With Season 11 starting in this week, 2024 plays host to two Formula E Season Previews as it’s time to once again go over the Teams, Drivers, and Circuits that will feature this season! It’s also worth mentioning and remembering that Season 11 will see the introduction of the “Gen3 Evo” which is designed to be a bit more robust whilst also hopefully offering more grip with the new Hankook tyres! So, let’s go through the Teams and Drivers first, shall we?!
The Teams and Drivers:
Andretti Formula E
We start with one of the biggest names in the series as Andretti Formula E look to reclaim their Championship Title! Andretti have appeared in every season of Formula E, and during that time, they’ve achieved 11 Wins, 13 Poles, and 37 Podiums! In terms of their best Championship finish, that came in Season 9 (2023) when they finished third whilst in that same year, Jake Dennis went on to become Drivers’ World Champion!
When it comes to their drivers, Andretti have once again retained the services of Jake Dennis whilst they’ve also brought in Nico Muller from ABT CURPA! Jake Dennis enters 2024 after a difficult Championship-defending campaign which saw him finish 7th in the Standings with just the 1 win to his name! Jake is also entering his 5th season in the series, and so far, Dennis has achieved 6 E-Prix Victories as well as his brilliant World Championship in 2023!
As for his teammate, Nico Muller steps up from one of the worst teams on the Grid to what he hopes will be one of the best! Nico had a breakout season last year as he scored 48 points more than his ABT CUPRA teammate Lucas di Grassi in what included four Top 6 finishes to end the campaign! Muller has so far driven in 46 E-Prix’s, with his one and only Podium coming in 2021 when he finished second in Valencia!
Overall, despite only finishing 5th in the Teams’ Championship last season, with Dennis and Muller, Andretti should be aiming for the top!
DS Penske
After a much better Season 10 and a really strong driver lineup, DS Penske should be aiming for glory in 2025! The DS Penske outfit has appeared in every season of Formula E in some form (with a lot of different names though), and during that time, they’ve achieved 3 Wins, 7 Poles, and 17 Podiums! In terms of their best Championship finish, that came in Season 1 when they finished second (as Dragon Racing)!
When it comes to their drivers, DS Penske have retained the services of Jean-Eric Vergne for another year whilst they’ve gone out and brought Maximilian Gunther in! Jean-Eric Vergne had another good season last year to end up 5th in the Championship, but he was lacking a Race victory! Vergne is also a veteran of the series, having raced in every season, and during that time, JEV has achieved 13 E-Prix Victories whilst he’s also the only 2-time Formula E Champion!
As for his teammate, Maximilian Gunther is hoping this move from Maserati to Penske will fully showcase his talents at the front! After starting the year well, Season 10 went in a bit of the wrong direction for Max Gunther, finishing only 8th in the Standings with just 73 points. However, Max was miles clear of his teammate Jehan Daruvala! Gunther is also about to enter his 7th year in Formula E, and during that time, he’s achieved 5 E-Prix Wins including that iconic one for Maserati in Jakarta!
Overall, DS Penske did really well to finish third in the Teams’ Championship last season given they didn’t even win a single Race, but it’s worth mentioning that they were a long way back from the Top 2 teams. However, with Vergne and Gunther in their cars, DS should at the very least be aiming to be an awful lot closer!
Envision Racing
Envision Racing enter Season 11 hoping for a much better campaign! The Envision Racing team has been in Formula E since the very start (even though they were originally called Virgin Racing), and during that time, they’ve achieved 16 Wins, 15 Poles, and 53 Podiums! In terms of their best Championship finish, that came in 2023 when they were crowned as Season 9’s Teams’ Champions!
When it comes to their drivers, Envision have decided to stick with the pairing of Robin Frijns and Sebastien Buemi! Robin Frijns did alright last season to finish 9th in the Standings, and it’s worth mentioning that he finished 2nd three times! Robin has driven in 102 E-Prix’s over 8 seasons, and during that time, Frijns has managed to achieve 2 Wins (both in 2019)!
As for his teammate, Sebastien Buemi will be hoping to come out on top as the main man at Envision! Sebastien didn’t exactly have the best season last time out as he could only score 53 points on his way to 11th in the Standings. However, Seb was at least able to score 2 Podiums (with a P2 in the season opener being his best result)! Buemi is another driver that’s driven in every season of Formula E, and during that time, he’s managed to win 13 times whilst he was also crowned Champion in Season 2!
Overall, Envision Racing are a difficult team to judge and get a feeling for where they might be this season, but given they were Champions in Season 9, they should at the very least be higher than P6!
Jaguar TCS Racing
The reigning Teams' Champions Jaguar TCS Racing are hoping that Season 11 ends with them holding both Titles aloft! Jaguar have been involved in Formula E since Season 3, and during that time, they’ve achieved 16 Wins, 11 Poles, and 46 Podiums! In terms of their best Championship finish, that came last season when they became Teams’ Champions!
When it comes to their drivers, Jaguar have retained the incredibly talented duo of Mitch Evans and Nick Cassidy! Mitch Evans once again showcased his talent last season, but missing the Attack Mode Activation ultimately saw Mitch miss out on the Formula E Title once again! Evans has raced in Formula E for 8 seasons now, and during that time, he’s managed to win 11 times!
As for his teammate, Nick Cassidy is hoping to right the wrong and end 2025 as a World Champion! Nick was really good last season, but his horrible final two weekends in Portland and London saw him go from basically Champion-elect to not even finishing as the Runner-up! Cassidy is about to enter his 5th season in the series, and during his time so far, Nick has achieved 7 E-Prix Victories!
Overall, Jaguar TCS Racing really should’ve won both Championships last season, and they have to make sure they deliver this time around!
Kiro Race Co
After just 1 year of being known as ERT, the biggest underdogs on the Formula E Grid are now known as Kiro Race Co! The Kiro team have been racing in Formula E since the beginning (under plenty of different names), and during that time, they’ve achieved 2 Wins, 2 Poles, and 6 Podiums! In terms of their best Championship finish, that came when they finished 4th all the way back in Season 1 (when they were known as China Racing)!
When it comes to their drivers, Dan Ticktum is sticking around for yet another rebrand whilst David Beckmann is getting his chance to show what he can do! Dan Ticktum had a pretty disappointing 2024 Season, scoring just the 1-points finish (P4 in Misano) on his way to 19th in the Standings! Ticktum has also been in Formula E for 3 years, and during that time, he’s scored 41 points!
As for his teammate, David Beckmann is hoping to have a positive Rookie Season! David has completed in lots of different racing series over the years, and he is a multiple-time winner in GP/Formula 3! Beckmann also isn’t a stranger to Formula E after driving 2 Races for Andretti in 2023!
Overall, whilst they might have a different name, there’s really no reason to believe that Kiro Race Co will go any better in Season 11!
Lola Yamaha ABT
With CUPRA now out of the sport, Lola-Yamaha and ABT unite to try and become one of the big boys in all-electric racing! ABT have been a part of every season in Formula E minus Season 8 (7 years with Audi, 2 with CUPRA), and during that time, they’ve achieved 14 Wins, 6 Poles, and 47 Podiums! In terms of their best Championship finish, that came in Season 4 when they won the Teams’ Championship whilst Lucas di Grassi also became Drivers Champion with them back in 2017 (Season 3)!
When it comes to their drivers, Lucas di Grassi has remained with the team for another year whilst they’ve also given an opportunity to (Rookie) Zane Maloney! Lucas di Grassi really struggled last season, being absolutely smashed by his teammate Nico Muller in a year that saw him end up 23rd in the Standings! However, Lucas has been in Formula E since the very beginning, and during that time, di Grassi has won 13 E-Prix’s whilst also being crowned as the Season 3 Champion!
As for his teammate, Zane Maloney enters Formula E hoping to grab the headlines! Zane has had a good Junior Career, winning the F4 British Championship in 2019, and finishing second in FIA Formula 3 in 2022! It’s also worth mentioning that Maloney is currently 4th in Formula 2, but the Barbadian driver won’t compete in the Season Finale in Abu Dhabi!
Overall, Lola Yamaha ABT have pressure to deliver as a new team, but expectations should still be low given how much they’ve struggled in recent years. However, Lucas di Grassi will always have expectations on him whilst Zane Maloney will be exciting to watch!
Mahindra Racing
After a horrible couple of years, Mahindra Racing need something to change and fast! Mahindra have competed in every season of Formula E, and during that time, they’ve taken 5 Wins, 11 Poles, and 24 Podiums! In terms of their best Championship finish, that came in Season 3 where they finished third!
When it comes to their drivers, Mahindra have decided to stick with the experienced pairing of Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara! Nyck de Vries had a difficult first season back earlier this year, finishing only 18th in the Standings with just the two points-scoring finishes to his name! Nyck is about to enter his 5th season in Formula E, and during his time so far, de Vries has won 4 Races whilst he was also crowned the inaugural FE World Champion back in Season 7!
As for his teammate, Edoardo Mortara is hoping to be further up the Grid this time around! Edo Mortara only managed to finish in the points three times in the entirety of Season 10, but he could at least take the positive that he was Mahindra’s top scorer! Mortara has driven in 95 E-Prix’s, and during that time, he’s managed 6 wins!
Overall, Mahindra Racing have a strong driver line-up, but there’s only so much that de Vries and Mortara can do if the car simply isn’t quick enough!
Maserati MSG Racing
Maserati MSG Racing mean business in Season 11 with a brand-new driver line-up! The Maserati MSG team has been in Formula E since the start (originally known as Venturi for 8 Seasons), and during that time, they’ve achieved 10 Wins, 5 Poles, and 27 Podiums! In terms of their best Championship finish, that came in Season 8 (2022) when they finished as the Runners-up in the Teams’ Championship!
When it comes to their drivers, Maserati have gone with a completely new line-up in the form of Stoffel Vandoorne and Jake Hughes! Stoffel Vandoorne had another average season at DS Penske last year, finishing 10th in the Championship with just the 1 Podium to his name (P3 in Monaco). Stoffel has been in Formula E since Season 5 now, and during that time, Vandoorne has achieved 3 Wins and he was also crowned as the ABB FIA Formula E World Champion of Season 8!
As for his teammate, Jake Hughes is looking for a fresh start after a couple of years with NEOM McLaren! Jake didn’t really have a good or bad 2024 Season, and funnily enough, he matched his points total from his Rookie Season (48)! During the two years Hughes has raced in Formula E so far, he’s managed to appear on the Podium once (Shanghai 2024), but he has achieved 4 Pole Positions which tells you that the pace is there!
Overall, Maserati MSG Racing were not at all happy with finishing 8th in the Teams’ Championship last season, but with a new driver pairing of Vandoorne and Hughes, the hope for the Monegasque team is to climb their way back up the Grid!
NEOM McLaren
With an experienced hand and a Rookie at the wheel, Season 11 could be a very interesting story for NEOM McLaren! The NEOM McLaren team (formerly known as HWA Racelab and Mercedes-EQ) have competed in Formula E since Season 5, and during that time, they’ve achieved 8 Wins, 13 Poles, and 26 Podiums! In terms of their best Championship finish, that came when they won the Teams’ Championship in both 2021 and 2022 whilst drivers Nyck de Vries and Stoffel Vandoorne were crowned World Drivers’ Champions respectively!
When it comes to their drivers, McLaren have retained the services of Sam Bird whilst they’ve also brought in Rookie Taylor Barnard! Sam Bird did brilliantly well to take McLaren’s first-ever Formula E victory in Sao Paulo back in March, but after that his season went pretty terribly as he ended up finishing 13th in the Standings! Sam is a driver that’s competed in every season of Formula E, and during that time, Bird has achieved 12 Wins!
As for his teammate, Taylor Barnard steps up after impressing in a substitute appearance in Monaco earlier this year! Taylor is a promising young driver that I rate a lot, he’s managed wins in both FIA Formula 3 and Formula 2 (with the worst teams on the Grid by the way) whilst he’s also ended as Runner-up in both ADAC Formula 4 and the Formula Regional Middle East Championship behind a kid called Andrea Kimi Antonelli (I wonder what that guy’s doing next year)!
Overall, NEOM McLaren have been pretty disappointing since they took over from Mercedes in 2023, but there should be more optimism heading into Season 11, especially with their new Rookie!
Nissan Formula E Team
After their best season since 2020, Nissan Formula E Team are looking to rise even higher in 2025! The Nissan team have competed in every season of Formula E (originally as Renault e.dams), and during that time, they’ve achieved 19 Wins, 24 Poles, and 47 Podiums! In terms of their best Championship finish, that came when they won the Teams’ Championship in Season 1, 2, and 3 whilst Sebastien Buemi was also crowned Drivers’ Champion for them in 2016 (Season 2)!
When it comes to their drivers, Nissan have retained Oliver Rowland for another year whilst they’ve also brought back Norman Nato! Oliver Rowland had a terrific Season 10, proving a bunch of people wrong to take 2 wins on his way to 4th in the Championship! Oliver has driven in 78 Races in Formula E over 7 Seasons, and during that time, Rowland has achieved 3 E-Prix Victories!
As for his teammate, Norman Nato returns to Nissan after a disappointing year with Andretti! Last season wasn’t a very good one for Norman as he could only score 1 Podium finish on his way to just 15th in the Standings! Nato has driven in 49 Races in his Formula E career so far, and during that time, his one and only win came at Berlin in the Season Finale of Season 7 (2021)!
Overall, if Oliver Rowland drives like he did last year and Norman Nato finds his best form again, Nissan Formula E Team could be in for a great season! However, neither of these things are guaranteed one bit!
TAG Heuer Porsche
Home of the reigning Drivers’ World Champion, TAG Heuer Porsche are hoping to leave London next year with more than one Title! TAG Heuer Porsche have been in Formula E for 5 seasons now, and during that time, they’ve achieved 12 Wins, 6 Poles, and 22 Podiums! In terms of their best Championship finish, that came last season when they finished second in the Teams’ Championship whilst Pascal Wehrlein ended the campaign as Drivers’ Champion!
When it comes to their drivers, Porsche have retained the services of Pascal Wehrlein and Antonio Felix da Costa for the third-straight season! Pascal Wehrlein was the class of the field last season, scoring 3 wins on his way to being crowned the new ABB FIA Formula E World Champion! Pascal has been in Formula E for six seasons now, and during that time, he’s achieved 7 Wins and of course 1 Championship Title!
As for his teammate, Antonio Felix da Costa is hoping that his form from the second half of Season 10 will show up all season long! Antonio had a horrible start to Season 10, with a Disqualification after his win in Misano not helping, but he did end the season with 4 Wins in the last 7 Races so he still ended up 6th in the Championship! Da Costa is a driver that has competed in Formula E since the very first Race, and during that time, he’s achieved 12 Wins whilst he was also crowned Champion of Season 6 (2020)!
Overall, TAG Heuer Porsche have the drivers and car to win both Championships this season. But whether they can tie everything together will be the ultimate test!

Round 5: Miami (12th April)
A somewhat returning venue for Formula E as Miami returns to the Calendar at a different circuit! Formula E raced in Miami in its inaugural season, with Nico Prost taking the victory, but this year, FE will be racing on the Road Course of the Homestead-Miami Speedway! It certainly looks like an interesting layout, it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out!
Round 6 and 7: Monaco (3rd/4th May)
Formula E is giving me a Birthday Weekend treat by hosting not 1, but 2 Monaco E-Prix’s! Formula E use the traditional 3.337km (2.047 Miles) Circuit which features 19 corners! Another newcomer in Season 10, Shanghai is back for more! There were 2 E-Prix’s last season, with Mitch Evans winning the inaugural Race whilst Antonio Felix da Costa won the second!
Round 12: Jakarta (21st June)
After being removed from the Calendar in Season 10, it’s lovely to say that Formula E are heading back to Jakarta! One of the best Formula E Weekend’s of the year takes place on the 12th and the 13th of July in Berlin! The Tempelhof Airport Street Circuit is 2.343km (1.460 Miles) long and it features 15 corners! In total, there have been 20 Berlin E-Prix’s, with Jerome d’Ambrosio winning the inaugural Race whilst Antonio Felix da Costa won it last year! In terms of repeat winners, Sebastien Buemi, Lucas di Grassi, and Nick Cassidy have all won it twice whilst da Costa has notched up 3 victories around the streets of Berlin!
Round 15 and 16: London (26th/27th July)
Like the last couple of years, the final weekend of Season 11 of ABB FIA Formula E will take place around the ExCeL Centre in London! The ExCeL London Circuit is 2.09km (1.30 Miles) long and it features 20 corners! In total, there have been 12 London E-Prix’s, with Sebastien Buemi winning the inaugural Race whilst Oliver Rowland is the most recent winner! In terms of repeat winners, Nico Prost won both times in 2016 whilst Jake Dennis is well known for being the “King of the ExCeL”!
