On a tricky circuit, it was up to the drivers to nail a lap in order to put themselves in the best position for the Mexico City Grand Prix!
Q1
In Qualifying 1; Franco Colapinto, Oscar Piastri, Sergio Perez, Esteban Ocon, and Zhou Guanyu were the five slowest drivers! Franco Colapinto will be disappointed to be a way off his Williams teammate, but he certainly won’t be more disappointed than Oscar Piastri who had an absolute shocker in his McLaren! Another man to have a shocker was Sergio Perez as Checo didn’t exactly wow his home crowd whilst Esteban Ocon and Zhou Guanyu locked out the back row after really struggling for pace themselves! Lando Norris comfortably topped Q1 for McLaren, a few tenths ahead of the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz!
Q2
In Qualifying 2; Yuki Tsunoda, Liam Lawson, Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll, and Valtteri Bottas all failed to make it into the Top 10 shootout! Yuki Tsunoda was looking pretty quick up until his crash at Turn 12, and this actually brought out the Red Flag which saw him stay ahead of his Visa Cash App RB teammate Liam Lawson! The Red Flag also meant Aston Martin had to settle for another 7th Row lockout with Fernando Alonso ahead of Lance Stroll whilst Valtteri Bottas deserves some praise for getting his Kick Sauber into Q2 for the first time since Belgium! Lando Norris once again topped Q2, this time ahead of Championship Rival Max Verstappen!
Q3
In Qualifying 3, a sensational 1:15.946 was enough for Carlos Sainz to take one of the best Pole Positions of the year! Carlos is so unbelievably rapid, but the fact that both of his laps were good enough for Pole is just amazing! Max Verstappen did a great job to get his Red Bull into second, ahead of Lando Norris (who will most likely be quite happy with starting P3) whilst Charles Leclerc could only manage 4th in the other Ferrari! Mercedes locked out the third row with George Russell some 3 tenths clear of Lewis Hamilton whilst Kevin Magnussen did a terrific job to end up best of the rest in P7! Pierre Gasly was only 6 thousandths of a second behind in P8 whilst Alex Albon bounced back well to take 9th, and Nico Hulkenberg will start 10th after a disappointing final run!
