Newcastle 4-3 West Ham
Newcastle United came from 2 goals down to pull off a dramatic victory at the expense of West Ham United. Early on, Newcastle were awarded a penalty after Vladimir Coufal brought down Anthony Gordon and Newcastle then took the lead 6 minutes in as Alexander Isak converted from 12 yards. In the 21st minute, West Ham were level as Michail Antonio finished off a rather simple move! In the 5th minute of additional time at the end of the First Half, Bruno Guimaraes hit the crossbar for Newcastle before Mohammed Kudus made it 2-1 to West Ham in the 10th minute of stoppage time! The hosts were complaining that Fabian Schar was still down, but I didn’t see any problems with this. Anyway, 3 minutes into the Second Half and West Ham extended their lead as Jarrod Bowen finished superbly well after a terrific ball from Mohammed Kudus. Newcastle were then given a second penalty after Kalvin Phillips kicked Anthony Gordon. Whilst I understand why this was given as a foul, I don’t think it was at all! Anyway, Alexander Isak stepped up and scored again to make it 3-2 with 13 minutes of normal time remaining. 6 minutes later and Newcastle were level through Harvey Barnes before, in the 90th minute, Barnes scored again to secure a dramatic comeback win for the hosts! I should also mention that Anthony Gordon was shown a second Yellow card minutes after for kicking the ball away so what a stupid move that was! Overall, this is a big win for Newcastle United! The Magpies climb to 8th in the table and they host Newcastle in their next game tomorrow. As for West Ham United, what a killer loss this is for them. The Hammers stay 7th in the league and they host Tottenham next time out.
Sheffield United 3-3 Fulham
Two late Fulham goals could prove costly in Sheffield United’s fight for Survival! Ivo Grbic did well to tip Rodrigo Muniz’s effort onto the post before Muniz hit the post with a good header effort early in the Second Half! In the 58th minute, after a missed placed pass by Tosin Adarabioyo, Ollie McBurnie picked out Ben Brereton Diaz who finished calmly to gift Sheffield United the lead. Just 4 minutes later though and Fulham were level courtesy of a lovely headed finish by Joao Palhinha. In the 68th minute, Sheffield United were back in front as Brereton Diaz assisted Ollie McBurnie this time before the hosts had a third just two minutes later as Ben Brereton Diaz scored again! In the 86th minute, Fulham had one back thanks to a nice Bobby Reid strike before, in the 93rd minute, the visitors struck as Rodrigo Muniz scored with a fantastic volley! In the end, this will really hurt Sheffield United! The Blades remain bottom of the league and they go to Liverpool next time out. As for Fulham, it’s still a disappointing result for them even if they were able to snatch a point. The Cottagers stay 12th in the table and they go to Nottingham Forest tomorrow.
Chelsea 2-2 Burnley
Arijanet Muric pulled out a good save to push the ball onto the woodwork before Djordje Petrovic pulled out a good save of his own to deny Wilson Odobert. Muric then pulled out another good save to keep Nicolas Jackson’s effort out before Chelsea were awarded a penalty after Lorenz Assignon put his arm on the shoulder of Mykhaylo Mudryk. There’s no way this was a penalty, and it’s made even worse by the fact that Assignon was shown a second Yellow card and Burnley Manager Vincent Kompany was also sent off! Cole Palmer then stepped up and coolly converted to send Chelsea into the break ahead. Just two minutes into the Second Half though and Burnley were level thanks to a lovely strike from Josh Cullen. In the 78th minute, Chelsea’s lead was restored as Cole Palmer scored again after a lovely assist by Raheem Sterling. However, just 3 minutes later and Burnley were level again as Dara O’Shea scored after a terrible goalkeeping error by Djordje Petrovic. Raheem Sterling then missed an absolute sitter for Chelsea as headed wide from just a few yards out before Jay Rodriguez should’ve won it for Burnley! In the end, it’s a very poor result from a Chelsea point of view. The Blues stay 11th in the table and they host Manchester United next time out. As for Burnley, this is a great point for them, but I do think they could’ve and maybe should’ve won it at the end! The Clarets remain inside the Relegation Zone (in 19th) and they host Wolves in their next game tomorrow.
Liverpool 2-1 Brighton
Liverpool came from behind to pick up an important 3 points at the expense of Brighton and Hove Albion. After less than 2 minutes, it was Brighton who took the lead as Danny Welbeck scored with a rather nice strike! Mohamed Salah then had a good opportunity which he put wide before Salah had another opportunity which he put over. In the 27th minute, Liverpool did find their equaliser thanks to a nice volleyed finish by Luis Diaz. In the Second Half, Alexis Mac Allister came close to heading the hosts in front before Mo Salah finally got his goal in the 65th minute to give Liverpool the advantage! Luis Diaz then put the ball in the back of the net, but his second goal was ruled out for a very tight offside before Bart Verbruggen pulled out a good save to deny Salah a second. Overall, it’s another win for Liverpool and that’s all they have to do right now! The Reds are now top of the league and they host Sheffield United next time out! As for Brighton and Hove Albion, they’ll have mixed feelings about this one. The Seagulls drop to 9th in the table and they go to Brentford in their next fixture.
Tottenham 2-1 Luton
After just 3 minutes, Luton were ahead as Tahith Chong finished calmly. I honestly have no idea what the Tottenham defenders were doing here! Timo Werner then had a great opportunity which he put just wide before Heung-Min Son hit both posts! 6 minutes into the Second Half though and Tottenham were level as Issa Kabore kicked the ball into his own net! In hindsight, Kabore probably should’ve left it to see if Werner could’ve finished off or not! Son then had a good opportunity which he struck straight at Thomas Kaminski before Guglielmo Vicario pulled out a decent save to deny Jordan Clark. Alfie Doughty then pulled out an incredible goal-line clearance to deny Brennan Johnson before Tottenham finally had the lead in the 86th minute as Heung-Min Son got his goal! Luton were so unlucky with the deflection here! In the end, it’s another comeback win for Tottenham Hotspur! Spurs stay 5th in the table and they go to West Ham tomorrow night. As for Luton Town, they’ll be gutted to leave this game with nothing. The Hatters remain inside the Relegation Zone (in 18th place) and they go to Arsenal next time out!
Bournemouth 2-1 Everton
A late goal was enough for AFC Bournemouth to pick up an important 3 points over Everton. Lewis Cook had a good opportunity for Bournemouth which he blasted over the bar before Neto made a decent save to deny Dominic Calvert-Lewin. In the Second Half, Everton really should’ve had a penalty after Tyler Adams caught Calvert-Lewin. This is a poor decision in my opinion! Everton then hit the post from close range before it was Bournemouth who took the lead in the 64th minute through Dominic Solanke. In the 87th minute, Everton had their equaliser as Beto took advantage of a poor mistake from Neto to tap the ball into the back of an attempt home net. However, in the 91st minute, a silly error by Seamus Coleman gifted Bournemouth the lead back! Overall, this should realistically be enough for AFC Bournemouth to stay up now, and they’re actually not that far away from the European places! The Cherries remain 13th in the league and they host Crystal Palace next time out. As for Everton, it’s another game without a win for them! The Toffees stay 16th in the table and they go to Newcastle tomorrow.
Aston Villa 2-0 Wolves
Rayan Ait Nouri had a golden opportunity to give Wolves the lead in the First Half, but he could only strike the ball straight at Emiliano Martinez. Ollie Watkins then had a really good opportunity which he could only hit the side netting with before Aston Villa had the lead in the 36th minute through Moussa Diaby. Whilst the ball fell rather luckily for Diaby, his finish was superb! 20 minutes into the Second Half and Villa’s lead doubled as Ezri Konsa found the back of the net with what I think was an attempted cross! Nicolo Zaniolo then had a good opportunity to make it 3-0, but he was denied well by Jose Sa. Overall, it’s a positive derby win for Aston Villa! Villa remain 4th in the league and their next game is a big one at Manchester City. As for Wolverhampton Wanderers, they just didn’t show up here! Wolves drop to 10th in the table and they go to Burnley next time out!
Brentford 1-1 Manchester United
Two late goals resulted in the points being shared at the Gtech! Ivan Toney came close for Brentford as he hit the post before Mathias Jorgensen hit the crossbar! In the Second Half, Andre Onana produced a good double save before Yoane Wissa’s effort clipped the outside of the post. Unbelievably, Bryan Mbeumo hit the crossbar for Brentford before Manchester United took the lead in the 96th minute through none other than Mason Mount! However, in the 99th minute, Brentford would finally find the back of the Man United net as Kristoffer Ajer scored after a brilliant bit of play by Ivan Toney. In the end, it’s a very mixed point from a Brentford perspective. The Bees stay 15th in the table and they host Brighton next time out. As for Manchester United, they got completely outplayed here! United remain 6th in the league and their next game is at Chelsea on Thursday.
Nottingham Forest 1-1 Crystal Palace
After just 11 minutes, Crystal Palace had the lead thanks to Jean-Philippe Mateta. Eberechi Eze did really well here! Matz Sels then did well to deny Eze a second Palace goal before Eze came super close to scoring in the Second Half! In the 61st minute, Nottingham Forest had their equaliser as Chris Wood scored with a looping header after a lovely ball from Morgan Gibbs-White. Daniel Munoz then came super close to restoring Crystal Palace’s lead, but his effort could only hit the post and come out! In the end, this is a decent point for Nottingham Forest. Forest climb out of the Relegation Zone (and into 17th) and they host Fulham next time out. As for Crystal Palace, they had multiple good chances to win this game. The Eagles remain 14th in the league and they take on Bournemouth at the Vitality tomorrow!
Manchester City 0-0 Arsenal
There was nothing to separate Manchester City and Arsenal in a tight and rather dull game! Gabriel Jesus had a decent opportunity which he dragged just wide of the post before Nathan Ake had a great chance to score, but he could only head the ball straight at David Raya. In the Second Half, Mateo Kovacic wasn’t too far away with a long distanced effort before Erling Haaland completely missed the ball when trying to fire Man City ahead! In the end, this was a disappointing performance and result for Manchester City. City stay third in the table and their next game is a crucial one at home to Aston Villa. As for Arsenal, they’ll take the point, but they weren’t very good here either. The Gunners drop to second in the league and they host Luton next time out.
