012 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Championship, the 2015 GP2 Series, and the 2022 (Season 8) FIA Formula E World Championship. When it comes to Formula E, Vandoorne has competed in 5 full seasons and his highest Championship finish obviously came when he brilliantly won the Season 8 Title. However, Stoffel struggled a lot more than expected in his first year with DS Penske, and whilst I think he will go better this year, I’m not fully convinced by their partnership.

P9: Antonio Felix da Costa

Credit: E-Formula.news

I think it’s important for Antonio Felix da Costa to get closer to the Championship fight in Season 10. The 32-year-old Portuguese racing driver is driving for TAG Heuer Porsche in Season 10 and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2009 Formula Renault 2.0 NEC Championship, the 2020 (Season 6) Formula E Championship, and the 2022 World Endurance Championship (in LMP2 Class). When it comes to Formula E, da Costa has competed in every season and he’s an 8-time E-Prix winner as well as the Season 6 Champion. Weirdly though, since he won the FE Title in 2020, Antonio Felix da Costa has finished either 8th or 9th in the Championship which is why I’ve got him to finish there this year.

P8: Sebastien Buemi

Credit: buemi.ch

Sebastien Buemi looks to build on a really positive Season 9. The 35-year-old Swiss racing driver is driving for Envision Racing in 2024 and Sebastien is a former 4-time World Endurance Champion as well as the Season 2 Formula E Champion. When it comes to Formula E, Buemi has competed in all 9 seasons and has won 13 E-Prix’s as well as a Drivers’ Title. Whilst Sebastien Buemi’s last couple of years with Nissan went pretty terribly, Seb drove really well for Envision last year and the only reason I’ve got him as low as he is is because Buemi will most likely prioritise WEC over FE (and rightly so given his track record).

P7: Norman Nato

Credit: Formula E

I’m happy that Norman Nato’s found himself a seat at Andretti as I believe he deserves it. The 31-year-old French racing driver is driving for Andretti Global in Season 10 and his highest-ever Championship finish was P2 in both the 2010 F4 Eurocup 1.6 Championship, and the 2012 Formula Renault 2.0 Alps Championship (he finished just 3 points behind Champion Daniil Kvyat). When it comes to Formula E, Nato has driven in 33 E-Prix’s and his highest Championship finish was P10 last year (with Nissan). Norman is also a former E-Prix winner (Berlin Season 7) and it’s amazing to think he’s gone from one of the weaker teams to one of the best. However, it looks like Nato’s going to be prioritising WEC over FE which is why I’ve got him to finish 7th (in the Standings).

P6: Maximilian Gunther

Credit: Motorpsort Week

With a Rookie for a teammate, Maserati MSG’s hopes lie firmly on the shoulders of Maximilian Gunther. The 26-year-old German-Austrian racing driver is driving for Maserati MSG Racing in 2024 and his highest-ever Championship finish was P2 in the 2011 Formula BMW Talent Cup, the ADAC Formel Masters (both in 2013 and 2014), and the 2016 FIA Formula 3 European Championship (behind Lance Stroll and ahead of George Russell). When it comes to Formula E, Max Gunther has competed since Season 5 and his highest Championship finish was P7 last year. I was very impressed with Maximilian Gunther’s speed in the second half of last year and I think he could well be one to watch in Season 10.

P5: Jean-Eric Vergne

Credit: Autosport

Jean-Eric Vergne is back for yet another year in Formula E. The 33-year-old French racing driver is driving for DS Penske in Season 10 and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2010 British Formula 3 International Series as well as both the 2018 and 2019 (Season 4 and 5) Formula E Championship. When it comes to Formula E, JEV has competed in every season and he’s the only 2-time Champion in the series history. I really rate Jean-Eric Vergne, I think he’s a really good driver which is why I’ve placed him this high in my Predictions. At most, I think JEV could finish 4th, but I don’t think his DS Penske is good enough to break back into the Top 3.

P4: Pascal Wehrlein

Pascal Wehrlein is the first driver I think could have a chance at becoming Formula E’s Season 10 Champion. The 29-year-old German and Mauritian racing driver is driving for TAG Heuer Porsche in 2024 and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2011 ADAC Formel Masters Championship as well as the 2015 DTM Title. When it comes to Formula E, Wehrlein has driven in every season since Season 5 and his highest Championship finish was P4 last year. If TAG Heuer Porsche bring the pace they had at the start of Season 9 for the entire 2024 Season, Pascal Wehrlein has a genuine chance of becoming a World Champion. However, I’m not quite sure that Porsche are good enough to do that which is a shame as Pascal is a really good driver.

P3: Mitch Evans

Credit: Formula E

Once again, I envision Mitch Evans just missing out on the Formula E Title. The 29-year-old New Zealander racing driver is driving for Jaguar TCS Racing in Season 10 and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won both the 2010 and 2011 Toyota Racing Series as well as the 2012 GP3 Series (Title). When it comes to Formula E, Evans has competed in 7 full seasons and his highest Championship finish was runner-up (P2) in Season 8 (2022). I think Mitch Evans is a really fast racing driver who really should have at least 1 Formula E Championship under his belt. However, I feel like Mitch is going to miss out again which is quite cruel honestly.

P2: Jake Dennis

Credit: Formula E

In a quite tough and difficult decision, I’m not going to predict Jake Dennis to retain his Formula E World Championship. The 28-year-old British racing driver is driving for Andretti Global in 2024 and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2012 Formula Renault 2.0 NEC Championship as well as last year’s Formula E Championship. When it comes to Formula E, Dennis has competed in three seasons and his highlight came when he was crowned World Champion in London last July. I thought Jake Dennis was absolutely brilliant last year on route to becoming World Champion and I can easily see him becoming a 2-time World Champ by the end of Season 10. However, I have slight reservations when it comes to Andretti being as strong as they were last year plus we’ve seen over the 9 years of Formula E just how difficult it is for a Champion to retain his crown.

P1: Nick Cassidy

Credit: Autosport

For me, I believe Nick Cassidy will end Season 10 as the brand-new ABB FIA Formula E World Champion! The 29-year-old New Zealander racing driver is driving for Jaguar TCS Racing in 2024 and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won both the 2012 and 2013 Toyota Racing Series (which is rather ironic), the 2015 Japanese Formula 3 Championship, the 2017 Super GT- GT500 Title, and the 2019 Super Formula Championship (a pretty impressive resume if you ask me)! When it comes to Formula E, Cassidy has competed since Season 7 and his highest Championship finish was second place last year. Nick Cassidy was the main man at Envision Racing last year as Envision won the Teams’ Championship. The fact that Nick left them to go to Jaguar, Envision’s Rivals in Season 9, to join up with a fellow Kiwi who’s also a former 2-time Toyota Racing Series Champion and the man that was ultimately kind of responsible for Cassidy not winning the Formula E Championship last year is both a bold and very intriguing move. For me, there’s just something poetic about Nick Cassidy joining Jaguar and giving them their first World Championship. However, it should be mentioned that my Predictions never really go very well so I’d be a bit worried if you’re a Cassidy fan!

Note: If you enjoyed this article about Formula E, I will be writing about Season 10 over on “The Laid Back Race Blog” if you want to check it out (that would be most appreciated)!
