The best Saturday of the year took place as it was Qualifying time in Monte Carlo for the Monaco Grand Prix!
Q1
In Qualifying 1; Fernando Alonso, Logan Sargeant, Sergio Perez, Valtteri Bottas, and Zhou Guanyu were the five slowest drivers. Fernando Alonso was looking great at the early parts of Q1, and it’s ultimately resulted in another abysmal afternoon for the 2-time World Champion! Logan Sargeant managed 17th, but he was still some 4 tenths behind his teammate whilst Sergio Perez will start 18th after an absolutely shambolic performance! I cannot deal with Checo being useless again! Speaking of useless, Kick Sauber were absolutely nowhere today, with Valtteri Bottas out-qualifying Zhou Guanyu. George Russell managed to top Q1 for Mercedes, just 8 thousandths of a second ahead of the McLaren of Oscar Piastri.
Q2
In Qualifying 2; Esteban Ocon, Nico Hulkenberg, Daniel Ricciardo, Lance Stroll, and Kevin Magnussen all failed to make it into the Top 10 shootout. Esteban Ocon will have very mixed feelings over his Qualifying session whilst Nico Hulkenberg will probably be disappointed with “only” 12th for Haas. Daniel Ricciardo will start 13th for Visa Cash App RB whilst Lance Stroll had a difficult day, but at least he was able to out-qualify his Aston Martin teammate for the 4th time in May! Kevin Magnussen ended up slowest in Q2 despite looking pretty good in Q1! Lando Norris managed to top Q2, just 13 thousandths ahead of Max Verstappen who was entering the fray.
Q3
In Qualifying 3; a 1:10.270 was enough for Charles Leclerc to take a massive Pole Position! Charles has been on it all weekend, and it’s now up to him (and Ferrari) to finally bring it home to a Home Race Victory! Oscar Piastri did a great job to get his McLaren into second once again whilst Carlos Sainz will start third in the other Ferrari. Lando Norris managed to pip an impressive George Russell (by just 1 thousandth of a second) to P4 whilst Max Verstappen will start 6th after a pretty tough day (which included hitting the wall at Saint Devote)! Lewis Hamilton could only manage 7th in his Mercedes whilst Yuki Tsunoda did another splendid job to get VCARB another spot in the Top 8! Alex Albon will start 9th after a really positive day for Williams whilst Pierre Gasly will be pleased with a Top 10 start!
