2023/24 Premier League Preview: Gameweek 36

Luton VS Everton

The pressure is fully on Luton as they host Everton at Kenilworth Road. Luton lost 2-1 at Wolves time out and they currently find themselves inside the Relegation Zone (in 18th), just a point from Safety. When it comes to Everton, they picked up a good 1-0 win over Brentford last weekend and they currently sit 15th in the table. In their previous 2 meetings, Luton have won 2-1 both times! For Luton Town, they have to win this game. The Hatters are ranked 14th in GPG (1.4) and they currently have the third-worst home record in the league. As for Everton, they pressure is of them now (which is a credit to their strong end to the season). The Toffees are ranked 19th in GPG (1.1) and they’ve managed to pick up 12 points in their last 5 games (whilst also keeping 4 clean sheets).

My Prediction: 2-2

Arsenal VS Bournemouth

Arsenal’s next step on their Title Challenge sees them host Bournemouth on Saturday’s Lunchtime Kickoff. Arsenal picked up an important 3-2 win at Tottenham last weekend and they are currently top of the league. When it comes to Bournemouth, they thrashed Brighton 3-0 last time out and they currently sit 10th in the table. In their previous 14 meetings, Arsenal have won 11 games compared to just 1 win for Bournemouth (2-1 in 2018). For Arsenal, you’d expect them to win this game. The Gunners are ranked 1st in GPG (2.4) and they currently have the third-best home record in the league. As for AFC Bournemouth, they’ve got nothing to lose here! The Cherries are ranked 9th in GPG (1.5) and they currently have the 8th-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 3-1

Brentford VS Fulham

Brentford lost 1-0 at Everton last weekend and they currently sit 16th in the table. When it comes to Fulham, they drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace last time out and they are currently 13th in the league. In their previous 16 meetings, Brentford have won 9 times whilst Fulham have won 4 times. For Brentford, there isn’t really much for them to play for anymore. The Bees are ranked 9th in GPG (1.5), but they currently have the 5th-worst home record in the league. As for Fulham, they’ll want to win at least one more London Derby before the season ends. The Cottagers are ranked 13th in GPG (1.5) and they currently have the 4th-worst away record in the league.

My Prediction: 1-1

Burnley VS Newcastle

Burnley host Newcastle in a big game for both sides! Burnley picked up a good point at Manchester United last weekend, but they are still currently inside the Relegation Zone (in 19th), just 2 points off Safety. When it comes to Newcastle, they smashed Sheffield United 5-1 last time out and they are currently 7th in the league. In their previous 14 meetings, Burnley have only won twice whilst Newcastle have won 7 times. For Burnley, as difficult as it is, they have to get a result here. The Clarets are ranked 18th in GPG (1.1) and they currently have the second-worst home record in the league. As for Newcastle United, they should win this game. The Magpies are ranked 4th in GPG (2.2), but they currently have the 15th-best away record in the league.

Nottingham Forest go to newly-Relegated Sheffield United knowing they have to win. Sheffield United got smashed 5-1 at Newcastle last weekend and they are officially Relegated down in 20th. When it comes to Nottingham Forest, they lost 2-0 at home to Manchester City last time out and they are currently 17th in the league, just a point above the drop zone. In their previous 12 meetings, both sides have picked up 4 wins each. For Sheffield United, this game could actually have massive implications on who they play in the Championship next season. The Blades are ranked 20th in GPG (1.0) and they currently have the worst home record in the league. As for Nottingham Forest, they cannot afford to leave this game with anything other than maximum points! Forest are ranked 17th in GPG (1.2) and they currently have the third-worst away record in the league.

My Prediction: 1-2

Manchester City VS Wolves

Manchester City take on Wolves as the Champions look to continue their march to a 4th-straight Title. Manchester City beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 last weekend and they are currently second in the league, but with a game in hand. When it comes to Wolves, they beat Luton 2-1 last time out and they currently sit 11th in the table. In their previous 17 meetings, Man City have won 11 games compared to Wolves’ 3. For Manchester City, you’d expect them to win this game. City are ranked 2nd in GPG (2.4) and they’re currently on a 31-game unbeaten run in all competitions (25W,6D). As for Wolverhampton Wanderers, they aren’t playing for much now, but that doesn’t mean they won’t give this game a right old go! Wolves are ranked 14th in GPG (1.4) and they currently have the 10th-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 3-0

Brighton VS Aston Villa

Brighton got thrashed 3-0 by Bournemouth last time out and they currently sit 12th in the table. When it comes to Aston Villa, they drew 2-2 with Chelsea last weekend before they got stunned 4-2 by Olympiacos last night and they are currently 4th in the league. In their previous 12 meetings, Brighton have only won once whilst Villa have won 7 times. For Brighton and Hove Albion, they need to find a win from somewhere. The Seagulls are ranked 9th in GPG (1.5) and they’re currently on a 6-game winless run (2D,4L). As for Aston Villa, the pressure is very much on them right now! Villa are ranked 5th in GPG (2.1) and they currently have the 4th-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 1-3

Chelsea VS West Ham

Chelsea host West Ham in a game that could have massive European implications. Chelsea drew 2-2 at Aston Villa last weekend before they beat Tottenham 2-0 last night and they are currently 8th in the league. When it comes to West Ham, they picked up a point against Liverpool last time out and they currently sit 9th in the table. In their previous 26 meetings, Chelsea have won 13 times whilst West Ham have won 8. For Chelsea, another win here and Europe is very much on for them! The Blues are ranked 7th in GPG (1.9) and they also currently have the 7th-best home record in the league. As for West Ham United, they need to get a win here. The Hammers are ranked 8th in GPG (1.6) and they currently have the 7th-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 2-1

Liverpool VS Tottenham

Liverpool take on Tottenham in a massive Super Sunday clash. Liverpool dropped more points last time out in a 2-2 draw at West Ham and they are currently third in the league. When it comes to Tottenham, they’ve lost to both Arsenal and Chelsea this past week and they currently sit 5th in the table. In their previous 29 meetings, Liverpool have won 16 games compared to Spurs’ 6. For Liverpool, they have to win this game if they want any chance of winning the Prem this season. The Reds are ranked 3rd in GPG (2.2) and they currently have the best home record in the league. As for Tottenham Hotspur, it’s getting to be desperation time for them when it comes to qualifying for the Champions League. Spurs are ranked 6th in GPG (2.0) and they currently have the 5th-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 4-1

Crystal Palace VS Manchester United

Crystal Palace picked up a decent point at Fulham last weekend and they currently sit 14th in the table. When it comes to Manchester United, they could only draw 1-1 with Burnley last time out and they are currently 6th in the league. In their previous 24 meetings, Palace have won 5 games compared to 15 wins for Man United. For Crystal Palace, they’ll fancy themselves here. The Eagles are ranked 16th in GPG (1.3) and they’re currently on a 4-game unbeaten run (3W,1D). As for Manchester United, they cannot afford to not win this game.
