2023/24 Premier League Preview: Gameweek 38

Manchester City VS West Ham

Manchester City host West Ham knowing a win would take them to a historic 4th-straight Premier League Title! Manchester City have beaten both Fulham 4-0 and then Tottenham 2-0 away in the last week and they are currently top of the league by 2 points. When it comes to West Ham, they beat Luton 3-1 last time out and they currently sit 9th in the table. In their previous 29 meetings, Man City have won 22 games compared to West Ham’s 5. For Manchester City, the Title is almost their’s (once again)! City are ranked 1st in GPG (2.5) and they’re currently on a 34-game unbeaten run in all competitions (28W,6D). As for West Ham United, David Moyes will be looking to go out with a bang! The Hammers are ranked 8th in GPG (1.6) and they also currently have the 8th-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 3-1

 


Arsenal VS Everton

Arsenal know they have to beat Everton and hope Manchester City slip up if they want any chance of ending the weekend as Premier League Champions! Arsenal won 1-0 at Manchester United last weekend and they are currently second in the league, 2 points off top! When it comes to Everton, they beat Sheffield United 1-0 last time out and they currently sit 15th in the table. In their previous 28 meetings, Arsenal have 16 games compared to 7 wins for Everton! For Arsenal, whatever happens, they’ve had another great season! The Gunners are ranked 2nd in GPG (2.4) and they’re currently on a 5-game winning run (14-2 on aggregate). As for Everton, they’ll expect a barrage here! The Toffees are ranked 19th in GPG (1.1) and they’re currently on a 5-game unbeaten run (4W,1D)!

My Prediction: 5-0

 


Liverpool VS Wolves

Jurgen Klopp bids farewell to Liverpool as they host Wolves at Anfield! Liverpool let a 2-goal lead slip in a 3-3 draw at Aston Villa last weekend and they are currently third in the league. When it comes to Wolves, they lost 3-1 at home to Crystal Palace last time out and they currently sit 13th in the table. In their previous 19 meetings, Liverpool have won 19 games compared to Wolves’ 4. For Liverpool, this is going to be an emotional game for everyone connected to the club! The Reds are ranked third in GPG (2.3) and they currently have the best home record in the league. As for Wolverhampton Wanderers, this is going to be a very difficult game for them. Wolves are ranked 15th in GPG (1.4) and they currently have the 12th-best away record in the league.

Chelsea VS Bournemouth

Chelsea host Bournemouth knowing a point would give them a place in Europe next year! Chelsea have won at both Nottingham Forest and Brighton this past week and they are currently 6th in the league. When it comes to Bournemouth, they lost 2-1 against Brentford last time out and they currently sit 11th in the table. In their previous 15 meetings, Chelsea have won 9 times whilst Bournemouth have won 4 times. For Chelsea, it would be a big slip-up if they lost this game! The Blues are ranked 6th in GPG (2.0) and they’re currently on a 4-game winning run! As for AFC Bournemouth, they would love to end their season on a high! The Cherries are ranked 12th in GPG (1.4) and they currently have the 9th-best away record in the league.

Brentford VS Newcastle

Brentford picked up a really good 2-1 win at Bournemouth last time out and they currently sit 16th in the table. Newcastle drew against Brighton (1-1) last weekend before they lost at Manchester United (3-2) midweek and they are currently 7th in the league. In their previous 8 meetings, Brentford have won once compared to 6 wins for Newcastle. For Brentford, a point here would get them to 40 for the Season! The Bees are ranked 11th in GPG (1.5) and they currently have the 5th-worst home record in the league. As for Newcastle United, they’ve got to get a result here. The Magpies are ranked 4th in GPG (2.2) and they currently have the 15th-best away record in the league.

Brighton VS Manchester United

Brighton drew 1-1 at Newcastle last weekend before they lost 2-1 to Chelsea midweek and they currently sit 10th in the table. When it comes to Manchester United, they lost 1-0 against Arsenal before they followed it up with a 3-2 win over Newcastle and they are currently 8th in the league. In their previous 16 meetings, Brighton have won 6 games whilst Man United have won 9. For Brighton and Hove Albion, they’ll want to end the season in the Top 10 again! The Seagulls are ranked 9th in GPG (1.5) and they also currently have the 9th-best home record in the league. As for Manchester United, they’ve got two chances to qualify for Europe now! United are also ranked 9th in GPG (1.5) and they currently have the 7th-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 1-2

 


Luton VS Fulham

Luton host Fulham knowing that the chances of them staying up are pretty much impossible! Luton lost 3-1 at West Ham last weekend and they are currently inside the Relegation Zone (in 18th). When it comes to Fulham, they got smashed 4-0 by Manchester City last time out and they currently sit 14th in the table. In their previous 5 meetings, Luton haven’t won once whilst Fulham have won 3 times. You actually have to go back to 1998 for the last time Luton beat Fulham (and they managed to do it twice)! For Luton Town, they have to just enjoy this game! The Hatters are ranked 15th in GPG (1.4) and they currently have the third-worst home record in the league. As for Fulham, they should really be winning this game. The Cottagers are ranked 14th in GPG (1.4) and they currently have the 5th-worst away record in the league.

My Prediction: 2-1

 


Burnley VS Nottingham Forest

Burnley lost 2-1 at Tottenham last weekend and they currently sit 19th in the table having already been relegated. As for Nottingham Forest, they lost 3-2 against Chelsea last time out and they are currently 17th in the league, needing just a point to confirm safety. In their previous 14 meetings, Burnley have won 7 times whilst Forest have won twice. For Burnley, they’ll want to end their season with at least something to smile about. The Clarets are ranked 18th in GPG (1.1) and they currently have the second-worst home record in the league. As for Nottingham Forest, they can realistically play this game without pressure on their shoulders. Forest are ranked 17th in GPG (1.3) and they currently have the third-worst away record in the league.

My Prediction: 2-1

 


Sheffield United VS Tottenham

Sheffield United lost 1-0 at Everton last weekend and they are currently bottom of the league. When it comes to Tottenham, they beat Burnley 2-1 followed by an “odd” 2-0 loss to Manchester City midweek and they currently sit 5th in the table. In their previous 8 meetings, Sheffield U have won twice whilst Spurs have won double that! For Sheffield United, they’ll want to at least end their season with something to smile about. The Blades are ranked 20th in GPG (0.9) and they’re currently on a 6-game losing run. As for Tottenham Hotspur, they should win this game comfortably! Spurs are ranked 7th in GPG (1.9) and they currently have the 6th-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 1-3

 


Crystal Palace VS Aston Villa

Crystal Palace picked up a really good 3-1 win at Wolves last weekend and they currently sit 12th in the table. When it comes to Aston Villa, they drew 3-3 with Liverpool last time out and they are currently 4th in the league. In their previous 15 meetings, Palace have won 6 games compared to Villa’s 7. For Crystal Palace, they don’t want the season to end! Palace are ranked 13th in GPG (1.4) and they’re currently on a 6-game unbeaten run (5W,1D). As for Aston Villa, what a terrific season they’ve had! Villa are ranked 5th in GPG (2.1), but they’re currently on a 5-game winless run in all competitions (2D,3L).
