2024/25 Premier League Preview: Gameweek 3

Arsenal VS Brighton

Two teams with a perfect record face off as Arsenal host Brighton! Arsenal picked up a really good 2-0 win at Aston Villa last weekend and they currently sit third in the table. When it comes to Brighton, they’ve won home matches against both Manchester United and Crawley this week and they currently find themselves second in the league. In their previous 17 meetings, Arsenal have won 8 games compared to Brighton’s 6! For Arsenal, they’ll be expected to make it 3 wins from 3! The Gunners are ranked 5th in GPG (2.0) and they’re still yet to concede a goal this season! As for Brighton and Hove Albion, they’ll be well up for this! The Seagulls are ranked 3rd in GPG (2.5) and they’re also off to a perfect start this campaign!

My Prediction: 2-1

Brentford VS Southampton

Brentford followed up a 2-0 loss at Liverpool with a 1-0 win over Colchester and they currently find themselves 13th in the league. When it comes to Southampton, they lost 1-0 at home to Nottingham Forest last weekend before they beat Cardiff 5-3 in the Cup, and they currently sit 16th in the table! In their previous 7 meetings, Brentford have won 5 games compared to Southampton’s 2! For Brentford, they need to make home advantage count. The Bees are ranked 8th in GPG (1.0) and they’ve won 2 of their 3 games so far this season. As for Southampton, they can’t really afford to go 0-3 heading into the first International Break! The Saints are ranked 19th in GPG (0.0), but they did manage to score 5 in the cup this week!

My Prediction: 1-0

Everton VS Bournemouth

Everton got thrashed 4-0 at Tottenham last weekend before they beat Doncaster 3-0 midweek, but they are currently bottom of the league. When it comes to Bournemouth, they drew 1-1 with Newcastle last weekend before they got knocked out of the Carabao Cup by West Ham, and they currently sit 14th in the table. In their previous 16 meetings, both sides have picked up 7 wins each! For Everton, they have to get a result here! The Toffees are ranked 19th in GPG (0.0) and they are obviously still yet to find the back of the net in the league this season! As for AFC Bournemouth, it’s important for them to try and get their first win on the board! The Cherries are ranked 8th in GPG (1.0) and they’re still yet to win a game in any competition so far this season!

My Prediction: 0-2

Ipswich VS Fulham

Ipswich lost 4-1 at Manchester City last weekend before they got stunned in the Carabao Cup by AFC Wimbledon, and they currently find themselves inside the Relegation Zone (in 18th). When it comes to Fulham, they’ve beaten both Leicester and Birmingham in the past 7 days and they currently sit 10th in the table. In their previous 10 meetings, Ipswich have won 3 times whilst Fulham have won 6 times. For Ipswich Town, this is definetly a game they can get something out of! The Tractor Boys are ranked 17th in GPG (0.5) and they’re still yet to get a positive result in this new campaign! As for Fulham, they’d be disappointed with themselves if they didn’t win this game. The Cottagers are ranked 8th in GPG (1.0) and they’ve won 2 of their 3 games so far!

My Prediction: 2-2

For Leicester City, they’ll be looking for their first victory of their league campaign! The Foxes are ranked 8th in GPG (1.0), but they did stick 4 past Tranmere midweek! As for Aston Villa, they need to bounce back here. Villa are also ranked 8th in GPG (1.0) and they’re looking to make it 2 wins out of 2 away from home!

My Prediction: 1-3

Nottingham Forest VS Wolves

Nottingham Forest won at Southampton last week before they lost on penalties to Newcastle midweek, and they currently find themselves 7th in the league! When it comes to Wolves, they got smashed 6-2 by Chelsea last weekend before they beat Burnley 2-0 in the Cup, but they are still currently 19th in the table. In their previous 16 meetings, Forest have won 4 times to Wolves’ 6. For Nottingham Forest, they’ll be aiming to keep their positive start to the season going. Forest are ranked 8th in GPG (1.0) and they’re still unbeaten in 90 minutes so far this season! As for Wolverhampton Wanderers, they need to get a result here! Wolves are also ranked 8th in GPG (1.0), and the home team has scored twice in all 3 of their games so fart this season!

My Prediction: 2-1

This week’s Saturday Night Football sees West Ham host the Champions! West Ham have beaten both Crystal Palace and Bournemouth in the past 7 days and they currently sit 9th in the table. When it comes to Manchester City, they thrashed Ipswich 4-1 last time out and they’re currently top of the league! In their previous 30 meetings, West Ham have only won twice whilst Man City have won 23 times! For West Ham United, they’ll be really up for this one! The Hammers are ranked 7th in GPG (1.5) and they’ve won their last two games without conceding a goal! As for Manchester City, they’ll know that this is another early test for them! City are ranked 1st in GPG (3.0) and they’re currently on a 25-game unbeaten run in the Premier League (21W,4D)!

My Prediction: 1-2

In their previous 23 meetings, Chelsea have won 19 times compared to Palace’s 4. For Chelsea, they should win this game! The Blues are ranked 1st in GPG (3.0), and at least 1 team has scored 2 goals in all four of their games so far this season! As for Crystal Palace, they can’t really afford to go 0-3! The Eagles are ranked 17th in GPG (0.5), but they did score 4 midweek!

My Prediction: 2-0

Newcastle VS Tottenham

Newcastle host Tottenham in what should be a really exciting matchup! Newcastle drew 1-1 against both Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest this week (they beat Forest on penalties) and they currently sit 6th in the table. When it comes to Tottenham, they thrashed Everton 4-0 last time out and they are currently 5th in the league. In their previous 27 meetings, Newcastle have won 9 games compared to Spurs’ 14. For Newcastle United, they need to take advantage of being the home team! The Magpies are ranked 8th in GPG (1.0) and they’ve only managed to score 1 goal in all 3 of their matches so far! As for Tottenham Hotspur, this is a big test for them! Spurs are ranked 3rd in GPG (2.5), but they did fail to win their opening away fixture!

My Prediction: 2-2

Manchester United VS Liverpool

One of the biggest games of the season is already taking place as Manchester United welcome Liverpool to Old Trafford! Manchester United lost 2-1 at Brighton last weekend and they currently sit 11th in the table. When it comes to Liverpool, they beat Brentford 2-0 last time out and they are currently 4th in the league. In their previous 35 meetings, United have won 14 games compared to Liverpool’s 11. For Manchester United, they really need a result here. United are ranked 8th in GPG (1.0) and they currently don’t have a positive Goal Difference! As for Liverpool, this is the first proper big test for Arne Slot in charge! The Reds are ranked 5th in GPG (2.0), and they’re yet to concede so far this season!

My Prediction: 1-3
