2024/25 Premier League Roundup: Gameweek 25

Manchester City 4-0 Newcastle

Omar Marmoush fired in his first Manchester City hat-trick as City thumped Newcastle United! After 19 minutes, Manchester City had the lead as Omar Marmoush scored his first goal for the club with a lovely dink following another assist from Ederson! Just 5 minutes later, and it was 2-0 as Marmoush scored again following a slight deflection off Kieran Trippier! Savinho then had a great chance to score which he poorly struck straight at Martin Dubravka before Alexander Isak had a good chance which deflected just wide! In the 33rd minute, it was 3-0 to Man City as Omar Marmoush completed his hat-trick with a coolly taken finish! And then, in the 84th minute, James McAtee tapped home from close range to put the icing on a terrific City cake! Overall, this was much better from Manchester City! City rise to 4th in the league and they face a massive week ahead as they go to Real Madrid on Wednesday before they host Liverpool on Sunday! As for Newcastle United, this was a horrible result for them! The Magpies drop to 7th in the table and they host Nottingham Forest next time out!

 


Southampton 1-3 Bournemouth

After just 14 minutes, Bournemouth had the lead as Dango Ouattara headed home after a terrific ball in from Ryan Christie! Just 2 minutes later, and Christie was at it again as he fired the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-0 after just 16 minutes of action! Aaron Ramsdale then made a decent save to deny Ouattara a second before Ramsdale made another good save, this time to keep Antoine Semenyo’s effort out! In the 72nd minute, Southampton had a goal back as Kamaldeen Sulemana finished well before Marcus Tavernier fired one home in the 83rd minute to seal all 3 points for the visitors! In the end, it’s another defeat for Southampton! The Saints remain bottom of the league and they host Brighton next time out! As for AFC Bournemouth, they did well to not slip up here! The Cherries rise to 5th in the table and they face Wolves in their next fixture!

 


Brighton 3-0 Chelsea

Brighton and Hove Albion made it back-to-back wins over Chelsea with a 3-0 thrashing! Cole Palmer had a decent chance to score which he made an absolute mess of before Kaoru Mitoma gave Brighton the lead in the 27th minute with a terrific touch and finish! Enzo Fernandez then had a goal ruled out for a foul in the build up before Yankuba Minteh eventually managed to find the back of the net to double Brighton’s lead in the 38th! In the 63rd minute, it was 3-0 to the hosts as Minteh scored again before Joel Veltman hit the post! Overall, this is a terrific win for Brighton and Hove Albion! The Seagulls remain 10th in the table and they go to Southampton next time out! As for Chelsea, what an awful performance from them! The Blues drop to 6th in the league and their next game is a big one away at Aston Villa!

 


Liverpool 2-1 Wolves

After just 15 minutes, Liverpool had the lead as Luis Diaz managed to tumble the ball over the line! Liverpool were then awarded a penalty after Jose Sa brought down Diaz, and it was Mohamed Salah who stepped up and scored to make it 2-0 after 37! Ibrahima Konate was then fortunate to not receive a second Yellow Card before Marshall Munetsi had a great chance which was saved by Alisson! Liverpool were then awarded another penalty, but that decision was overturned by VAR after a clear dive by Diogo Jota before Wolves had one back in the 67th minute thanks to a great finish from Matheus Cunha! Wolves then had a great chance to equalise, but they were denied by a terrific challenge by Jarell Quansah! Overall, it’s a win for Liverpool which is all that matters! The Reds remain top of the league and they face a big week away at both Aston Villa and Manchester City! As for Wolverhampton Wanderers, they could’ve gotten something from this game! Wolves remain 17th in the table and they go to Bournemouth next time out!

 


Fulham 2-1 Nottingham Forest

Fulham picked up a great home win as Nottingham Forest suffered their second-straight away defeat (in the league)! After just 15 minutes, Fulham had the lead as Emile Smith Rowe headed home after a great ball in from Adama Traore! Raul Jimenez then had a decent opportunity which was easily saved by Matz Sels before Sels denied Jimenez again (albeit this effort was a lot better)! In the 37th minute, the game was all square as Chris Wood’s effort found the back of the net thanks to a deflection off Calvin Bassey! Speaking of Bassey, in the 62nd minute, Fulham retook the lead as Calvin Bassey headed home well! Adama Traore then had a great opportunity to score which he struck straight at Matz Sels, but it ultimately didn’t affect the outcome! Overall, this is a strong win for Fulham! The Cottagers rise to 8th in the table and they host Crystal Palace next time out! As for Nottingham Forest, it’s another defeat for them! Forest remain third in the league and their next game is a big one away at Newcastle!

 


Crystal Palace 1-2 Everton

Jean-Philippe Mateta had a great chance to give Crystal Palace the lead early on which he poorly struck straight at Jordan Pickford before Pickford made another save, this time to deny Marc Guehi! Jefferson Lerma then thought he’d fired Crystal Palace in front with a great-headed effort, but the goal was ruled out due to the ball already going out of play from the corner! Ismaila Sarr then had a great opportunity to score which he blasted onto the crossbar before Everton had the lead in the 42nd minute through Beto! Just 2 minutes into the Second Half, and Crystal Palace were back on level terms as Jean-Philippe Mateta wasn’t going to miss this time! Beto then had another chance to score which he struck straight at Dean Henderson before Everton retook the lead in the 80th minute courtesy of Carlos Alcaraz! In the end, this is a poor result for Crystal Palace! The Eagles drop to 13th in the league and they head to Fulham next time out! As for Everton, this is a great win for them! The Toffees rise to 14th in the table and they host Manchester United on Saturday!

 


Leicester 0-2 Arsenal

Wilfred Ndidi had a decent chance before Halftime which he headed wide before Ethan Nwaneri smashed the post! In the 81st minute, Arsenal finally had the lead as Mikel Merino headed home before, in the 87th minute, Merino fired home again to secure all 3 points for the visitors! In the end, Leicester City just couldn’t quite hold on here! The Foxes remain inside the Relegation Zone (now in 19th) and they host Brentford on Friday Night! As for Arsenal, they managed to get over the line here (which is actually really important)! The Gunners stay second in the league and they host West Ham next time out!

 


Aston Villa 1-1 Ipswich

Despite being down to 10 men, Ipswich Town were able to pick up a very valuable away at a frustrating Aston Villa! Ollie Watkins had a great chance to give Aston Villa the lead which he poorly put wide before Axel Tuanzebe was sent off in the 40th minute after receiving a second Yellow Card! Alex Palmer then pulled out a great save to somehow stop Morgan Rogers from scoring before Ipswich had the surprise lead in the 56th minute through Liam Delap! In the 69th minute, after Marcus Rashford’s free-kick came firing back off the crossbar, Aston Villa were level as Ollie Watkins was there to tap home on the rebound! Villa then had multiple chances to win the game, but they just couldn’t get the ball past a brilliant Alex Palmer! In the end, this is definitely 2 points dropped for Aston Villa! Villa drop to 9th in the table and they have a massive week upcoming with home games against both Liverpool and Chelsea! As for Ipswich Town, this  was a valiant effort from them! The Tractor Boys remain inside the Relegation Zone (now in 18th) and they host Tottenham next time out!

 


Tottenham 1-0 Manchester United

In the battle of 2 poor teams, it was Tottenham Hotspur who managed to edge out Manchester United! Manchester United had multiple chances to score early on which were saved by Guglielmo Vicario before Tottenham had the lead in the 13th minute through James Maddison! Honestly, this is such a poor goal to concede from a Man United point of view! Alejandro Garnacho then had a great chance to score which he poorly blasted well over the bar before Garnacho had another good opportunity which he struck straight at Vicario! Vicario then pulled out his best save of the game to once again deny Alejandro Garnacho before Joshua Zirkzee had a great opportunity to score which he headed wide! Overall, it’s a win that Tottenham Hotspur desperately needed! Spurs rise to 12th in the league and they go to Ipswich in their next fixture! As for Manchester United, I can’t understand how they didn’t score in this game! United drop to 15th in the table and they go to Everton next time out!

 


West Ham 0-1 Brentford

Despite a good initial save by Alphonse Areola, Kevin Schade was able to get the ball over the line on the rebound to give Brentford the lead inside 4 minutes! Kevin Schade then had another good chance to score which he whacked the post with before Yoane Wissa thought he’d made it 2-0, only for his goal to be ruled out for an earlier offside! In the Second Half, Mohammed Kudus missed an absolute sitter of a chance as he blasted the ball straight over the bar before Evan Ferguson’s effort was easily saved by Mark Flekken! In the end, it’s another defeat for West Ham United! The Hammers stay 16th in the table and they head to Arsenal next time out! As for Brentford, this is a good win for them! The Bees rise to 11th in the league and they go to Leicester for this weekend’s Friday Night Football!
