Southampton 0-5 Brentford
Brentford finally picked up a win away from home in a 5-0 thumping over struggling Southampton! After just 6 minutes, Brentford had the lead as Kevin Schade finished well! Christian Norgaard then had a good opportunity to score which he headed onto the crossbar before Tyler Dibling hit the side-netting! In the Second Half, Yoane Wissa had a golden opportunity to make it 2-0 which he made an absolute mess of before Brentford finally had a second in the 62nd minute through Bryan Mbeumo! Things then got worse for Southampton as Mbeumo scored again (this time from the penalty spot) before Keane Lewis-Potter made it 4-0 in the 92nd minute! And then, just 2 minutes later, Yoane Wissa scored to make it 5-0 to the visitors! In the end, it’s just pathetic at this point from Southampton! The Saints remain bottom of the league and they face Swansea in the FA Cup on Sunday before they go to Manchester United for their next league game! As for Brentford, it’s a 5-star performance from them! The Bees rise to 11th in the table and they host Plymouth and Manchester City in their next couple of matches!
Manchester City 4-1 West Ham
Mohammed Kudus had a good opportunity to score early on which he could only hit the side-netting with before Manchester City had the lead after just 10 minutes through a Vladimir Coufal own goal! Alphonse Areola then made a good save to keep Rico Lewis’ effort out before Man City had their second in the 42nd minute through Erling Haaland! The ball in from Savinho here is fantastic! In the 55th minute, it was 3-0 as Haaland scored again before Phil Foden netted just 3 minutes later to make it 4-0 to City! West Ham were at least able to get one back though through Niclas Fullkrug! Overall, this is more like it from Manchester City! City remain 6th in the league and they host Salford next weekend followed by an away trip to Brentford! As for West Ham United, they had no answer here! The Hammers drop to 14th in the table and they face Aston Villa in the FA Cup on Friday before they host Fulham in their next league game!
Liverpool 2-2 Manchester United
A 4-goal Second Half resulted in the points being split at Anfield! Cody Gakpo had a good opportunity which he failed to hit the target with before Alisson became big to deny Rasmus Hojlund! 7 minutes into the Second Half, and Manchester United did find themselves in front as Lisandro Martinez thrashed the ball into the back of the net! Just 7 minutes later, though, and it was 1-all as Cody Gakpo fired home! Liverpool were then awarded a penalty after a clear handball by Matthijs de Ligt, and it was Mohamed Salah who stepped up and scored to turn the game around for the hosts! However, in the 80th minute, it was 2-2 as Amda Diallo found the back of the net yet again in a big game! Virgil van Dijk then had a golden chance to score which he headed tamely into the arms of Andre Onana before Harry Maguire had an amazing chance to win it right at the death, but he poorly blazed his effort over the bar! In the end, Liverpool won’t be happy with this result at all! The Reds remain top of the league and they face Tottenham (in the Carabao Cup) and Accrington Stanley (in the FA Cup) before their next league game away at Nottingham Forest! As for Manchester United, they’ll have mixed feelings about this result! United rise to 13th in the table and they go to Arsenal in the FA Cup on the Weekend before they host Southampton next Thursday!
Fulham 2-2 Ipswich
Not 1, not 2, but 3 penalties decided the outcome at Craven Cottage! Leif Davis received a Yellow Card for wiping out Harry Wilson, but I honestly think he should’ve been sent off before Ipswich had the lead in the 38th minute through Sammie Szmodics! The clearance here from Calvin Bassey is absolutely abysmal! In the Second Half, Fulham were awarded after Harry Wilson was brought down, and it was Raul Jimenez who stepped up and scored to make it 1-1 after 69! Less than 2 minutes later, though, and Ipswich had a penalty of their own which Liam Delap dispatched superbly! Jack Clarke was then really unlucky as his effort came firing back off the post before unbelievably, Fulham went down the other end and won another penalty after Davis clipped Jimenez! It was then Raul Jimenez who stepped up and scored for the second time to rescue a point for the hosts! In the end, it’s still 2 points dropped for Fulham! Fulham drop to 9th in the league and they take on Watford and West Ham in their next couple of fixtures! As for Ipswich Town, they were so close here! The Tractor Boys remain inside the Relegation Zone (in 18th) and they face Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup on Sunday followed by Brighton next Thursday!
Wolves 0-3 Nottingham Forest
It was another fantastic night for Nottingham Forest as Nuno Espirito Santo marked his return to the Molineux with a 3-0 thrashing of Wolverhampton Wanderers! After just 7 minutes, Nottingham Forest had the lead as Morgan Gibbs-White netted against his former club! Jorgen Strand Larsen then had a golden opportunity to equalise which he struck straight at Murillo before Strand Larsen had another great chance, this time heading the ball straight at Matz Sels! Forest were then asking for a penalty after the ball struck the arm of Rayan Ait Nouri, and whilst it wasn’t given, I think it maybe should’ve been! Just a minute before Halftime, and Forest had a second as Chris Wood scored following a terrific solo run from Callum Hudson-Odoi! And then, in the 94th minute, Taiwo Awoniyi finished off a well-executed counterattack to seal a great night for the visitors! In the end, this wasn’t good from a Wolverhampton Wanderers perspective! Wolves stay 17th in the table and they go to Bristol City and Newcastle in their next couple of fixtures! As for Nottingham Forest, they look unstoppable right now! Forest remain third in the league and they host Luton in the FA Cup on Saturday before they take on Liverpool in a huge Premier League matchup!
Tottenham 1-2 Newcastle
Newcastle United were at it again as they edged out Tottenham Hotspur for their 6th-straight win! After less than 200 seconds, Tottenham had the lead through Dominic Solanke! This is such a good goal, the ball in from Pedro Porro is great, and Solanke’s header is terrific! Just 2 minutes later, though, and Newcastle were level as Anthony Gordon scored after plenty of shouts for a handball during the build-up! I think given how decisions usually go for handballs like this, I’m amazed this wasn’t ruled out! Gordon then had another good chance to score which was saved by Brandon Austin before Alexander Isak came within a whisker of giving Newcastle the lead! However, in the 38th minute, Isak wasn’t to miss again as he flicked home from close range to put the visitors in front! In the Second Half, Brennan Johnson struck the post from close range before James Maddison saw his curling effort fly just wide of the post! Spurs then had a couple more good chances to equalise, but they simply couldn’t! In the end, it’s another defeat for Tottenham Hotspur! Spurs drop to 12th in the table and they host Liverpool in the Carabao Cup tomorrow followed by an away trip to Tamworth before they face Arsenal in a huge league clash! As for Newcastle United, they’re flying right now! The Magpies remain 5th in the league and they face Arsenal in the Carabao Cup tonight, Bromley in the FA Cup on Sunday, and then they host Wolves in their next league game!
Aston Villa 2-1 Leicester
Aston Villa were asking for a penalty which the referee didn’t give before Stephy Mavididi had a great opportunity which he struck well off target! In the 58th minute, Aston Villa had the lead thanks to a great strike from Ross Barkley! Just 5 minutes later, though, and Leicester were level as this time, Stephy Mavididi was able to find the back of the net! In the 76th minute, Villa were back in front as Leon Bailey finished from close range after a poor bit of play by Jordan Ayew! Leon Bailey then had another opportunity to score which he smashed the crossbar with before Ollie Watkins somehow missed from about 4 yards out! Overall, it’s a win for Aston Villa which is all that matters at this stage! Villa rise to 8th in the league and they host West Ham in the FA Cup on Friday followed by an away trip to Everton! As for Leicester City, it’s another defeat for them! The Foxes remain inside the Relegation Zone (in 19th) and they host QPR and Crystal Palace in their first home matches of 2025!
Brighton 1-1 Arsenal
After just 16 minutes, Arsenal had the lead through young Ethan Nwaneri! This is a great moment for him, but what on earth was Bart Verbruggen doing? Simon Adingra then had a great chance to equalise which he scuffed wide before Gabriel Jesus took a great-headed chance away from Mikel Merino! In the Second Half, Brighton were awarded a penalty after a coming together between Joao Pedro and William Saliba, and it was Pedro who stepped up and scored to make it 1-1 after 61! Brighton then had a great chance to win it late on, but Yankuba Minteh couldn’t find either a teammate or the back of the net! In the end, it’s a mixed result if you’re Brighton and Hove Albion! The Seagulls remain 10th in the table and they go to Norwich and Ipswich in their next couple of matches! As for Arsenal, this definitely isn’t a great result for them! The Gunners remain second in the league and they face a massive week (all at home) against Newcastle (Carabao Cup), Manchester United (FA Cup), and Tottenham (PL)!
Crystal Palace 1-1 Chelsea
It was more points dropped for Chelsea as Crystal Palace earned another valuable point! After just 14 minutes, Chelsea had the lead as Cole Palmer finished well! Nicolas Jackson then had a great chance to make it 2-0 which he somehow put wide before Jean-Philippe Mateta came close to making it 1-1! Nicolas Jackson then had another good chance to score which he again put wide before Eberechi Eze should’ve equalised as he too failed to hit the target! Jackson then had another good opportunity which he again struck off target before finally, in the 82nd minute, Crystal Palace had their equaliser through Jean-Philippe Mateta! In the end, it’s a good point for Crystal Palace! The Eagles remain 15th in the table and they host Stockport County on Sunday followed by an important away trip to Leicester! As for Chelsea, it’s more dropped points for them! The Blues stay 4th in the league and they host Morecambe and Bournemouth in their next couple of fixtures!
Bournemouth 1-0 Everton
Dango Ouattara had a good chance to give Bournemouth the lead which he tamely hit at Jordan Pickford before Evanilson had a great opportunity which he struck just wide! Jordan Pickford then made another good save, this time to deny Justin Kluivert before he again managed to keep Ouattara’s effort out! But then, in the 77th minute, Bournemouth finally had the lead through David Brooks! Overall, it’s another win for AFC Bournemouth! The Cherries remain 7th in the league and they host West Brom on Saturday followed by an away trip to Chelsea! As for Everton, it’s another defeat for them! The Toffees remain 16th in the table and they host Peterborough and Aston Villa in their next couple of matches!
