Fulham 3-0 Tottenham
Fulham pulled out a superb performance to stun London Rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Rodrigo Muniz had a decent chance to score, but he failed to make any contact on the ball before Heung-Min Son had a decent opportunity which he blasted over the bar. James Maddison then came within inches of giving Tottenham the lead before Fulham took the lead in the 42nd minute through Rodrigo Muniz. This was a great team goal. 4 minutes into the Second Half and Fulham’s lead doubled through Sasa Lukic before Muniz scored again to make it 3-0 after 61 minutes! This was a mess of a goal from a Tottenham point of view. Timo Werner then had a chance to get one back for Spurs, but he somehow missed an absolute sitter (from about 3 yards out)! Overall, what a great win for Fulham. The Cottagers stay 12th in the table and they go to Sheffield United next time out. As for Tottenham Hotspur, this was a bad day at the office for them. Spurs remain 5th in the league and they take on Luton after the International Break.
Burnley 2-1 Brentford
Burnley “held on” to take a massive 3 points at the expense of Brentford. Despite the referee originally not giving (I don’t really understand how), Burnley were awarded a penalty and Sergio Reguilon was shown a straight Red card. Jacob Bruun Larsen then stepped up and scored to give Burnley the lead after 10 minutes. This is what you call a perfect penalty! Despite a horrendous back pass by Dara O’Shea, it didn’t lead to a goal thanks to a brilliant goal-line clearance from Arijanet Muric. David Datro Fofana then horrendously missed the open goal from 2 yards out, but Fofana made up for it in the Second Half to make it 2-0 to Burnley after 62 minutes of action. Brentford were able to get one back through Kristoffer Ajer before Brentford thought they’d equalised, but it was rightly ruled out as Ivan Toney fouled Muric. Overall, this was very much needed for Burnley! Burnley stay 19th in the table and they go to Chelsea next time out. As for Brentford, it’s getting slightly worrying for them now. The Bees remain 15th in the league and their next game is at home against Manchester United.
Luton 1-1 Nottingham Forest
Another late goal caused another twist in this year’s Survival Race. Ross Barkley hit the post with a superb effort before Reece Burke pulled out an amazing clearance to deny Divock Origi giving Nottingham Forest the lead. However, in the 34th minute, Nottingham Forest did have the lead through Chris Wood. The ball from Morgan Gibbs-White was impressive. Teden Mengi then had an equaliser ruled out for a handball before Mengi pulled out a brilliant goal-line clearance of his own to deny Forest a second. And then, in the 89th minute, Luton had their equaliser thanks to Luke Berry. In the end, Luton Town can be happy with a point from this game. The Hatters stay inside the Relegation Zone (in 18th) and they go to Tottenham next time out. As for Nottingham Forest, they’ll be really frustrated with themselves for not winning this game. Forest remain 17th in the table and they return from the International Break to host Crystal Palace in another huge game.
West Ham 1-1 Aston Villa
Late controversy resulted in the points being shared at the London Stadium. After 29 minutes, it was West Ham who found themselves in front as Michail Antonio headed home nicely after a lovely ball in from Vladimir Coufal. 3 minutes into the Second Half and Antonio thought he’d scored again, but his goal was ruled out due to a handball. In my opinion, this was a stupid decision! Alphonse Areola then made a decent save to deny Ezri Konsa before Aston Villa were level in the 79th minute through Nicolo Zaniolo. What a brilliant assist for Moussa Diaby! And then, in the 96th minute, West Ham thought they’d won it through Tomas Soucek. However, it was ruled out for another handball. I kind of understand this one a little bit more. In the end, it’s a frustrating day for everyone connected to West Ham United. The Hammers stay 7th in the table and they go to Newcastle next time out. As for Aston Villa, they got away with one here! Villa remain 4th in the league and they host Local Rivals Wolves after the International Break.
