My 2025 FIA Formula 3 Predictions

Linus O'Howell

With the season officially starting this week, it’s time for me to make my Predictions for the 2025 FIA Formula 3 Championship! These articles don’t usually tend to go very well, I mean predicting 30 young drivers is quite challenging, and there’s also the added caveat that F3 are running a new car this year! Despite that, I’m still here to have a little bit of fun so let’s get started!

P30: Nicola Marinangeli

Nicola Marinangeli steps up to FIA Formula 3! The 21-year-old Italian racing driver is driving for AIX Racing in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish was third in last year’s International GT Open! After struggling in single-seaters, Nicola turned to GT Racing, but he’s now arriving in Formula 3 with a lot more questions than answers! Personally, I can’t see Marinangeli doing any well!

P29: Nicola Lacorte

Alpine Academy driver Nicola Lacorte is hoping to showcase his talents in his Rookie F3 Season! The 17-year-old Italian racing driver is driving for DAMS Lucas Oil in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish was 9th in both the 2023 Italian F4 and Euro 4 Championships! Firstly, it’s so unclear as to how competitive DAMS are going to be given it’s their first year back in the third tier of Motorsport, but secondly, Lacorte doesn’t look particularly good at all!

P28: Nikita Bedrin

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

I swear I have nothing against Italy as Nikita Bedrin completes an Italian hat-trick! The 19-year-old Russian (driving under an Italian license) is driving for AIX Racing in Melbourne, and his highest-ever Championship finish was 4th in both the 2022 Formula 4 UAE and ADAC Formula 4 Championships! When it comes to Formula 3, Bedrin has competed in 2 full seasons, and his highest Championship finish was 18th (in 2023)! Now, it’s worth mentioning that as of right now, Nikita is only driving for AIX Racing in the Season Opener in Melbourne, but I still think he’ll manage to do better in one weekend than the two guys I’ve already spoken about!

P27: Matias Zagazeta

Credit: DAMS Lucas Oil
Credit: DAMS Lucas Oil

Matias Zagazeta is looking to have a much stronger second year in FIA Formula 3! The 21-year-old Peruvian racing driver is driving for DAMS Lucas Oil in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish was second in the 2021 F4 British Championship! When it comes to Formula 3, Zagazeta had just one points finish in his entire Rookie Season, but amazingly, that was a Podium (P3) in the Silverstone Sprint (he finished 25th in the Standings)! It’s hard to know if Matias Zagazeta is going to have a better year this go around, but ultimately, I have him to do slightly worse!

P26: Ivan Domingues

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

Ivan Domingues continues to climb up the Motorsport ladder with VAR! The 18-year-old Portuguese racing driver is driving for Van Amersfoort Racing in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish was 10th in last year’s Formula Regional European Championship! Given Ivan’s been with VAR since 2023 tells me that they have a good understanding of each other, but his lack of accolades is why I see him being beaten by both of his teammates!

P25: Javier Sagrera

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

Javier Sagrera is aiming to be AIX Racing’s Number 1 Driver in 2025! The 21-year-old Spanish racing driver is driving for AIX Racing in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish was second in last year’s Eurocup-3 Championship! Javier Sagrera honestly feels like a better driver than some people I have to finish above him, but I’m worried about the fact that Javier is with the worst team on the Grid! However, I do expect Sagrera to bag some points this year!

P24: Santiago Ramos

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

Santiago Ramos moves to Van Amersfoort Racing for his second year in FIA Formula 3! The 21-year-old Mexican racing driver is driving for Van Amersfoort Racing in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish was 11th in the 2023 Formula Regional European Championship! When it comes to Formula 3, Ramos managed to score 1 Podium in his Rookie Season, but he was easily Trident’s worst driver as he ended up 16th in the Standings! The fact that Santiago Ramos has gone from driving for one of the best teams to one of the weakest is honestly why I have him to finish this low down!

P23: Joshua Dufek

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

With a better team behind him, Joshua Dufek is looking to climb up the Formula 3 Grid! The 20-year-old Austrian Swiss racing driver is driving for Hitech TGR in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish was 4th in the 2020 F4 Spanish Championship! When it comes to Formula 3, Dufek has scored 1 point in 22 Races, with his highest Championship finish being 28th last year! Given the fact that Joshua Dufek is now with a much stronger team, I would expect him to do better this year! However, Joshua was still AIX Racing’s worst driver last year, and that’s why I expect him to be Hitech’s worst this year!

P22: Bruno del Pino

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

Bruno del Pino remains with MP Motorsport as he begins his new chapter in FIA Formula 3! The 18-year-old Spanish racing driver is driving for MP Motorsport in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish was 3rd in last year’s Eurocup-3 Championship! Del Pino did well enough in Eurocup-3 last year to earn a spot in FIA Formula 3, but I find him to be the weakest of the three MP drivers!

P21: Gerrard Xie

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

Gerrard Xie could easily end up being Hitech’s main man this year! The 18-year-old Chinese racing driver is driving for Hitech TGR in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won both the 2022 Formula Renault Super Challenge and F4 Chinese Championships! I was quite torn as to where to put Gerrard Xie on this list, I could’ve easily put him higher, and he’ll definitely be in with a shot of outscoring both of his teammates!

P20: Theophile Nael

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

Theophile Nael is ready for a new adventure with Van Amersfoort Racing! The 17-year-old French racing driver is driving for Van Amersfoort Racing in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2023 F4 Spanish Championship! The worry I have with Theophile is minus that Championship win, the rest of his resume isn’t particularly impressive! However, I do rate Nael higher than his two VAR teammates!

P19: Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak joins Campos for his second year in Formula 3! The 19-year-old Thai racing driver is driving for Campos Racing in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish was 5th in the 2021 Formula 4 UAE Championship! When it comes to Formula 3, Inthraphuvasak finished 24th in his Rookie Season, but he was able to bag a P2 in Hungary (his only points-scoring finish all season)! The reason I’ve put Tasanapol up in 19th is because he’s moved to a much stronger team in Campos! However, I still expect him to be beaten by both of his teammates!

P18: Martinius Stenshorne

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

McLaren young driver Martinius Stenshorne remains in Formula 3 for a second season! The 19-year-old Norwegian racing driver is driving for Hitech TGR in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he finished as the runner-up in the 2023 Formula Regional European Championship (behind one Andrea Kimi Antonelli)! When it comes to Formula 3, Stenshorne finished 18th in his Rookie Season, but he was able to bag 2 Podiums, including a Sprint Race win in Melbourne! The fact that Martinius Stenshorne has remained with McLaren has led me to believe that there is potential in there, and that’s ultimately why I have him to be Hitech’s Number 1 this year! However, I still don’t rate Stenshorne high enough to put him any higher!

P17: Roman Bilinski

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

Roman Bilinski enters Formula 3 after his Championship success in 2024! The 21-year-old Polish British racing driver is driving for Rodin Motorsport in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won last year’s Formula Regional Oceania Championship! Rodin don’t have the greatest track record in Formula 3, but I feel like this is a good place for Roman to be! However, I do think that Bilinski is the weakest compared to his 2 teammates, so that’s why I only have him to finish 17th!

P16: Mari Boya

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

Mari Boya is set for his third year in FIA Formula 3! The 20-year-old Spanish racing driver is driving for Campos Racing in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish was second in both the 2020 F4 Spanish and 2023 Eurocup-3 Championships! When it comes to Formula 3, Boya has achieved 1 win in 2 seasons, with his highest Championship finish being P15 last year! Mari Boya has been pretty consistent in his time in Formula 3, and that’s exactly why I have him to finish P16 (after previously finishing 15th and 17th)!

P15: Laurens van Hoepen

Credit: ART Grand Prix
Credit: ART Grand Prix

Laurens van Hoepen is ready for another year competing with ART! The 19-year-old Dutch racing driver is driving for ART Grand Prix in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish was third in the 2021 Ultimate Cup Series (F3 Regional)! When it comes to Formula 3, van Hoepen finished 13th in a Rookie Season where he achieved 3 Podiums! In some ways, it feels a little harsh to have Laurens van Hoepen finish lower than he did last year! However, I think there are definitely more exciting drivers in this field, and that includes both of his teammates!

P14: Christian Ho

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

Christian Ho could be the real wildcard of FIA Formula 3 in 2025! The 18-year-old Singaporean Korean racing driver is driving for DAMS Lucas Oil in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won last year’s Eurocup-3 Championship! Christian Ho looks like a decent talent, like I could see him doing pretty well this year, hence why I have him to absolutely smash his teammates! However, I have absolutely no idea how good DAMS are going to be, so putting Ho in 14th feels like the safe move at this point!

P13: Nikola Tsolov

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

Nikola Tsolov enters his third season in Formula 3 with Red Bull backing for the first time! The 18-year-old Bulgarian racing driver is driving for Campos Racing in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2022 F4 Spanish Championship! When it comes to Formula 3, Tsolov has scored 3 Race Wins in 2 seasons, with his highest Championship finish being 11th last year! The fact that Nikola is now being backed by Red Bull is certainly an interesting one, and maybe I should’ve put him a lot higher up! However, I’ve backed Tsolov for 2 years now, and he just hasn’t delivered, so I’m not backing him this year!

P12: Noah Stromsted

Credit: Trident Motorsport
Credit: Trident Motorsport

Noah Stromsted enters Formula 3 as a Mercedes Junior Driver! The 17-year-old Danish racing driver is driving for Trident in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish was second in the 2021 F4 Danish Championship! Noah is coming into this year off the back of finishing 6th in FRECA, which isn’t bad when you consider some of the other drivers that competed in that series (we’ll get to some of them later), but he’s not someone that particularly excites me! However, the fact he’s with both Trident and Mercedes is enough for me to put Stromsted in P12!

P11: Callum Voisin

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

Callum Voisin is looking to take a step up in his second year in FIA Formula 3! The 19-year-old British Swiss racing driver is driving for Rodin Motorsport in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2023 GB3 Championship! When it comes to Formula 3, Voisin achieved 1 win in his Rookie Season as he ultimately finished 12th! Callum Voisin is a good racing driver, he will grow from his first year, but Rodin’s track record in F3 concerns me, and it’s what’s stopping me from putting him any higher!

P10: Charlie Wurz

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

Charlie Wurz has a lot to prove in his move to Trident! The 19-year-old Austrian British racing driver is driving for Trident in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2022 Formula 4 UAE and 2023 Formula Regional Oceania Championships! When it comes to Formula 3, Wurz finished 22nd in his Rookie Season, but the concerning thing is the fact that he wasn’t Jenzer’s best! In fairness to Charlie, he was at the worst team on the Grid last year, and now he’s at one of the best so he should instantly shoot up the order! However, the fact that Wurz was beaten by one of his teammates last year is a little concerning, and that’s why he’s P10 and P10 only!

P9: Louis Sharp

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

Louis Sharp looks like a really exciting young talent! The 17-year-old New Zealand racing driver is driving for Rodin Motorsport in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2023 F4 British and 2024 GB3 Championships! So far, Louis Sharp has “breezed” through the Formula 4 stage, and there are many reasons as to why he’s good enough to compete right at the front in Formula 3! However, I keep going back to Rodin, and the fact that they’ve never had a driver finish inside the Top 10 in an F3 Season is something that has to be mentioned! However, the one thing I will say is in the last 2 years, the person I’ve predicted to finish 9th has gone on and won this Championship so Louis should be thanking me!

P8: Brando Badoer

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

Brando Badoer enters Formula 3 with McLaren’s backing! The 18-year-old Italian racing driver is driving for Prema Racing in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish was 4th in this year’s Formula Regional Middle East Championship! On paper, Brando’s resume isn’t that impressive, he hadn’t won a Race until this year, and yet he’s still a McLaren Junior Driver! However, Badoer did finish 5th in a highly competitive FRECA last year, and him being with Prema automatically puts him to finish somewhere high up, even though I do expect him to be beaten by both of his teammates!

P7: Alessandro Giusti

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

Alessandro Giusti enters Formula 3 as a member of the Williams Driver Academy, and that has me excited! The 18-year-old French racing driver is driving for MP Motorsport in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2022 French F4 Championship! Alessandro also finished 4th in FRECA last year, behind 3 drivers that I’m still yet to talk about, and that combined with being associated with Williams (I know, I’m obsessed) is why I think Giusti could be in for a strong Rookie campaign!

P6: Tim Tramnitz

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

Tim Tramnitz is looking to build off a decent Rookie F3 Season! The 20-year-old German racing driver is driving for MP Motorsport in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he finished second in both the 2021 ADAC Formula 4 and Italian F4 Championships! When it comes to Formula 3, Tramnitz managed 1 win (Monza Sprint) in his Rookie Season as he ultimately came home 9th! I viewed Tim Tramnitz as a Title contender 12 months ago, and whilst I’m not as convinced this year, I still think Tim will have a good enough year that will see him beat his other two MP teammates!

P5: Ugo Ugochukwu

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

Ugo Ugochukwu has been on my radar for a while! The 17-year-old American racing driver is driving for Prema Racing in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2023 Euro 4 Championship whilst he also managed to win last year’s Macau Grand Prix! Ugo has been in McLaren’s Driver Development Programme since 2021, his performances have been strong, but he did struggle last year which is my only concern! However, Ugochukwu is with the best team, and I can see him having a similar year to what Arvid Lindblad had last year (a driver that Ugo has finished ahead of in multiple Championships)!

P4: Tuukka Taponen

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

Tuukka Taponen may well be the next “Flying Finn”! The 18-year-old Finnish racing driver is driving for ART Grand Prix in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won last year’s Formula Regional Middle East Championship! Tuukka is a part of the Ferrari Driver Academy, which is already an important thing to note, but his results have been really consistent which is very impressive at such a young age! It’s honestly a complete toss up as to who comes out as ART’s Number 1 driver this year, and whilst I haven’t backed Taponen in that department, I do expect him to have a very strong year!

P3: James Wharton

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

James Wharton enters Formula 3 looking to win immediately! The 18-year-old Australian racing driver is driving for ART Grand Prix in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won the 2023 Formula 4 UAE Championship! James has also finished second in both Euro 4 (2023) and FRECA (2024), and his talent is clear to see! Because of that, I have got Wharton to edge out his ART teammate (and rival), but I think he’ll just miss out on winning the Championship entirely!

P2: Noel Leon

Credit: FIA Formula 3
Credit: FIA Formula 3

In a field full of exciting Rookies, I have a lot of faith in Noel Leon! The 20-year-old Mexican racing driver is driving for Prema Racing in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finishes came when he won the 2019/20 NACAM Formula 4 Championship, the 2021 Formula 4 United States and NASCAR Challenge Series (Mexico) Titles, and the 2023 Euroformula Open Championship! When it comes to Formula 3, Leon managed to finish 10th in his Rookie Season, and he was miles clear of his VAR teammates! Noel Leon is very much an outlier here because unlike a lot of the other drivers I have to finish high up in these Standings, he hasn’t grown up racing in the same series together! In fact, it’s really hard to know how competitive Leon’s Championship-winning years have been, but I think finishing 10th in a Van Amersfoort Racing car is impressive, especially when you consider that Franco Colapinto finished 9th with them in his Rookie F3 Season (and we all know what he’s capable of)! There’s then the added fact of Prema always having at least 1 driver finish in the Top 3 of a Formula 3 Season, and all of that combined has made me believe that Noel will have a great year, even if picking him to win the whole thing is a bit too risky!

P1: Rafael Camara

Credit: Ferrari
Credit: Ferrari

I believe that Rafael Camara is the driver that’s going to end the year as FIA Formula 3 Champion! The 19-year-old Brazilian racing driver is driving for Trident in 2025, and his highest-ever Championship finish came when he won last year’s Formula Regional European Championship! Rafael Camara is also a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy so that instantly fills you with some confidence, and his resume is so damn impressive (he’s only failed to finish outside the Top 3 in the Championship once)! My only concern is the fact that it took Rafael two years to win FRECA, so that could suggest that he might need a year before he can win F3! However, Camara is at Trident, the team that’s won the last two Drivers’ Titles, and I just think he's the best equipped to end this year as Formula 3’s latest Champion!
