2023 NFL Week 15 Preview and Predictions: Part 1

(5-8) Los Angeles Chargers @ Las Vegas Raiders (5-8)

The Las Vegas Raiders lost 3-0 (yes 3-0) at home to the Minnesota Vikings last week, and as it stands, The Raiders sit bottom of the AFC West with a disappointing 5-8 record (which also sees them as the 4th-worst team in the AFC). As for LA, they were comfortably beaten by the Denver Broncos last time, and if the season ended today, finishing third in the AFC West with a not-great 5-8 record would not be enough for them to make the Playoffs. In terms of my Prediction, I’m going to just about go with The Raiders. Neither of these teams are very good and the only reason I’m picking Las Vegas to win is because Justin Herbert’s (now) out for the season.

(7-6) Minnesota Vikings @ Cincinnati Bengals (7-6)

The Cincinnati Bengals host the Minnesota Vikings in the first of three big Saturday Showdowns. The Cincinnati Bengals beat the Indianapolis Colts last weekend, but they are still bottom of the AFC North with an okay 7-6 record. If the season ended today, The Bengals wouldn’t quite make the Playoffs. As for Minnesota, they beat the Las Vegas Raiders in the “worst game ever” last time out and they currently sit second in the NFC North with an alright record of 7-6. As it stands, The Vikings currently occupy the Number 6 seed in the NFC. In terms of my Prediction, I think The Bengals will win this game. Cincinnati have seemingly turned stuff around after what looked like a season-ender when Joe Burrow got injured, and also, Minnesota aren’t very good.

(7-6) Pittsburgh Steelers @ Indianapolis Colts (7-6)

The Indianapolis Colts lost in Cincinnati last time out, and as it stands, they sit second in the AFC South with a 7-6 record whilst also holding onto the final spot in the Playoffs. As for Pittsburgh, they suffered a terrible loss at home to the New England Patriots last Thursday Night and they currently find themselves third in the AFC North with an okay 7-6 record. If the season ended today, Pittsburgh would still make the Playoffs as the Number 6 seed (on the AFC side of things). In terms of my Prediction, I’m going to back The Colts in this one. Either team could easily win or lose this game, but I’m going to back Indy simply because of how bad Pittsburgh were last week.

(7-6) Denver Broncos @ Detroit Lions (9-4)

In arguably the best game of “Saturday Showdown”, the Denver Broncos travel to Detroit to take on The Lions! The Detroit Lions suffered a terrible 13-28 loss in Chicago last weekend, and if the season ended today, a 9-4 record would see The Lions win the NFC North and take the Number 3 seed as a result. As for Denver, they picked up another win last time out in LA and they currently sit second in the AFC West with a decent 7-6 record. As it stands, The Broncos are just outside of the Playoff places. In terms of my Prediction, I think Denver will beat Detroit in this one. Denver have been on a really good run lately whilst The Lions seem to be faltering a little bit.

(5-8) Chicago Bears @ Cleveland Browns (8-5)

The Cleveland Browns picked up a big win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14 and they currently sit second in the AFC North with a good 8-5 record. If the season ended today, The Browns would take the Number 5 seed in the AFC Playoffs. As for Chicago, they picked up a great win against Division Rivals Detroit last time out, and as it stands, The Bears are bottom of the NFC North with a 5-8 record which also happens to be the 4th-worst record in the NFC. In terms of my Prediction, I fully expect Cleveland to win this game. This is simply based on the fact that Cleveland are a much stronger side.

(6-7) Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Green Bay Packers (6-7)

The Green Bay Packers suffered a poor defeat at the New York Giants Monday Night, and as it stands, The Packers sit third in the NFC North with a 6-7 record which just about sees them holding onto the 7th seed in the NFC. As for Tampa Bay, they picked up a huge W in Atlanta last time out, and if the season ended today, The Buccaneers would win the NFC South with a 7-6 record which would also see them take the Number 4 seed in the NFC Playoffs. In terms of my Prediction, I’m going to go with The Bucs in this one. This is a massive game for both sides and this Prediction is simply made off the back of what happened last weekend.

(7-6) Houston Texans @ Tennessee Titans (5-8)

The Tennessee Titans somehow beat The Dolphins in Miami Monday Night and they currently, but they are still bottom of the NFC South as the only team with a negative record (5-8). As it stands, The Titans have the second-worst record in the AFC. As for Houston, they slipped up big time in New York (against The Jets) last time out, and if the season ended today, finishing third in the AFC South with a record of 7-6 would see them just miss out on the Playoffs. In terms of my Prediction, I am going to back The Texans to bounce back and win. I’d like to think (for Houston’s sake) that last week was a one-off, but I’m not totally convinced.

(5-8) New York Jets @ Miami Dolphins (9-4)

The Miami Dolphins somehow lost at home to the Tennessee Titans Monday Night, but they are still currently leading the AFC East with a good 9-4 record. As it stands, The Dolphins occupy the second seed in the AFC. As for New York, they stuffed the Houston Texans last time out, but if the season ended today, finishing third in the AFC East with a disappointing 5-8 record would see them as the (overall) third-worst team in the AFC. In terms of my Prediction, Miami should win this game. However, you just never know after what went down in Week 14!
