2023 NFL Week 9 Preview and Predictions: Part 1

Teams on a Bye Week:

Jacksonville Jaguars (6-2)

Detroit Lions (6-2)

San Francisco 49ers (5-3)

Denver Broncos (3-5)

(3-4) Tennessee Titans @ Pittsburgh Steelers (4-3)

Week 9’s Thursday Night Football sees the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Tennessee Titans at Acrisure Stadium. The Pittsburgh Steelers lost at home to the Jacksonville Jaguars last weekend and they currently sit second in the AFC North with a decent 4-3 record. As for Tennessee, they picked up a victory at home to the Atlanta Falcons last time out and they are currently third in the AFC South with a 3-4 record. In terms of my Prediction, I’m going to back The Steelers to get the job done. Pittsburgh are a better team than Tennessee on paper, and it’s also worth mentioning that The Titans don’t do particularly well on the road.

(6-2) Miami Dolphins @ Kansas City Chiefs (6-2)

American Football returns to Germany as the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins collide at the Deutsche Bank Arena in Frankfurt. The Kansas City Chiefs’ winning run was shockingly ended by the Denver Broncos last week, but they do still lead the AFC West as the only team with a positive record. As for Miami, they won at home to the New England Patriots in Week 8 and they currently lead the AFC East with a good 6-2 record. In terms of my Prediction, I’m going to pick The Chiefs. Whilst Tua Tagovailoa has been outplaying Patrick Mahomes this season, The Dolphins have struggled against the big teams this season and it’s safe to put Kansas City in that category.

(4-4) Minnesota Vikings @ Atlanta Falcons (4-4)

The Atlanta Falcons lost in Tennessee last week, but they do still lead the NFC South with a 4-4 record. As for Minnesota, they made it 3 wins on the bounce (thanks to a great win in Green Bay) and they currently sit second in the NFC North at .500. In terms of my Prediction, I’m going to say that Atlanta will win this game. Both teams enter this weekend’s game with new Starting Quarterbacks, and I think Taylor Heinicke will outshine Joshua Dobbs.

(1-7) Arizona Cardinals @ Cleveland Browns (4-3)

The Cleveland Browns suffered a tight 24-20 defeat in Seattle last weekend and they currently sit third in the AFC North with a decent 4-3 record. As for Arizona, they lost again (this time at home to the Baltimore Ravens) and they find themselves in last place in the NFC West with a terrible 1-7 record. In terms of my Prediction, this should be an easy victory for Cleveland. Having said that, if Kyler Murray does start for The Cardinals, I think it will be a lot closer.

(3-5) Los Angeles Rams @ Green Bay Packers (2-5)

The Green Bay Packers suffered their 4th straight loss last week (thanks to the Minnesota Vikings) and they currently sit third in the NFC North with a disappointing 2-5 record. As for LA, they got thrashed 43-20 in Dallas last time out and they are currently third in the NFC West with a record of 3-5. In terms of my Prediction, I’m going to say The Rams get the W. Green Bay are a mess right now and this is a game that LA probably should be winning.

(3-5) Washington Commanders @ New England Patriots (2-6)

The New England Patriots lost in Miami last time out and they currently sit bottom of the AFC East with a disappointing 2-6 record. As for Washington, they lost at home to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8 and they are currently third in the NFC East with a negative record of 3-5. In terms of my Prediction, I expect The Patriots to win this game. Whilst both teams could pick up the W in this one, I think New England should be good enough to get the job done.

(2-6) Chicago Bears @ New Orleans Saints (4-4)

The New Orleans Saints won in Indianapolis last week and they currently sit third in the NFC South with an okay 4-4 record. As for Chicago, they were comfortably beaten by the Los Angeles Chargers in last week’s Sunday Night Football and they are currently bottom of the NFC North with a disappointing record of 2-6. In terms of my Prediction, The Saints should win this comfortably. Whether they do that though is another thing entirely (but they should still win).
