Chelsea 4-3 Manchester United
Two ridiculously late goals resulted in Chelsea picking up a huge 3 points at the expense of Manchester United. After less than 4 minutes, Chelsea had the lead as Conor Gallagher found the back of the net. Personally, I think Andre Onana could’ve and really should’ve done better here. Chelsea were then awarded a penalty after Antony stupidly brought down Marc Cucurella. Cole Palmer then stepped up and scored to make it 2-0 to the hosts after just 19 minutes. In the 34th minute, Alejandro Garnacho got one back for Manchester United after a terrible error by Moises Caicedo before United were level just 5 minutes later thanks to Bruno Fernandes! In the 67th minute, Man United took the lead as Alejandro Garnacho scored again after a wonderful ball across from Antony. In the 97th minute, Chelsea were awarded a second penalty after Diogo Dalot brought down Noni Madueke. Cole Palmer stepped up and once again converted to make it 3-3 in the 100th minute! And then, just a minute later, a nice deflection off of Scott McTominay allowed Cole Palmer to complete his hat-trick and a memorable win for Chelsea! Overall, this is exactly the kind of result that Chelsea needed. The Blues rise to 10th in the table and they go to Sheffield United next time out. As for Manchester United, they’ll be gutted about the ending of this game. United stay 6th in the league and their next game is a big one at home to Liverpool.
Manchester City 4-1 Aston Villa
A Phil Foden hat-trick was enough for Manchester City to breeze past Aston Villa. After 11 minutes, Manchester City had the lead as Rodri finished well after a nice pass from Jeremy Doku. Less than 10 minutes later though and Aston Villa were level as Jhon Duran also finished well. Robin Olsen then pulled out a good stop to deny Julian Alvarez before Phil Foden sent Man City into the break ahead with a nice free-kick goal. However, it does need to be said that Nicolo Zaniolo’s positioning in the Villa wall is terrible! Robin Olsen was then able to make another good save to keep Bernardo Silva’s effort out before Stefan Ortega made a decent save to deny Douglas Luiz. In the 62nd minute, City had their third as Foden scored after a lovely bit of play by Rodri. And then, in the 69th minute, after originally going down, Phil Foden got back up, won the ball back, and then smashed it into the top-right corner to seal a memorable hat-trick! Overall, this is more like it from Manchester City. City remain third in the league and their next game is at Crystal Palace on Saturday. As for Aston Villa, they just weren’t good enough here. Villa stay 4th in the table and they host Brentford next time out.
Liverpool 3-1 Sheffield United
James McAtee had a golden opportunity to give Sheffield United the lead inside 60 seconds, but he could only strike the ball straight at Caoimhin Kelleher before Liverpool had the lead in the 17th minute as Darwin Nunez scored after an idiotic error by Goalkeeper Ivo Grbic. There’s bad, and then there’s this! However, in the 58th minute, Sheffield U were level thanks to a Conor Bradley own goal. I honestly don’t know what I’m watching! In the 76th minute, Liverpool were back ahead thanks to a fabulous strike from Alexis Mac Allister! This goal is well worth a watch! Mac Allister then smashed the crossbar with a great free-kick effort before Cody Gakpo scored in the 90th minute to seal all 3 points for the hosts. Overall, it’s another win for Liverpool! The Reds remain top of the league and their next game is a big one away at Manchester United. As for Sheffield United, they were so bad here! The Blades remain bottom of the table and they host Chelsea next time out.
Nottingham Forest 3-1 Fulham
Nottingham Forest picked up an important 3 points as Fulham’s European hopes took a big hit! After just 9 minutes, Nottingham Forest had the lead thanks to Callum Hudson-Odoi! Morgan Gibbs-White’s pass is superb, and Hudson-Odoi’s calmness is so impressive! Bernd Leno then made an important save to deny Hudson-Odoi a second, but in the 19th minute, Forest had their second as Chris Wood scored after some bizarre positioning by Leno. Anthony Elanga then clipped the post when he really should’ve made it 3-0 before Morgan Gibbs-White scored right at the end of the First Half to send the hosts into the break 3 goals ahead! 4 minutes into the Second Half though and Fulham had one back courtesy of a Tosin Adarabioyo header. Neco Williams’ deflected effort then hit the bar for Nottingham Forest before Kenny Tete hit the bar himself, just moments after Matz Sels made a superb save to deny Tosin a second. Overall, this is a massive win for Nottingham Forest. Forest remain 17th in the table and they go to Tottenham next time out. As for Fulham, they’re so inconsistent! The Cottagers drop to 13th in the league and they face Newcastle in their next fixture.
Arsenal 2-0 Luton
After 24 minutes, Arsenal found themselves in front through Martin Odegaard. Odegaard finished well here, but I don’t understand why Luton made it so easy for him. Thomas Kaminski was then able to pull out a good save to deny Emile Smith Rowe before Arsenal had their second just before Halftime thanks to a Daiki Hashioka own goal. In the end, this was as easy as they come for Arsenal! The Gunners remain second in the league and their next game is a big one away to Brighton. As for Luton Town, they won’t be disappointed by this result. The Hatters stay inside the Relegation Zone (in 18th place) and they host Bournemouth next time out.
West Ham 1-1 Tottenham
After less than 5 minutes, Tottenham found themselves in front as Brennan Johnson tapped home from close range after a nice ball across from Timo Werner. In the 19th minute, the game was all square again as Kurt Zouma headed home from a corner. I’ll be honest, the positioning by Guglielmo Vicario is absolutely terrible here! In the Second Half, Vicario was able to make up for it slightly with a good save to push Michail Antonio’s effort away before Antonio had a golden opportunity which he scuffed into the arms of the Tottenham Goalie. Destiny Udogie then had a great chance to win it for Spurs, but he struck his effort straight at Lukasz Fabianski! In the end, this was a decent point for West Ham United. The Hammers stay 7th in the table and they go to Wolves in their next game. As for Tottenham Hotspur, they could’ve won this game right at the end! Spurs remain 5th in the league and they take on Nottingham Forest tomorrow.
Newcastle 1-1 Everton
A late penalty could end up proving crucial in the context of both teams’ seasons. After a brilliant pass from Harvey Barnes, Alexander Isak did even better to place the ball into the bottom right-hand corner of the goal to give Newcastle the lead inside 15 minutes. Abdoulaye Doucoure then had a good opportunity which was easily saved by Martin Dubravka before Jordan Pickford pulled out a good save to deny Jacob Murphy. Early in the Second Half and James Tarkowski nearly scored an own goal (he hit his own post) before Dan Burn scored, only for it to be disallowed for offside. James Garner then hit the post for Everton before Vitalii Mykolenko did a great job to clear Alexander Isak’s effort off the line. And then, with just a few minutes to go in normal time, Everton were awarded a penalty after Paul Dummett stupidly pulled down Ashley Young. Dominic Calvert-Lewin then stepped up and scored to secure an important point for the visitors! In the end, this is a very disappointing result for Newcastle United. The Magpies remain 8th in the league and they go to Fulham next time out. As for Everton, this is a really positive result for them. The Toffees stay 16th in the table and they face Burnley in a huge Relegation 6-pointer tomorrow!
Burnley 1-1 Wolves
After 37 minutes, it was Burnley who took the lead as Jacob Bruun Larsen scored after a great ball in from Dara O’Shea. This was a nice goal from a Burnley point of view, but it also felt incredibly simple. Right before Halftime and Wolves were level though as Rayan Ait Nouri headed in what was another simple goal! In the Second Half, Arijanet Muric stood big to deny Ait Nouri a second Jose Sa did well to prevent Bruun Larsen from getting his second goal of the game. Mario Lemina then had a good chance to put Wolves in front, but his headed effort could only hit the post! In the end, it’s a decent point for Burnley, but they will definetly feel like they could’ve and maybe should’ve won this game. The Clarets remain 19th in the table and their next game is a huge one away at Everton tomorrow. As for Wolverhampton Wanderers, I think they’ll be satisfied with a point from this game. Wolves drop to 11th in the league and they host West Ham next time out.
Bournemouth 1-0 Crystal Palace
Jean-Philippe Mateta had a decent opportunity which he made to easy for Neto (to save) before Philip Billing had a good chance which he scuffed wide of the target. Dean Henderson then produced a good save to push Billing’s headed effort onto the bar before Lloyd Kelly had a great opportunity which he poorly headed just wide. Eberechi Eze then had a goal ruled out for offside just before Halftime before Bournemouth took the lead in the 79th minute courtesy of Justin Kluivert. This was a really nice team goal for the hosts! Overall, it’s yet another win for AFC Bournemouth! The Cherries climb to 12th in the league and they go to Luton next time out. As for Crystal Palace, they just weren’t quite good enough here. The Eagles remain 14th in the table and they take on Manchester City tomorrow.
Brentford 0-0 Brighton
Yoane Wissa had a decent opportunity which he failed to hit the target with before Ivan Toney had a good chance which he failed to take. Brighton were then asking for a penalty after Yoane Wissa pulled back Lewis Dunk. At first, I thought it was a penalty, but you can actually see that Dunk pulls Wissa’s shirt first. Good decision overall. In the Second Half, Joel Veltman had a decent chance which he smashed over the bar before Danny Welbeck came within inches of winning Brighton the game. In the end, it’s a point and nothing more for Brentford. The Bees stay 15th in the table and they go to Aston Villa next time out. As for Brighton and Hove Albion, they’ll be slightly disappointed with this result. The Seagulls remain 9th in the league and they take on Arsenal tomorrow.
