After a quiet Summer Break, it was time to get going again with an important Qualifying Session at Zandvoort!
Q1
In Qualifying 1; Daniel Ricciardo, Esteban Ocon, Valtteri Bottas, Zhou Guanyu, and Logan Sargeant were the five slowest drivers! Daniel Ricciardo will be disappointed with his lack of pace in the Visa Cash App RB whilst Esteban Ocon will be very disappointed with his afternoon’s efforts! Kick Sauber were once again the slowest team, with Valtteri Bottas miles ahead of Zhou Guanyu whilst Logan Sargeant was unable to go out for a lap after smashing his car up in FP3! Red Bull topped Q1, but with Sergio Perez as he headed the Mercedes of George Russell!
Q2
In Qualifying 2; Carlos Sainz, Lewis Hamilton, Yuki Tsunoda, Nico Hulkenberg, and Kevin Magnussen all failed to make it into the Top 10 shootout! Carlos Sainz just struggled throughout this Qualifying session, but Lewis Hamilton getting knocked out was definitely a big surprise! Yuki Tsunoda got the maximum out of his VCARB in P13 whilst Nico Hulkenberg headed Haas teammate Kevin Magnussen at the rear of the Q2 field. It was a McLaren 1-2 in Q2, with Lando Norris just 9 thousandths ahead of Oscar Piastri!
Q3
In Qualifying 3, a massive 1:09.673 was more than enough for Lando Norris to take a superb Pole Position! Fair play to Lando because he smashed this, and it’s now up to him to finish the job off tomorrow! Max Verstappen will have to settle for P2 after a strong effort whilst Oscar Piastri will be disappointed with P3 (given he’s pretty much 5 tenths off his teammate). George Russell did well to get 4th for Mercedes, ahead of the other Red Bull of Sergio Perez (who was still miles behind Max) whilst Charles Leclerc could only manage 6th for Ferrari! Fernando Alonso will be pleased with P7, Alex Albon will be delighted with P8 after a terrific lap, Lance Stroll will have mixed feelings with P9 in the other Aston Martin whilst Pierre Gasly did well to make it to Q3 for Alpine!
