2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix Preview: 5 Big Talking Points Heading into the Weekend

One Last Triple Header

For the final time in 2024, a Triple Header will take place, starting in Las Vegas, going through Qatar, and ending in Abu Dhabi as the curtain closes on what has been a fascinating 2024 Formula 1 Season! Over the next few weeks, Championships will be decided, key places in the Constructors’ will be up for grabs, teammate battles will be settled, and some drivers will either say farewell to their current teams or maybe to the F1 Circus in general! Either way, it should be very exciting, and hey, all 3 Grand Prix’s are under the lights which automatically makes it better!

Some Special Vegas Liveries

With Las Vegas being seen as an important weekend on the Formula 1 Calendar, it wasn’t a surprise to see certain teams running a special livery. Firstly, Kick Sauber announced a special livery which retains their iconic green and black colour scheme, but with a nice pattern on it! Not only would I recommend you look this up for yourself, but honestly, it just reminds me of the ghost from Ghostbusters! From the lowest-scoring team in Sao Paulo to the highest-scoring team in Sao Paulo, Alpine are turning into “Alpink” with a beautiful pink livery! Given my favourite-ever Formula 1 livery is the 2020 Racing Point, I think this is absolutely magnificent! Oh, and that’s not all as Visa Cash APP RB have released their own funky livery which contains a lot of green, and also makes me think we’re in space! It’s cool, but I’m a little bit worried for VCARB given the colour they’ve decided to use!

Can Carlos Sainz Score Redemption?

Carlos Sainz has always been a consistent driver, and he’s arguably been even more consistent this year! However, Las Vegas last year was a really tough one to take for Carlos as a lose drain shattered Sainz’s Ferrari in FP1, ultimately resulting in the Spaniard taking a Grid penalty which cost him a shot at the win (he was second in Qualifying)! So, with redemption in sight, I wouldn’t rule Carlos out of another Race Victory!

Williams Need to Bounce Back!

The 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix weekend proved to be a bit of a killer for Williams as the team suffered an awful lot of damage following big shunts for both Alex Albon and Franco Colapinto, and perhaps worst of all, Alpine’s double Podium saw the iconic British team drop down to 9th in the Constructors’ Championship, and unless something insane happens, that’s where Williams are destined to end up. However, despite this, it’s still important for Williams to have a much stronger weekend and score some good points, mostly for the mechanics who had to do a ridiculous amount of work last time out!

Is this Max Verstappen’s Crowning Weekend?

At the start of 2024, it was widely expected that Max Verstappen would dominate the 2024 Season, but between Austria and Mexico City, people were very much believing in a potential Championship fight between Max and McLaren’s Lando Norris. However, after a sensational 17th-to-1st victory in Sao Paulo, Verstappen now leads Norris by 62 points with just 3 Rounds to go! So, because of this, there’s a chance for The Dutchman to become a 4-time World Champion this weekend, and as long as he beats Lando, that statement will become a reality! However, for Lando to keep his Championship hopes alive, he needs to outscore Max by 3 points (the gap between P2 and P3, for example)! I can tell you this, if Max Verstappen does with his 4th-straight Title this weekend, Vegas is going to be even more insane than usual!
