Qualifying for Round 10 saw the drivers head to Spain for a critical Qualifying Session around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Q1
In Qualifying 1; Kevin Magnussen, Yuki Tsunoda, Daniel Ricciardo, Alex Albon, and Logan Sargeant were the five slowest drivers. Kevin Magnussen will be slightly frustrated with a Q1 exit given he wasn’t too far off making it through whilst Visa Cash App RB had a pretty shocking day as both Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo were eliminated! It was also a pretty bad day for Williams as Alex Albon could only managed P19 whilst teammate Logan Sargeant will start last after a pretty poor outing. It was Lewis Hamilton who topped Q1 for Mercedes, just a tenth ahead of the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc.
Q2
In Qualifying 2; Fernando Alonso, Valtteri Bottas, Nico Hulkenberg, Lance Stroll, and Zhou Guanyu all failed to make it into the Top 10 shootout. Fernando Alonso will be disappointed with this result considering this is his home Race (he was also super close to making it into Q3) whilst Valtteri Bottas should be really pleased with a P12 for Kick Sauber! Nico Hulkenberg will be satisfied with 13th for Haas whilst Lance Stroll will be disappointed with only 14th. Zhou Guanyu was comfortably the slowest man in Q2, but he made it so that’s a positive! It was Max Verstappen who topped Q2 with Lewis Hamilton again going strong in second.
Q3
In Qualifying 3, a 1:11.383 was enough for Lando Norris to take a splendid Pole Position! Lando did a terrific job today and he fully merits being P1! Max Verstappen will have to settle for second after coming within 2 hundredths of Pole whilst Lewis Hamilton pipped Mercedes teammate George Russell to third by just 2 thousandths! Ferrari will start from 5th and 6th after Charles Leclerc narrowly beat Carlos Sainz (by 5 thousandths) whilst Pierre Gasly did an incredible job to get his Alpine into P7! Sergio Perez qualified 8th, but he will take a 3-place Grid penalty for tomorrow’s Race promoting Esteban Ocon to a great P8 whilst Oscar Piastri failed to get a lap time on the board after making a costly error towards the end!
