Friday Night Qualifying returned in Vegas as the teams and drivers looked to pull out a lap around the tricky 6.2km Circuit!
Q1
In Qualifying 1; Sergio Perez, Fernando Alonso, Alex Albon, Valtteri Bottas, and Lance Stroll were the five slowest drivers! Sergio Perez continued his crap run of form with a terrible Q1 elimination whilst Fernando Alonso didn’t do much better as Aston Martin’s lack of pace continued! Alex Albon had a bit of a shocker to be nearly 7 tenths behind his Williams teammate whilst Valtteri Bottas probably put in his worst performance of the season (certainly in my opinion anyway)! A technical issue in FP3 ultimately saw Lance Stroll qualify last, but his actual lap was pretty decent when you consider everything! It was a Mercedes 1-2 in the first part of Qualifying with George Russell heading Lewis Hamilton!
Q2
In Qualifying 2; Esteban Ocon, Kevin Magnussen, Zhou Guanyu, Franco Colapinto, and Liam Lawson all failed to make it into the Top 10 shootout! Esteban Ocon will be disappointed with P11 given where his teammate ended up whilst Kevin Magnussen will have mixed feelings over P12! Zhou Guanyu did a really good job to get P13 for Kick Sauber, currently ahead of Franco Colapinto who had another big crash in his Williams! I like Franco, but he can’t keep making these mistakes/getting involved in incidents! Liam Lawson also had something happen which meant he could only manage 15th, which isn’t particularly great! Lewis Hamilton topped Q2 this time, ahead of the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz!
Q3
In Qualifying 3, a 1:32.312 was enough for George Russell to take a terrific Pole Position for Mercedes! I’ve said plenty of times that George Russell has been on it this year, and this was just another example of that! Let’s see if George can deliver tomorrow though! Carlos Sainz did a terrific job himself to take P2, ahead of the Alpine of Pierre Gasly! Honestly, Pierre was sensational here, and as always, pink makes you faster! Anyway, Charles Leclerc was well off his teammate in 4th and he will start ahead of Max Verstappen who did a decent job whilst Lando Norris will start 6th after struggling for McLaren! Yuki Tsunda did another brilliant job to take P7 in his VCARB, ahead of the other McLaren of Oscar Piastri, whilst Nico Hulkenberg will start 9th after another strong showing for Haas whilst Lewis Hamilton could only manage P10! I just don’t understand what Lewis is doing anymore, he has to do better!
