Liverpool 3-1 Leicester
Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League with a comeback win over Leicester City! After just 6 minutes, Leicester had the lead thanks to a nice finish from Jordan Ayew! Andy Robertson was then unlucky as his headed effort came back off the post before Mohamed Salah hit the crossbar! Right on Halftime, and it was 1-all as Cody Gakpo scored with a terrific curling effort! Just 4 minutes into the Second Half, and Liverpool took the lead as Curtis Jones converted from close range! Cody Gakpo then thought he’d scored again, but his goal was ruled out for offside before Mo Salah finished the game off with an 82nd-minute curler! Overall, it’s another victory for Liverpool! The Reds remain top of the league and they head to West Ham for their next fixture! As for Leicester City, this was kind of expected really! The Foxes now find themselves inside the Relegation Zone (in 18th) and they host Manchester City next time out!
Newcastle 3-0 Aston Villa
Newcastle United’s climb up the table continued with a comfortable victory at home to Aston Villa! After just 90 seconds, Newcastle had the lead as Anthony Gordon scored with a cracking effort! Things then got worse for Aston Villa as Jhon Duran was shown a straight Red Card for a nasty-looking challenge before Emiliano Martinez pulled off a great save to deny Sandro Tonali! In the 59th minute, Newcastle’s lead doubled as Alexander Isak tapped home from close range before Jacob Murphy had a golden chance to score which he somehow struck the crossbar with! Bruno Guimaraes then had a goal ruled out for a handball before Joelinton fired home in the 91st minute to wrap up another 3 points for the hosts! Overall, it’s another strong win for Newcastle United! The Magpies rise to 5th in the league and their next game is a big one away at Manchester United! As for Aston Villa, they were completely outplayed here! Villa drop to 9th in the table and they host Brighton next time out!
Chelsea 1-2 Fulham
A late, late goal earned Fulham a dramatic 3 points away at London Rivals Chelsea! After just 16 minutes, Chelsea had the lead courtesy of a great goal from Cole Palmer! Robert Sanchez then made a decent save to keep Calvin Bassey’s effort out before Marc Cucurella had a great opportunity which he could only head straight at Bernd Leno! In the Second Half, Bernd Leno pulled out a great save to tip Enzo Fernandez’s effort over the bar before Harry Wilson headed home from close range to make it 1-1 after 82! And then, in the 95th minute, Rodrigo Muniz kept his cool to calmly find the back of the net and earn Fulham a dramatic late victory! In the end, this is a slip-up for Chelsea! The Blues drop to third in the league and their next game sees them head to Ipswich! As for Fulham, what a win for them! The Cottagers rise to 8th in the table and they host Bournemouth next time out!
Wolves 2-0 Manchester United
Wolverhampton Wanderers kept up their perfect start under Vitor Pereira as Manchester United lose yet again! Andre Onana pulled out a decent save to push Jorgen Strand Larsen’s headed effort over before Bruno Fernandes was sent off for a second Yellow Card just 2 minutes into the Second Half! Jorgen Strand Larsen then had a goal ruled out for offside before Wolves had the lead in the 58th minute as Matheus Cunha managed to score directly from a corner! And then, in the 99th minute, Hwang Hee-Chan scored to seal all 3 points for the hosts! Overall, it’s 2 wins out of 2 for Wolverhampton Wanderers under new boss Vitor Pereira! Wolves now find themselves outside the Relegation Zone (in 17th) and they go to Tottenham next time out! As for Manchester United, it’s yet another defeat for them! United drop to 14th in the table and they host Newcastle in their last game of 2024!
Manchester City 1-1 Everton
An Erling Haaland missed penalty resulted in Manchester City dropping yet more points! Josko Gvardiol was unlucky as his headed effort came firing back of the post before Bernardo Silva gave Manchester City the lead after just 14 minutes thanks to a bit of a deflection! Bernardo then had a great chance to score again which he scuffed off target before Everton were level in the 36th minute through Iliman Ndiaye! In the Second Half, Mateo Kovacic saw his effort fire just wide of the post before Man City were awarded a penalty after Vitalii Mykolenko wiped out Savinho! Erling Haaland then stepped up, only to see his effort saved by Jordan Pickford before his follow-up header was ruled out for offside! This was a really poor penalty from Haaland! In the end, it’s another poor result for Manchester City! City remain 7th in the league and they head to Leicester on Sunday! As for Everton, it’s another positive point for them! The Toffees remain 15th in the table and they host Nottingham Forest next time out!
Nottingham Forest 1-0 Tottenham
After 28 minutes, Nottingham Forest had the lead as Anthony Elanga finished well after a terrific through ball from Morgan Gibbs-White! Matz Sels then made a good save to stop Brennan Johnson from scoring against his former club before Sels made another save to deny Johnson and Tottenham an equaliser! And in the 94th minute, Djed Spence saw himself get sent off on his former turf! Overall, it’s another win for Nottingham Forest! Forest remain 4th in the league and they head to Everton tomorrow! As for Tottenham Hotspur, it’s just another game where they haven’t been good enough! Spurs drop to 12th in the table and they host Wolves next time out!
Arsenal 1-0 Ipswich
Sammie Szmodics had a good opportunity to score, but he just wasn’t able to make contact with the ball before Arsenal had the lead in the 23rd minute through Kai Havertz! Gabriel Jesus then found the back of the net, but his goal was ruled out for a clear offside before Gabriel had a golden opportunity which he somehow headed wide! Arsenal then had a couple more chances to score, but Arijanet Muric was able to deny them! Overall, it’s another win for Arsenal! The Gunners rise to second in the league and they head to Brentford on New Year's Day! As for Ipswich Town, at least they didn’t get thrashed! The Tractor Boys remain inside the Relegation Zone (in 19th) and they host Chelsea next time out!
Southampton 0-1 West Ham
Ivan Juric’s first game in charge of Southampton didn’t quite go to plan as they lost at home to West Ham United! Carlos Soler had a great chance to give West Ham the lead which he somehow smashed the crossbar with before Mateus Fernandes had a great chance of his own which he headed straight at Lukasz Fabianski! Fabianski then made another good save, this time to deny Paul Onuachu before Guido Rodriguez was shown a straight Red Card, only for VAR to overturn the decision! In the 59th minute, it was West Ham who found themselves in front as Jarrod Bowen poked home from close range! Onuachu then had another good chance to score, but his headed effort went just wide of the post! In the end, Southampton will be gutted to have lost this game! The Saints remain bottom of the league and they go to Crystal Palace next time out! As for West Ham United, it’s another good result for them! The Hammers rise to 13th in the table and they host Liverpool tomorrow evening!
Brighton 0-0 Brentford
Julio Enciso had a great chance to give Brighton the lead, but he could only hit the post before Enciso had another good chance which he headed straight at Mark Flekken! Yoane Wissa then thought he’d fired Brentford in front, but his goal was ruled out for a tight offside! In the Second Half, Wissa had another good opportunity which he tamely struck straight at Bart Verbruggen before Solly March had a chance to win it which he blasted well over the bar! In the end, it’s another game without a win for Brighton and Hove Albion! The Seagulls stay 10th in the league and they head to Aston Villa next time out! As for Brentford, they’ll take this point! The Bees rise to 11th in the table and their next game sees them host Arsenal on New Year’s Day!
Bournemouth 0-0 Crystal Palace
Dango Ouattara had a couple of good chances to give Bournemouth the lead which he failed to hit the target with before Evanilson had a couple of good chances which he just wasn’t able to fire home with! Honestly, that was all that happened! In the end, this is a slip up for AFC Bournemouth! The Cherries drop to 6th in the league and their next game is an exciting one away at Fulham! As for Crystal Palace, they’ll take this point! The Eagles remain 16th in the table and they host Southampton next time out!
