Given how difficult it is to overtake around the Marina Bay Street Circuit, Qualifying under the lights was even more important than usual to set up the Grid for tomorrow’s Singapore Grand Prix!
Q1
In Qualifying 1; Daniel Ricciardo, Lance Stroll, Pierre Gasly, Valtteri Bottas, and Zhou Guanyu were the five slowest drivers. Daniel Ricciardo will be gutted to have been knocked out in Q1 after looking strong in Practice whilst Lance Stroll was completely nowhere for Aston Martin! Pierre Gasly also had a very disappointing day in his Alpine whilst Valtteri Bottas put (nearly) 5 tenths on his teammate Zhou Guanyu as Kick Sauber’s woes continued! Lando Norris topped Q1 for McLaren, just a tenth and a half ahead of Max Verstappen.
Q2
In Qualifying 2; Alex Albon, Franco Colapinto, Sergio Perez, Kevin Magnussen, and Esteban Ocon all failed to make it into the Top 10 Shootout. Williams were unlucky to miss out on Q3, with Alex Albon barely missing out whilst Franco Colapinto ended up just 7 thousandths off of his teammate! Sergio Perez was nowhere for Red Bull, some 9-tenths off his teammate whilst Kevin Magnussen beat Esteban Ocon to P14. McLaren remained on top in Q2, but this time with Oscar Piastri as Max Verstappen remained in second place!
Q3
In Qualifying 3; a 1:29.525 was enough for Lando Norris to take an important Pole Position! Lando was clearly the quickest guy on track today, and he’s definetly the favourite to win tomorrow! Max Verstappen did his best to take second place for Red Bull whilst Mercedes ended up having a good day with Lewis Hamilton ahead of George Russell. Oscar Piastri will be disappointed with his final sector that resulted in him settling for 5th whilst Nico Hulkenberg did a sensational job to take P6 for Haas! Fernando Alonso can be pleased with 7th, as can Yuki Tsunoda with 8th whilst Ferrari ended up having a terrible final Qualifying Session with Charles Leclerc getting his one and only lap time deleted whilst Carlos Sainz found the wall at the final corner!
