2023/24 Premier League Preview: Gameweek 11

Fulham VS Manchester United

Fulham drew 1-1 at Brighton last weekend before they knocked Ipswich out of the Carabao Cup. Fulham are currently 14th in the table. Manchester United have lost 3-0 at home to both Manchester City and Newcastle in the past week and they currently find themselves in 8th place. In their previous 16 meetings, Fulham haven’t won once whilst Man United have won 13 times. Fulham’s last win over Man U came back in 2009 (they beat them twice that year). For Fulham, this is a big opportunity for them. The Cottagers are ranked 15th in GPG (0.9) and they haven’t kept a Clean Sheet in any of their last 6 matches. As for Manchester United, they have to win this game. United are ranked 12th in GPG (1.1) and they currently have the 13th-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 0-2

Brentford VS West Ham

Brentford host London Rivals West Ham in what should be a good game at the Gtech Community Stadium. Brentford picked up a good 2-0 win away to Chelsea last weekend and they currently sit 10th in the table. West Ham suffered a disappointing 1-0 at home to Everton in their last league game, but they bounced back in style with a 3-1 win over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup midweek. West Ham are currently 9th in the league. In their previous 5 meetings, Brentford have won 4 times whilst West Ham have only won once. Brentford have won all four meetings between the two sides in the Premier League (by an aggregate score of 8-1). For Brentford, this is a good chance for them to move further up the table. The Bees are ranked 8th in GPG (1.6) and they currently have the 10th-best home record in the league. As for West Ham United, they need to get back to winning ways in the Premier League. The Hammers are also ranked 8th in GPG (1.6) and they also happen to have the 8th-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 2-1

Burnley VS Crystal Palace

Burnley host Crystal Palace in an important game for both sides. Burnley suffered two disappointing defeats away to both Bournemouth (in the league) and Everton (in the Cup) this past week and they currently occupy a spot inside the Relegation Zone (19th). Crystal Palace suffered a 2-1 loss at home to Tottenham in last week’s Friday Night Football and they now sit 13th in the table. In their previous 20 meetings, Burnley have won 40% of the time whilst Palace have been victorious 35% of the time. For Burnley, they need to start winning Football matches. The Clarets are ranked 17th in GPG (0.8) and they currently have the worst home record in the league (0 points from 5 games). As for Crystal Palace, they should be winning this game. The Eagles are also ranked 17th in GPG (0.8), but they are ranked 8th in GCPG (1.3).

My Prediction: 0-1

Everton VS Brighton

Everton picked up two good wins over West Ham and Burnley this past week and they currently sit 15th in the table. Brighton could only draw 1-1 at home to Fulham last time out and they are currently 7th in the league. In their previous 12 meetings, Everton have won 6 times whilst Brighton have won 4 games. Interestingly, the away team has won each of these last 4 meetings (including 4-1 Brighton and 5-1 Everton last year). For Everton, this is a chance for them to cap off a really good 7 days. The Toffees are ranked 13th in GPG (1.0) and they currently have the 4th-worst home record in the league. As for Brighton and Hove Albion, they need to get back to winning ways. The Seagulls are ranked 3rd in GPG (2.3) and they’re currently on a 4-game winless run in the league.

My Prediction: 1-2

Manchester City VS Bournemouth

Manchester City comfortably won last weekend’s Manchester Derby and they currently find themselves third in the league. Bournemouth picked up their first league win of the season last weekend at home to Burnley before they lost 2-1 at home to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup. Bournemouth are currently just outside the Relegation Zone in 17th place. In their previous 13 meetings, Man City have won all of them by an aggregate score of 40-7. Amazingly, Bournemouth have never beaten City. For Manchester City, they should win this game easily. City are ranked 6th in GPG (2.2) and 1st in GCPG (0.7). As for AFC Bournemouth, they’re probably going to need a miracle to get a result from this game. The Cherries are ranked 17th in GPG (0.8) and they currently have the second-worst away record in the league.

My Prediction: 3-0

Sheffield United VS Wolves

Sheffield United were thrashed 5-0 by Arsenal last weekend and they are currently bottom of the Premier League, still without a win to their name. Wolves picked up a decent point at home to Newcastle last time out and they currently sit 12th in the table. In their previous 9 meetings, Sheffield U have won twice whilst Wolves have won 6 times. Interestingly, those 9 meetings have come across in three different leagues. For Sheffield United, it’s already starting to feel a bit desperate for them. The Blades are ranked 20th in GCPG (0.7) and they’re still waiting for their first win of the season. As for Wolverhampton Wanderers, a win here and they’re looking clear of the bottom 3. Wolves are ranked 10th in GPG (1.3) and they’re currently on a 4-game unbeaten run.

My Prediction: 1-2

Newcastle VS Arsenal

Live on Saturday Night Football, Newcastle host Arsenal in what should be a really exciting game. Newcastle drew 2-2 at Wolves last Saturday before they thrashed Manchester United in the Carabao Cup and they currently sit 6th in the table. Arsenal smashed Sheffield United 5-0 last weekend before they were disappointingly knocked out of the Carabao Cup by West Ham. Arsenal are currently second in the league. In their previous 26 meetings, Newcastle have only won 3 times whilst Arsenal have won a massive 20 times. For Newcastle United, they kind of need to be winning this game so they don’t get detached from the Title Contenders. The Magpies are ranked 1st in GPG (2.6) and they currently have the 4th-best home record in the league. As for Arsenal, this is a big game for them. The Gunners are ranked 3rd in GPG (2.3) and they currently have the third-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 2-1

Nottingham Forest VS Aston Villa

Nottingham Forest were comfortably beaten 3-0 at Liverpool last weekend and they currently sit 16th in the table. Aston Villa comfortably beat Luton 3-1 last time out and they are currently 5th in the league. In their previous 8 meetings, Forest have only won once whilst Villa have won 4 times. For Nottingham Forest, this is going to be a tough task for them to get anything from this game. Forest are ranked 13th in GPG (1.0) and they are currently on a 6-game winless run (4D,2L). As for Aston Villa, this is a good chance for them to keep up their impressive run of form. Villa are ranked 1st in GPG (2.6) and they’re currently on a 6-game winning streak in all competitions (5W,1D).

My Prediction: 0-2

Luton VS Liverpool

Luton welcome Liverpool to Kenilworth Road for Part 2 of this weekend’s Super Sunday. Luton lost 3-1 at Aston Villa last time out and they now find themselves back inside the Relegation Zone (in 18th). Liverpool have beaten Nottingham Forest 3-0 (in the league) and Bournemouth 2-1 (in the Cup) in the past week and they currently sit 4th in the table. The last meeting between these two sides came in the FA Cup back in 2008 (Liverpool won 5-0). For Luton Town, what an occasion this is for them. The Hatters are ranked 15th in GPG (0.9) and they currently have the third-worst home record in the league (1 point from 4 games). As for Liverpool, they need to make sure that they don’t slip up here. The Reds are ranked 3rd in GPG (2.3) and they currently have the 4th-best away record in the league.

My Prediction: 1-3

Tottenham VS Chelsea

The final game of the weekend sees London Rivals Tottenham and Chelsea collide Live on Monday Night Football. Tottenham picked up another victory last time out (this time against Crystal Palace) and they currently lead the way in the Premier League. Chelsea suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss at home to Brentford last weekend before they beat Blackburn 2-0 in the Cup. Chelsea currently sit 11th in the table. In their previous 34 meetings, Spurs have only won 6 times whilst Chelsea have won 18 times. For Tottenham Hotspur, they’ll be disappointed with anything other than 3 points from this fixture. Spurs are ranked 6th in GPG (2.2) and they also currently have the 6th-best home record in the league (4 wins from 4). As for Chelsea, this is a big test for them. The Blues are ranked 10th in GPG (1.3) and 5th in GCPG (1.1).

My Prediction: 2-0
