2023/24 Premier League Preview: Gameweek 12

Wolves VS Tottenham

Wolves controversially lost 2-1 at Sheffield United last weekend and they currently sit 14th in the table. Tottenham were thrashed 4-1 at home by Chelsea last time out and they are currently second in the league. In their previous 15 meetings, Wolves have won 4 times whilst Spurs have won 7 times. Each of the last five league meetings between these two sides has seen only one side score a goal. For Wolverhampton Wanderers, they are definitely capable of getting a result from this game. Wolves are ranked 11th in GPG (1.3) and they’re currently on a 9-game streak when it comes to failing to keep Clean Sheets. As for Tottenham Hotspur, they’ll be wanting to bounce back after a disastrous Monday Night. Spurs are ranked 6th in GPG (2.1) and they currently have the best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 0-1

Arsenal VS Burnley

Arsenal controversially lost 1-0 at Newcastle last weekend before they beat Sevilla 2-0 midweek and they are currently 4th in the league. Burnley lost again last week (2-0 at home to Crystal Palace) and they currently sit inside the Relegation Zone (in 19th place). In their previous 15 meetings, Arsenal have won 11 times whilst Burnley have only won once. That win for Burnley came back in December 2020 (thanks to an Aubameyang own goal). For Arsenal, they should win this game comfortably. The Gunners are ranked 6th in GPG (2.1) and they currently have the 5th-best home record in the league. As for Burnley, they’re going to need a miracle if they’re going to get anything from this game. The Clarets are ranked 20th in GPG (0.7) and they’re currently on a 5-game losing streak.

My Prediction: 4-0

Crystal Palace VS Everton

Crystal Palace won 2-0 at Burnley last weekend and they currently sit 11th in the table (I give up)! Everton drew 1-1 at home to Brighton last time out and they are currently 16th in the league. In their previous 21 meetings, Palace have won 4 times whilst Everton have won double that. For Crystal Palace, this is a good opportunity for them to get another win on the board. The Eagles are ranked 15th in GPG (0.9) and no team has kept more Clean Sheets than them in the league this season (5). As for Everton, they’ll be looking to keep their unbeaten run going. The Toffees are ranked 14th in GPG (1.0) and 9th in GCPG (1.4).

My Prediction: 1-1

Manchester United VS Luton

Manchester United welcome Luton to Old Trafford for what should be an interesting game. Manchester United picked up a 1-0 win at Fulham last weekend before they lost 4-3 in Copenhagen midweek and they currently find themselves in 8th place. Luton drew 1-1 at home to Liverpool last time out and they are currently 17th in the league. The most recent meeting between these two sides came back in the Carabao Cup in 2020 (United won 3-0). For Manchester United, they have to be winning this game. United are ranked 12th in GPG (1.1) and they currently have the 10th-best home record in the league. As for Luton Town, a result for them in this game isn’t out of the question. The Hatters are ranked 15th in GPG (0.9) and they currently have the third-worst away record in the league.

My Prediction: 3-1

Bournemouth VS Newcastle

Eddie Howe returns to the Vitality Stadium as Bournemouth host Newcastle Live on Saturday Night Football! Bournemouth were smashed 6-1 by Manchester City last time out and they currently find themselves inside the Relegation Zone (in 18th). Newcastle won 1-0 at home to Arsenal last Saturday before they lost 2-0 in Dortmund midweek. Newcastle are currently 6th in the league. In their previous 11 meetings, Bournemouth have won twice whilst Newcastle have won 5 times. For AFC Bournemouth, it would be good for them to head into the final International Break of the year with a positive result. The Cherries are ranked 17th in GPG (0.8) and they currently have the 5th-worst home record in the league. As for Newcastle United, they should be winning this game. The Magpies are ranked 2nd in GPG (2.5), but they only have the 15th-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 0-2

Aston Villa VS Fulham

Aston Villa suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss away to Nottingham Forest last weekend before they bounced back by beating AZ Alkmaar 2-1 in the Europa Conference League last night. Villa are currently 5th in the league. Fulham lost late at home to Manchester United last time out and they currently sit 15th in the table. In their previous 18 meetings, Villa have won 6 times whilst Fulham have won 8 games. For Aston Villa, they’ll be looking to get straight back to winning ways in the league. Villa are ranked 3rd in GPG (2.4) and they currently have the best home record in the league (5 wins from 5). As for Fulham, they’ll do well to get a result from this game. The Cottagers are ranked 17th in GPG (0.8) and they currently have the 14th-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 3-1

Brighton VS Sheffield United

Brighton drew 1-1 at Everton last weekend before they picked up a brilliant 2-0 win away to Ajax last night. Brighton currently sit 7th in the table. Sheffield United finally picked up a victory last weekend (at home to Wolves), but they are still currently bottom of the league. In their previous 4 meetings, Brighton haven’t won whilst Sheffield U have won twice. All four meetings have either ended in a 1-all draw or a 1-0 win to United. For Brighton and Hove Albion, they really need to win this game. The Seagulls are ranked 4th in GPG (2.2) and they’re currently on a 5-game winless run in the league (3D, 2L). As for Sheffield United, they’ll be looking to build off their victory last weekend. The Blades are ranked 17th in GPG (0.8) and they currently have the worst away record in the league (0 Points from 5 Games).

My Prediction: 3-0

Liverpool VS Brentford

Liverpool dropped points last weekend at Luton (in a 1-all draw) before they lost 3-2 in Toulouse last night and they are currently third in the league. Brentford won 3-2 at home to West Ham last time out and they currently sit 9th in the table. In their previous 4 meetings, Liverpool have won twice whilst Brentford have won once. For Liverpool, they’ll want to make sure that they end their difficult week with a good result. The Reds are ranked 4th in GPG (2.2) and they currently have the third-best home record in the league (5 Wins out of 5). As for Brentford, they’ll look to go into the International Break with a perfect 4 wins from 4. The Bees are ranked 8th in GPG (1.7) and they’re currently on a 3-game winning streak.

My Prediction: 3-2

West Ham VS Nottingham Forest

West Ham lost 3-2 at Brentford last weekend before they beat Olympiacos 1-0 in the Europa League last night and they are currently 12th in the table. Nottingham Forest picked up a great (2-0) win over Aston Villa last time out and they are currently 13th in the league. In their previous 6 meetings, West Ham have won 4 times whilst Forest have won twice. For West Ham United, they need to try and get a result from this game. The Hammers are ranked 9th in GPG (1.6) and they’re currently on a 3-game losing streak in the league. As for Nottingham Forest, they’ll be aiming to topple another Claret and Blue side. Forest are ranked 12th in GPG (1.1) and they currently have the 4th-worst away record in the league.

My Prediction: 2-2

Chelsea VS Manchester City

Chelsea welcome Manchester City to Stamford Bridge for a “big-time” Super Sunday clash. Chelsea thrashed London Rivals Tottenham 4-1 last Monday and they currently sit 10th in the table. Manchester City have beaten both Bournemouth (6-1) and Young Boys (3-0) in the past week and they are currently top of the league. In their previous 36 meetings, Chelsea have won 12 times whilst City have won 20 times. Man City have won every single meeting between the two sides since the 2021 Champions League Final (they also haven’t conceded in any of those 6 games). For Chelsea, this feels like a massive game for them. The Blues are ranked 10th in GPG (1.5) and they currently have the 13th-best home record in the league. As for Manchester City, they’ll want to make sure that they head into the International Break ahead of the rest of the field. City are ranked 1st in GPG (2.5) and they’re currently on a 5-game winning streak (with an aggregate score of 17-3).

My Prediction: 0-1
